NW sports may be bad, but....
Glenn, for what it's worth, the fans in Oklahoma appear to care about their teams more than the folks in the NE. The Thunder's head coach has already been fired.

E-bay a sellers market
Tis the winter season. If I were going to try to sell fishing gear on e-bay, I would wait until spring. The demand would be much higher.

Football!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tend to agree with Hookem. For the most part it's a coin toss on who will win. But ... OU is (not sure of the exact number) like 28-0 when playing at home.

Lowrance 520c or 522c
Ldavis you are correct. The only difference between the 520 and the 522 is the internal GPS antenna. I have a 522 mounted to the right of my console and have never had a problem with loss of signal. When funds allow, I'm going to mount another 522 on the bow.

TEAM DEPENDS LOOSES A GIANT THIS WEEK
Muddy, you forgot to mention that Doughboy is also survived by the Michelin Man. The resemblance is remarkable, but Michelin Man has always been able to withstand a poke in the navel.

Writing a novel with a bass fisherman character, need help with plot and character realism
Buckshot, you came to the wrong site. We are bass fishermen. We may lie occasionally, but we NEVER cheat. You are writing a novel. By definition, it is fiction. You will have to make the lies up all by yourself.

Update 8/14/09 - good ole project... (pic heavy)
Well, the motor alone should be worth what you paid. From the photos I can't tell if the boat is aluminum or glass. If the boat is glass I would suggest that you take a VERY hard look at the transom and look for rotted wood. Come to think of it, look for rotted wood in the stringers also.

Scholarships
Hookem, there are TONS of stuff available. Does your school have a Career Guidance Counselor? If so, he/she should be able to provide you with a list of grants that are available to kids of your caliber. Many grants are provided by Alums and are seldom publicized. So, contact the colleges you are interested in attending and have them send you a list. Also contact both Federal and State agencies. Research, Research, Research!

Getting shocked
Without getting too technical, electricity that runs through wires doesn't all stay within the wire. The best way I can explain it is that it sort of acts like a magnet. Remember in elementary school when the teacher used a magnet and iron filings to demonstrate the magnet's force field? The further from the magnet, the weaker the field was. Well, electricity acts very much the same way. The higher the voltage on the line, the stronger the field is. That's why very high voltage lines are suspended much higher off the ground than the power lines in your neighborhood. In very humid conditions the field comes much closer to the ground because, as we all know, water conducts electricity. It's never lethal, but it can be VERY disconcerting if you are unfamiliar with what is going on.
