Need help with lipless baits (Red Eye Shad)
Your rods seem to have enough power to rip through the grass. My guess is you just got a dud. I've had to weed through some myself. Finding a good one though is worth it

Need help with lipless baits (Red Eye Shad)
What type of rod are you using (length and action) and also what kind of line?

Laser Lure
On their website they claim it lasts for 80 hours of fishing. They look like nice lures even without the laser flash.

powell max casting rods
I just got in my first one today. A 684CB. I'm very impressed with it so far. Very lightweight and feels balanced. I'll put it to the test this weekend.

Paint will NOT stay on Red Eye Shad...Very disappointed
I had a bunch of the gold/black red eyes given to me. Never really caught any on them. Had a guy wearing me out with a chrome trap one day and those were all I had. Scratched the gold and black off to reveal a chrome. All of mine are now a scratched combination of chrome and a bone colored. They SLAY

crankbait fishing
I've almost become a master at the bow and arrow technique haha. Another thing you can often do sometimes is as soon as you feel the bait hit the structure, point your rod out towards the snag. This will give the bait slack line and it will often float it's way out. More often then not, it's just the bill that gets hung, there are times though that the hooks dig in and when this happens reeling down to it will get it. I have also had no problem dunking my reels. Retriever poles and lure retrievers can eliminate the need for risking your reel or your tip guide.

KVD Signature Series Rods?
I bet this is his older series. Not the new red ones that he is speaking so highly of.

crankbait fishing
I agree. That is my primary method for cranking heavy cover. I primarily "crash" my baits through sparse cover and stump fields. I like to "finesse" my cranks through trees and laydowns though. Both methods are productive and all should learn them both.

College Fishing
I'm a member of the University of Tennessee at Martin team. Good to see you on here. There are several members here representing Auburn, Georgia Southern, Penn State, and others. Maybe they'll all show up here.

Jackall Flick Shake worm.
I wouldn't compare them to a senko style worm. They are a finesse worm. Thin and soft. Lots of movement in these worms. I tried them some at the end of this summer and early fall with a wacky jig head and I caught quite a few fish, nothing huge. I found it very effective around docks, edges of weeds, and isolated laydowns and bushes.

crankbait fishing
While you're right about wanting the crankbait to bang into the cover and deflect off it, I think that is still what he was doing. Often times I like to real my crank into the limb or stump or whatever and as soon as I feel it hit the cover I stop and let it "float" itself up off of the cover. This little pause often entices some pretty vicious strikes.

Jig Trailors
When I'm fishing footballs, the majority of the time I'm using a brush hog, baby brush hog, or sweet beaver type plastic for a trailer.

Crankbait for clear/stained water
I like colors with a white or pearl belly and and backs with colors like green, brown, blue, black, purple, etc. Shad imitators. I also like craw patterns in the spring. Especially brown back, chartreuse belly.

Crankbait for clear/stained water
Are you talking about an all around color that you can use in both conditions or are you talking about a color that works well in a lake with a little color to it like 2-3 ft of visibility?

carrot stick for cranks
If you spend a lot of time fishing crankbaits then sensitivity is important. However, with the super shallow cranks like you're fishing it is not really necessary. Burley answered your question, you want the parabolic.

Re: Penn State Needs Help
You gonna be fishing the Clarks Hill event? I think myself and another guy are gonna make the trip.

TackleTour.com what do you think? Do you agree with me?
Just because you don't like Kistler rods that automatically means that they are horrible and would have to have their owner pay some ONE person just to like one of their many rods in their lineup and talk about it?

The worst thing about TW
Got a shirt and sticker coming in the mail :-/ had to have something to look forward to this Valentine's weekend

Kentucky and Barkley
Depending, late March and April can be great fishing in those conditions. The fish will move up into the shallow bushes and other cover and spinnerbaits and jigs and some topwater will be key if that happens. It can be very very good and exciting fishing when those conditions arise.

I'm Done with MLB
It may happen in all sports but the rest of sports aren't letting the issue ruin themselves. It's very rare to see many baseball coverage without some kind of relation or mentioning of steroids. It's absolutely terrible. I doubt I'll even watch the coverage on Sports Center this season.
