  1. What makes you think Rhino is a friend? We younger folks from the south don't like hanging around with old people from the north. They talk funny and they fart too much. I may have poor judgment, but I'm not THAT stupid. Just kidding, Tom.
  2. Move the bow battery to the stern and install the 70#. You won't regret it.
  3. Most of the back-lights on Lowrance products are adjustable by briefly hitting the power button several times. You might try that.

Back in the early Seventies I had the "opportunity" of living in Dubai (that's in the Middle East, for those of you who are geographically challenged.) Back then, the price of gold was set by what I believe was then called the U.S. Gold Standard, which was about $32 an ounce. Just about the time I arrived in Dubai, the U.S. abandoned the Standard and the price of gold went from $32 to $35 an ounce almost overnight. Primarily because I like shinny, glittery stuff I bought twenty 10-tola gold bars which weigh 3.75 ounces each. It cost me about $2,600. Today those gold bars, which reside in my safe deposit box, are worth about $133,000. My best investment, by far. My worst investment was in my first wife. When we divorced she was the secretary for the local small town District Attorney. We split everything right down the middle. She got everything, including the kids, and I got the payments. Luckily I was married to my second wife (of forty-two years) when I bought the gold.
  5. I had forgotten the mechanics name, but coincidentally today I received a PM from another member who reminded me that the guy's name is Alton Carlton. He apparently owns the Dealership. If he can't help you, I guarantee you that he will know someone who can - and who will also be a stand-up guy.
  6. We are students at Burlington High school in Iowa, and we are doing a survey for our engineering class. 1. What do you usually take when you go fishing? My medication. 2. How far do you have to walk to get to your fishing spot? It's about twenty feet to the truck my boat is hooked up to. 3. What kind of vehicle do you take when you go fishing? 1928 Rolls Royce pick-up. 4. How many trips does it usually take to get to your fishing spot? Eight to ten. I get lost a lot. 5. How long is your typical fishing outing? Usually three to four days. I have trouble finding my way home. 6. How many beverages do you typically drink during the outing? Just one keg of beer. 7. How many fishing poles do you take for an outing? None. I use a coffee can wound with fishing line. Thanks for taking the time to do this survey. It is greatly appreciated. You're welcome.
  7. Robert knows I was having some fun at his expense. Others apparently didn't get my attempt at wit.
  8. Does the Lin 10 catch more fish than, say a $100 reel?
  9. I'VE NEVER SEEN a more handsome man IN MY LIFE UNTIL I WENT TO the mirror.
  10. Done, but your survey stops far too short to give meaningful results to the average angler, other than the manufacturer, the cost of the reel, and the experience of the user, The type of line being used, and the weather conditions also play a significant role when it comes to birds-nests. That said, I think it is a pretty good high-school project. Good Luck!

  12. Jeez, and I thought I had long legs!
  13. You're kidding, aren't you?
  14. The link to the Registration Form is now in Glenn's first post on page 1 of this thread.
  15. These work very well and are very inexpensive. http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202528108/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=zip+ties&storeId=10051#.UHd6j66wVxA
  16. A hearty welcome from a fellow Okie!
  17. What was said above. I've had both. If you are often fishing in salad, go with the MK, but you will still have to pull the TM out of the water from time to time to free it of the really heavy stuff. Plus, I like MK's lifetime warranty on the shaft. Also, go with the largest amount of thrust that you can afford.
  18. I stay brand loyal because I know that Quicksilver is available everywhere, so I don't have to look around for the "Marine Rated" oil. Just laziness on my part. And Startron goes into every tank of gas.
  19. The Saints have a win, despite not having a head coach. I think that's terrific! As for Brees, he will be in the NFL Hall of Fame. The following was copied from the Saints website. * Sunday’s victory was the 300th regular-season win in Saints’ franchise history. New Orleans is now 300-390-5 in its 46th season in the NFL. * QB Drew Brees completed 29 of 45 passes for 370 yards, four touchdowns, one interception and a passer rating of 110.4. * Brees’ 40-yard touchdown pass to WR Devery Henderson with 2:58 remaining in the first quarter extended his streak of consecutive games with a touchdown pass to 48, breaking a tie with Johnny Unitas for the longest streak in NFL history. Unitas’ record lasted 52 seasons. * The record-setting touchdown pass was the 292nd of Brees’ career, moving him into sole possession of seventh place on the NFL’s career list for touchdown passes and breaking a tie with Warren Moon. * In his 100th game as a Saint, Brees surpassed 30,000 yards passing in his Saints career on his third-quarter touchdown pass to WR Marques Colston. Brees now has 30,114 yards passing in a Saints uniform. * Brees has 54 games of 300 yards or more in seven seasons as a Saint, including four this season. * Brees has thrown at least one touchdown pass in 90 of his 100 starts. * Brees extended his NFL-record streak of games with 20 or more completions to 41.
  20. A hearty welcome from Tulsa. You are correct. The last two summers have been brutal. I'm no longer a young man, so I hunkered down for the summer; with the exception of a couple of trout fishing trips on the White River below Bull Shoals. As you well know, fall came in with a bang last week. One day we had a high of 90 and two days later we had a high of 50, which set a record as the lowest high temperature on record for this date. Time to go fishing!
  21. My nearest lakes are about 45 minutes away. My problem is that I don't have a local fishing buddy, so I travel a lot. Twice a year to Trophy Country - a six hour drive. Twice a year to Toledo Bend - eight hours. Once a year to whereever the Road Trip is headed - eight to twelve hours. Twice a year to the White River below Bull Shoals for Trout fishing.- four hours. I figure I spend at least $1000 a year in gasoline alone; but it's worth it, because I get to fish with my buddies and make new friends along the way.
  22. Welcome Deb! Lot's of nice folks around here.
  23. Raider is back. Be still my heart!
  24. I agree with Rooster. The choice is now 50/50.
