What does this picture tell you?
Am I missing something? That photo told me to find a topo map that showed the contours of those two bays, particularly those underwater points shown as shadows. Why is it that most everyone replies that the photo tells them nothing? It screams "Look for bass here!"

What does this picture tell you?
Exactly. Barnett Bay to the south and Vickers Bay on the north. Vickers has an old road bed that runs east/west on the north side. I plan on fishing both these areas during the BR road trip.

Got My ASSOCIATES DEGREE TODAY>>DIPLOMA IN HAND
Dom, I have no need to post on this thread. You already know how I proud I am of your accomplishments. Getting a degree is just icing on the cake considering where you have been and where you have come. I am honored to be able to call you my friend.

Spring Has Sprung!
RW I live at about the same latitude as you. The trees are trying to bud, but we will have a cold snap this weekend that is guaranteed to make those little buds suck way back into their "scrotum."

Navionics Hot Map Errors? **UPDATE**
Don't be too disappointed. Navionics likes to advertise their high res maps, but they never tell you whether or not the information is accurate. Personally, I've been somewhat disappointed with the information provided. On the other hand, I've also been disappointed with the info provided on the Fishing Hot Spots chips and with the free maps provided by Lowrance. All in all, my vote goes to the FHS maps.

In Your Opinion
I usually go to the big stores to try to pick up women. I'm beginning to think that single's bars would be more productive.

Got a new pond.
Gary, I would suggest you use light tackle when fishing for those "Baby Ruths" in your basement.

WOMEN !!!!
Gawd, I am lucky man. My bride for the last thirty-eight years has always been my best friend. I understand her nuances (which took me about twenty years to learn) and she understands mine (took her about fifteen minutes.)

The Price Of Oil vs. Gasoline
If you think that the U.S. is becoming completely dependent on foreign oil, you need to do a little research on what assets that we have available, but are off limits because of the alarmists. Has anyone heard of the Bakken formation? Most geologists are saying that it has more potential than the North Slope. Oil is our only short term alternative. Drill we must.

FYI for BR.com KY boaters
Does Kenlake Lodge have its power back yet? According to the lady working at the lodge, they weren't expecting power restoration for at least two weeks. That was a week ago. The Marina may be having the same problems, including a phone outage. I'd like to rent a slip also.

A lesson for Team Pampers
At the ripe old age of 62, I have been remarkably lucky. I have a gimp knee (old skiing injury) that does not want me to climb stairs, so I do it carefully. However, once I get to the top, I can literally run back down them. I also have a condition known as Essential Tremors. Everyone has them but mine are much more severe. Sometimes the simple act of tying on a hook can be a ten minute ordeal. That's it. No other major problems. Of course I wake up every morning and hobble around as if someone kicked the crap out of me the night before, but after about thirty minutes I'm good to go.

My Boat
Very nice looking fixer-upper. You should have a lot of fun both fishing it and fixing it. That steering wheel looks like a satellite dish. ;D I'm looking forward to seeing what you've done with the boat when we get to KY Lake.

Viewing line icons instead of fish icons on graph hard?
By all means, turn off the fish icons. They will lie to you every time. Learn how to read and interpret the arches and any adjacent structure/cover.

Fishing Magazines?
I think Bassin is the best, but you never know when you will receive an issue. In my opinion the magazine has great content, but it is very poorly managed. They are very good at sending you bill after bill, but very poor on sending you the magazine.

What's the magic number?
On Dec 26, I went fishing on a small lake (110 acres) with a friend. The average depth of the lake is about twenty feet, but there is a deep channel running through it that goes as deep as sixty feet. The surface water temp was about thirty-eight degrees so I figured the bass would be holding fairly deep. I found a nice break line at about thirty-eight feet that, according to my sonar, was holding fish. I started out using a jig, drawing it up the channel ridge. On the other hand, if you can believe this, my partner was drop-shotting a white/chartreuse spinner bait. He caught a six pounder and a three pounder. Me? Skunked!

New Lowrance Graph
For info about your transducers go to www.lei-extras.com/store/default.asp. As for a new unit I would recommend the LMS-520 (external GPS antenna) or the LMS-522 (internal). They are both 5" color units that accept SD cards. Both can be purchased for very reasonable prices these days.
