OK, at the risk of hi-jacking the thread, it is an un-retouched photo of a jar of pickled eggs that I brewed up. By sheer coincidence, the spices in the jar settled out to form the sad face. The frown is cayenne pepper. The eyes are peppercorns. If you look closely, there is a nose made of lemon seed and a couple of tears coming from the eye on the left; also made of lemon seed.

I agree with Wayne P., but want to stress that you need to have an SD card with either the Navionics, Fishing Hot Spots or the free Lowrance Lakes downloads if you want to navigate on land or water. And yes, the H2O will give you speed. I used the H2O exclusively on my boat for over a year before purchasing a Lowrance 522. I still use it, but it's now on the bow instead of the console.

Fishfordollars, you are absolutely right. As I mentioned when we talked last night, I took the safe boaters course a couple of years ago and passed it with flying colors. However, when you mentioned the white buoy with the orange colors, I realized that I had forgotten some things. For those of you who have never bothered to take the course, many of these "things" change, depending upon which state you are boating in. For example, the red and green buoys could be reversed. Usually the phrase "Red Right on Return" applies when one is returning from the sea. However, in many large reservoirs , the same phrase may apply when returning to the dam, regardless of the direction of the dam. Or, it might be just the opposite. Confusing isn't it? I strongly suggest you take the course not only for the state you live in but also immediately prior to launching your boat in any state you plan to visit. The practice courses will cost you nothing, and may save your life.

It's truly amazing what you can learn simply by using satellite imagery. I use both Google Earth and Microsoft's Virtual Earth. Between the two of them, I have learned an amazing amount about my favorite lake. The Virtual Earth images were taken when the lake was at one of its lowest points in history. I could not believe the structure it revealed! Regardless of my great good fortune on this particular lake, either program has to capacity to indicate submerged structure on many many lakes.

I couldn't believe it, but today I received a package from Burley. The only contact I have ever had with him is on this site. I know that he did not draw my name in the Christmas exchange, so naturally I was a bit cautious about opening it. I listened closely for the sound of ticking, but heard nothing. I placed the package at the feet of my dogs, but they weren't interested in the slightest. Finally, I soaked the package in a bucket of water for six hours. Only then did I open it. LISTEN UP! I spoke with Kenlake Lodge this afternoon. There are no cabins available that will accommodate four people. Those that are available cost $90+ a night. The rooms in the lodge are our best bet, although they will accommodate only two people. The daily rate is $62.96 plus tax, so figure about $73 a room. Divide that cost by two guys and the rate would be around $183 per person for the week. Also, the majority of the Lodge rooms that are still available are Smoking rooms, so if you are a non-smoker you need to make your reservations as soon as possible. BTW, do not use the reservation board on the Kenlake website. It will indicate that no rooms are available. Make your reservation by phone and BE SURE say that you are with the BassResource group. They are offering a discounted group rate to us. Update: 7:25 PM CST. I just received a confirmation of my reservation at Kenlake. The room tax was lower than I thought, so it will cost only $157.40 per person for the week.

McAfee Antivirus. Hands down better than Norton, but it will cost you about the same $ per year. I've never tried it, but I have heard there are free, or almost free antivirus programs available off the web, but I'm not about to go there.

It is $40. Well worth every penny.

Cart7t, unless you have firsthand experience with silicon damaging the Gelcoat on a Nitro, I would have to say that that statement was uncalled for.

My goals are lofty: Fish with Catt at least twice. Fish with Fishfordollars at least three times. Fish again with Muddy, Ghotti, Riskkid and Roadwarrior. Catch a few nice bass in the process.
