    LMAO!
  2. hjerk, In my opinion, Tebow's eye stickers were inappropriate and should not have been allowed. There are millions of people who watched the game (or will watch it on reruns) who do not share his beliefs, or yours.
  3. Poll: What are the BEST rods and BEST reels and the BEST lures to use on your choice of the BEST bass boat and the BEST motor when fishing in the Northern or Central part of the States in each of the four seasons? Please select from one or more of the following four thousand options.
  4. Oklahoma LMB - 1999 - 14 lbs, 11.5 oz. SMB - 2006 - 8 lbs, 3 oz. Our records aren't as old as most
  5. Frogtog, as posted earlier, just Google the word wanker. ;D
  6. Thanks for the response bass or bass. Due to the lack of any other response, I would say that you are in the minority. I note that you live in Arizona. Who monitors Channel 16 in your area? I will check with my local sheriff's office to find out if they monitor this channel. I was hoping that many fresh water boats carried the VHF radios, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
  7. There is no cure for STUPID!
  8. The symphony of nature is the only music I want to hear when I'm on the water.
  9. Do any of you fresh water fishermen have a VHF or even a CB radio installed in your boat? If so, do you find it useful?
  10. Commercials are the reason that all of the letters have been eroded off my Mute button. At the Zero volume level, even the screaming Billy Mayes becomes just another babbling used car salesman - unheard.
  11. Kent, I disagree. Let's say that our infallible government places a floor price on shale oil of x$. If the price of imported or even domestic oil is less than x$, why would a refiner purchase shale oil, unless of course it was mandated by our infallible government? Then, throw in atomic, wind, geothermal, natural gas, biofuels, etc. In order to enact a comprehensive energy policy, our infallible government must also mandate a "price per barrel" equivalent for all of the alternatives, so as to enable them to be economically viable. You and I know that ain't gonna happen. If we ignore the alternative energy sources and concentrate only on maximizing domestic production of oil, the same situation applies. Domestic production will not increase unless the producers can make a profit. In the short term, our infallible government will have to dictate the domestic price of oil and it will have to be the same, regardless of source.
  12. I think this thread should be closed. The non smokers are snobs and the smokers are defensive. It's a lose/lose situation.
  13. Muddy, if you could bring yourself to stop throwing Pink Floyd CDs your condition would improve dramatically. It's the side-arm motion that's aggravating your shoulder. ;D
  14. Toolpush, I grew up in the "Patch." My dad was a tool pusher. Thanks to him, I worked my way through college by rough-necking during the summers. When I graduated, I went to work in the Patch, and despite having been out of it for over twenty years, the Patch is where my heart is. We both know that with the price of oil dropping as low as it has been lately, we can both foresee the same carnage as occurred back in the eighties. The oil companies cannot make a profit unless the price of domestic oil is above $50/bbl. They will stop exploration and much production drilling and the layoffs will start to snowball. Do you remember the old bumper sticker that read "Will the last person out of Houston please turn off the lights?" I could go into my usual tirade about how the very low oil prices will adversely affect the introduction of alternative energy, but I've voiced my opinion several times on threads of this nature
  15. Hookem, I've been a Pink Floyd fan longer than you have been alive. ;D
  16. Despite the fact that I am officially an Old Fart, I took up bass fishing only a few years ago. Recognizing my ignorance of the sport, I started an internet search and, to my great fortune, stumbled upon BR. I spent months reading and re-reading all of the newbie articles. I still go back from time to time and re-read some of them. Also, to my great fortune, I have had the opportunity of attending the last two BR road trips, where I have met all of the Mods (and Ghotti, who is not a Mod, but is a member of the BR staff), Glenn and his lovely wife Kerri, and many of the regulars on this board. The great thing is, if you hang around this site long enough and are able to participate in any of the road trips, you will make life long friends. How many websites can boast of this?
  17. If you have an opportunity to fish Lake Fork, DO NOT pass it up. Depending upon the weather that time of year, you may catch nothing, or you may catch the bass of a lifetime.
  18. I prefer John Wayne movies, They had a lot of the same qualities, with the exception of the boobs.
  19. and that's how everyone should feel about their home town 8-) Not necessarily. I don't really have a home town. I grew up in a small town in South Louisiana, but I have no desire to return there. On the other hand, I often travel back to my wife's home town, which is about twenty miles away from mine. I suppose one could say that I have a home culture rather than a home town. So, to stay on thread, Cajun Country is the center of the Universe.
  20. With the exception of Hookemdown, who is wise beyond his years, I'm going to try to do the same - unless some kid tries his text messaging technique when posting on this board. When this occurs, I feel that it is incumbent on all members to set the kid straight.
  21. What? I lost? Roadwarrior, I want my money back! >
  22. I got hooked on Pfluegers when I first bought their Trion and President spinning reels. Excellent reels for the price. When I graduated to baitcasters, I started with President and loved it. I then bought a couple of the BPS Extremes. Again, very good quality for the price, but I preferred the President for reasons that I can't quite define. It just "felt" better. Recently, I bit the bullet and bought my first Patriarch. I cannot begin to describe what a wonderful piece of work that reel is!
  23. Based upon the reviews I have read on the BPS website, the XPS units work great for one year. Then, just after the warranty expires, they turn to crap. Next time, buy a DualPro. They'll last ten years or so.
  24. To tell you guys the truth, I don't know why my braid failed. All I know is that my 50# braid failed just above my 20# fluro leader. Dry rot is as good an excuse as any, but it really boils down to my laziness. I had not re-tied that line in months and it cost me a very large bass. :-[
