  1. About a hundred years ago when I was in college, I fell asleep and slept through my Final Exam in Geography. To my great good fortune, the professor allowed me to make up the test. I made an A.
  2. Muddy, we promised each other that we would never discuss that horrible encounter publicly. I will never forget the looks of that horrible beast. It made my blood run cold. The 'gator was almost as ugly.
  3. I can tell that you've never fished with RW.
  4. For what it's worth, I've had my reconditioned unit for almost three years and have had zero problems with it.
  5. Jesse893, thank you. It has seemed lately that I'm the only guy on the forum who takes issue with poor grammar and spelling. It's gratifying to know that I am not the only voice howling in the wilderness.
  6. Mr. Porter, Buck Perry would have been proud of you.
  7. Wow! What a great year I had! I had the great opportunity of meeting the BR guys at Guntersville and fishing with several of them. If it hadn't have been for Roadwarrior, I could not have made the trip. he gave up his own bed to accommodate me when I was left high and dry by my the guy who pledged to share my room rental. I caught my PB on Caney Reservoir in Louisiana while fishing in a snowstorm with my Cajun cronies. I had the opportunity of rooming and fishing with Ghoti at a neat little private fishing spot in Missouri. I had the opportunity of meeting Catt, who clued me in on a neat fishing spot on Toledo Bend. I had the opportunity of meeting, rooming and fishing with Fishfordollars. What a great teacher he is! All in all, I didn't catch a lot of fish, but I have learned more than I could have ever hoped for. One great year!
  8. Just in case anyone is interested, DualPro is having a sale on their reconditioned units. You can save over $100 on a reconditioned unit, and it still has a one year warranty. http://www.dualpro.com/store/items/9/
  9. Kent I agree completely with your assessment, with one exception. I do not believe that the public has been manipulated. It's the market that has been manipulated by the futures traders. The public was simply caught in the middle of all the greed. I sincerely hope that those traders are taking a financial bath right now, but I doubt it.
  10. Kudos to your wife Kent. She must be Saint to have put up with the likes of you all these years. ;D BTW, my bride and I will be celebrating our 39th next month ... and yes, my wife is a Saint.
  11. Kent, I'm beginning to think that you are prescient. You foresaw this trend months ago, when the rest of us were whinging our hands at the price of gasoline. Well done!
  12. Back off on the green in the second picture and I think you will have it.
  13. I have two Extremes and one Pflueger President. I like all three reels, but the one I pick up the most is the President. That reel seems to like me better than the others. Don't ask me why.
  14. With few exceptions, I do not fish tournaments. I compete only with myself. I have not, and will not, spend that kind of money for a simple weight. A one ounce weight is a one ounce weight. The tungsten weight may be smaller, but I don't care. Call me ignorant if you wish, but you will not convince me to change.
  15. Well, I'm back, and well rested, from the Lake Fork outing. I had the great opportunity of fishing with Jack (Fishfordollars) through the tournament weekend. WOW! What a fisherman that man is! He brought in BIG keepers when almost everyone else in his club was getting skunked. Not surprisingly, he won the tournament and continues as the 2008 club leader. To his great credit, Jack was very patient with a relative newbie like me and he taught me more than he will ever know. I would be very pleased to fish and/or room with him anytime. Jack many thanks for your teaching, your patience and your hospitality. I will not forget. On a side note, the second place finisher in the tournament was a young fishing phenom by the name of Caleb Ramsey - age 13. Folks, this kid is GOOD. He just picked up sponsorship from Lake Fork Tackle. I may have met the next KVD.
  16. While Muddy is correct, his knowledge is somewhat dated. While Flanistan failure was fairly common in the pre-1970 models, this was largely corrected by the industry in general. On newer models, the most common failure occurs in the upper Glanknurter. I think Geico sells Glanknurter insurance.
  17. I have a 522 on my Tracker and absolutely love it. When I win the lottery I'm going to install another one on the bow.
  18. I wish it was mine. Fishfordollars caught it. I just netted it. Unfortunately, I had to net another over 8 for him a couple of hours earlierier. He also had a 5.85 on Friday. He has a choke hold on the field right now. Well see if he can hold on to it tommorrow. Second place is over 10 lbs. back. He has a midday black buzzbait bite going on and the fish are keyed in on it.
  19. Day one on Fork. It was super tough. One 5 bass limit weighed in. I got very lucky and am in the lead. At ten minutes till 2:00 I had one fish that weighed 1.39 lbs. I picked up a black bussbait and quickly caught an 8+ and an hour later long Mike netted a 10.51 for me. I only weighed in three fish but they totaled 21.09 lbs. second at this time is 10.01 lbs. Tommorrow is another day though. Will let everyone know the outcome Monday. Thanks Long Mike for the great net work Jack, AKA: fish for dollars
  20. The only two things that can be said about Lake Fork in March is that the spawn should be in full swing and that the weather is completely unpredictable. Be prepared for all of the following: warm spring days, sudden severe thunderstorms, 50mph winds, freezing rain, sleet or snow, and near freezing temperatures.
  21. AH SHUCKS! Burley gave me the answer and now I can't play!
  22. I am very pleased to report that, despite my advanced years, I do not (yet) require any of those products. Therefore, any input from me would be just a wild guess.
  23. Pencil Pusher, thanks for straightening me out. My wife is a CPA who was watching TV when I asked her the question. It's obvious that I received only a half-hearted response.
  24. Ghoti, I didn't say that I didn't have a rip-roaring good time. Also, the food was great! Those Cajuns can cook! And yes, the wine did flow. Burley, I drove my truck out of Oklahoma backwards. Everyone thought I was on my way in. ;D Well, Folks I'm headed down to Lake Fork this week-end to fish a tournament with Fishfordollars. It will be my first face-to-face meeting with him also. Another trip I'm very much looking forward to.
