  1. d**n! I just dropped a grand on a Lowrance LCX-28. I could have bought a SI unit. Oh well, maybe next year. I'm beginning to think that I need professional help. I'm turning into a fishing techno junkie. ;D
  2. All I'm sayin is that If you can't make it twitch on top, it ain't gonna twitch on the bottom.
  3. I'm glad I stayed out of this discussion. I was going to suggest that you tape your rod to your "rod," but then realized that you are probably not very good at drop-shotting.
  4. OK Burley, it's going to be you and me "mano a mano." I will give you the choice of weapons. Personally, I would suggest a 1/2 oz jig in blue/black flake. ;D
  5. I talked with Fishfordollars this evening. He is now a proud new grandfather. His daughter and new grandson are both doing well.
  6. flipin, McGee Creek is probably the biggest "sleeper" lake that we have in Oklahoma. It's so isolated that it gets very little pressure. I've heard lots of good things about "The Creek," but I've never fished it. One day soon I hope to.
  7. The unfortunate thing about opinions is that everyone has one. I have a 60 hp engine on my boat. I bought it used two years ago. The previous owner bought it new in 1990. He ran 87 octane in it along with any 2-stroke oil that was available. I still do the same thing, but I now add StarTron with every fill-up. My engine performance has increased dramatically since I started using the StarTron. Just another man's opinion.
  8. Yup. But what's wrong with the Ink Spots?
  9. My empty seat The empty seat on my boat is booked for Sunday and Monday. I will be playing selections of the following Greats: The Ink Spots The Platters Mel Torme' Bing Crosby ZZ Top Jimi Hendrix I will be more than happy to take Burley out for a day unless someone insists that I bring him back alive. ;D
  10. Very nice looking ride, but, like Big Tom, I'm not sure I could get into it without a shoehorn.
  11. I'm right in the middle of networking my lowrance units (522 and 28) so have srent an enormous amount of time researching this topic. Start here. http://www.lowrance.com/en/Products/Marine/LowranceNET-Marine-Networking-System/
  12. Maybe I'm a little slow, but when I post about fishing tackle (seldom) or lures (hardly ever) I post only about the products with which have had personal experience. Why on earth would anyone trash a product that they have never used? The big problem is that this site is so vast that everyone has an opinion. There is no way to separate the wheat from the chaff. I suppose (God forbid) that there could exist an almost infinite number of Polls (teenagers love polls) where everyone could vote on every conceivable product, but this site would be a pretty dismal place under those circumstances. There may come a time when Glenn sets up a group of folks who will do unbiased testing much as TackleTour does. In the meantime, I will log on to the TackleTour site on a frequent basis.
  13. Me? Ignorant? Absolutely! Thank you for the recognition! Coming from a gentleman of your vast experience, I consider it a compliment. :
  14. Ghoti, why does my Drivers' License have YOUR picture on it?
  15. I have two daughters, now both grown and married. A very wise lady once told me to "have all the babies you want, love them and cherish them, but if they are girls, when they turn thirteen, kill them." Believe me. I was tempted. I'm now very pleased that I didn't.
  16. What you fail to understand is that there hasn't been any good music that has been recorded since the Seventies.
  17. Now THAT was funny. Very far fetched, but funny nevertheless.
  18. Mottfia, Buck' Perry's books were written well before you were born, but the basics of structure fishing still apply to this day. Way back then, Buck didn't have the luxury of the electronics we have today, so he used his "spoons" to FEEL the structure. These days, some of his theories have been proven wrong, but that man knew how to use structure and cover to find fish.
  19. Burley, I do not have your registration form or any other information other than that you are registered. I am compiling the info independently from what Alpster is doing. Please PM me with the info requested. Thank you in advance.
  20. If you are planning on making the trip and staying at Kenlake Lodge, and you have not yet made your reservation, be advised that the lodge has lost power due to the recent ice storm. Because of this the lodge is unable to make, change or cancel reservations. The lodge advised me today that it will probably be two weeks before power is regained.
  21. I am requesting that all Road Trip attendees PM me with the following information. 1. Do you have a room, but need a roommate? 2. If you do not have room are you willing to split the cost with someone who does? 3. Will you be bringing your boat? If so, do you have any empty seats? 4. Are you looking for a seat on a boat 5. What is your real name and contact phone number? With the exception of real names and phone numbers, I will compile the information you send to me and will post an updated list regularly. The names and phone numbers will be sent via PMs to all of the attendees immediately prior to the trip. Please note: I will NOT honor any requests to be placed as far away from Burley's room as possible. ;D

  23. Let me get this straight. Did you move your girlfriend's mother out of your girlfriend's husband's house, or did you move your girlfriend's mother out of your girlfriend's mother's husband's house? Just curious. Either way, it could not have been a very good day. ;D
  24. I don't believe that California will ever join the European Union, but when the Big Quake finally hits, it will probably be a suburb of Tokyo. ;D
