Oil Prices Plunge!
FrogTog, you forget we have a new President. Obama is such a smooth talker that he will have the OPEC countries begging to GIVE us their oil within six months. The price of gasoline will fall back to a reasonable 28 to 30 cents a gallon. I'm absolutely sure of my prediction ... Er, the Matron just reminded me that I forgot to take my medication. I'll get back to you.

Have Yall Ever
J Franco. It works occasionally, but normally points you to a business or a near-by town with the same name, not the lake itself. On the flip side of the coin, if you find a likely fishing spot with GE imagery, and do not know the name of the body of water, then you are pretty much SOL.

expired licenses...
Well, if it's expired, it has no value other than nostalgia. If it's you first license then by all means keep it. As for the rest? Nothing but trash.

this may be the dumbest question ever asked on this board but
Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer. If you are using a baitcaster the eyes should face up. If you are using a spinning rig the eyes should face down. BS aside, the load on the eyes is transferred to the rod in either case.

89MJ, I'm in the same predicament. GE doesn't put names on the lakes. The best I have been able to do is to zoom in at the dam and hope a road is named for the dam it traverses, e.g. Hoover Dam road.

Does tournament angling make you a better angler?
Those of you who know me know that I am a relative newbie to the sport. I have fished only two tournaments. Ironically, they were both held at Lake Fork. As a newbie I take advantage of every opportunity I can to learn from others. During the first tournament I learned nothing. My host seemed to know no more that I did. In the second tournament I fished with Fishfordollars, and I learned a ton. Truth be told, whether or not I was fishing a tournament is immaterial. It's WHO I was fishing with that made me a better angler. Jack (Fishfordollars) taught me more than he will ever know. One of the more significant lessons I learned is that, thanks to my incessant reading, I know more than I think I did. I just couldn't put the pieces together on the water. Jack very patiently taught me how to start solving the puzzle. Many thanks Jack.

Oil Prices Plunge!
$1.899 here in Tulsa this morning. I tanked up my Suburban for only $54.00. That's MUCH better than $100+ that I was paying a few weeks ago

Handheld GPS
I have the H2O. It is a great little unit. When driving in unfamiliar areas I use it for navigation and have a dash mount for it. When I'm on the water I mount it on the bow. It has a Fishing Hot Spots SD chip in it, so I can easily navigate around, or to, shallow areas. All in all, it's a great investment for the money.

Why I will shop at Sears/Kmart this season
1. I've re-read the Sears response several times and could find no grammatical or spelling errors - but then, I've had a few glasses of wine. 2. Did anyone watch 60 Minutes this evening? Ironically, they filmed a segment about what is being done to protect the jobs of those who are in the reserves/guard who are required by the military to spend time as an active soldier. By law, when the soldier returns form active duty, that soldier is to be returned to the same duties, and at the same pay, as when he/she departed. In reality, according to 60 Minutes, that seldom happens. And here's the kicker. The employer that abuses this law the most is the Federal Government. To the nation's great good fortune, there are companies out there who bend over backwards to protect the families and jobs of their employees who are called to duty. 60 Minutes focused on a truck line by the name of Con-Way Freight. Con-Way spends over a half million a year to ensure the well being and job security of its "conscripted" employees.

Have Yall Ever
I'm willing to bet that I am the Googlingest, Virtual Earthingest, Map Creatingest, and Navionics HotMapingest old fart on this site. I spend endless hours comparing satellite imagery with topo maps. The Navionics HotMaps Package allow the user to do side-by-side comparisons with Google Earth imagery. On the other hand, Virtual Earth offers high res (aircraft, not satellite) photos of certain lakes and their shore lines. Because the BR group will be fishing Kentucky Lake in the Spring, I have been spending a lot of my time there. I've located a number of spots that I will be proposing to the likes of RW, CJ and Riskkid for their opinions. BTW Catt, remember that hump you told me about on Toledo Bend near where we were staying? I didn't have the HotMaps high res topo maps at the time, but now, with this software, that spot sticks out like a sore thumb. Having said all of the above, I've found that one can be guilty of over-analysis. Fishfordollars taught me that a couple of weeks ago.

boat help
Replace the entire assembly with the exception of the hose. Clean all mating surfaces. Use a silicon sealant on all hull-mating surfaces. DO NOT over tighten. Tighten by hand and then make a half-turn with a pair of pliers. If it worked for my new toilet, it will certainly work for your bilge. ;D
