  1. In stained water ill add a non-action trailer and in muddy water ill add a double tail grub. Always a trailer hook.
  2. Thats awesome, funny thing is i live about 30 minutes from Greensboro.
  3. Anyone out there use Osprey swimbaits? My dad gave me a swimbait that he bought out at Lake Mead and never used it. It looks like the Osprey swimbaits on ***, but im not sure if it is. The one I have has three letters on the back of the tail, I cant remember the 3 letters right off hand (left it at home and im at school), but do yalls Osprey have this?
  4. Put it with the BPS Extreme rod, I hear good things about that rod and they are very reasonably priced, within your 100 dollar limit. You can buy the Stradic/Extreme as a combo so it must be a good match. A 6'6" M or MH would do the trick.
  5. I have seen them in stores but have not had any experience with them.
  6. You couldn't have said it better. My stepdad's (really like a father to me) brother just passed away. His wife went to church and he stayed home because he wasn't feeling well and when she returned he didnt have a pulse. It was a huge suprise to everyone and really opened my eyes. It really tore up my stepdad, as this was his second brother that has passed and both of them for unknown reasons. Really makes you appreciate things when you realize things can be gone in the blink of an eye. Like Troutfisher said always remember the true meaning of Christmas and also when things get rough in life just think 99 times out of 100 they could be worse.

  8. Had this problem not too long ago, then i was enlightened that they made split ring pliers. Anything with the little tooth on the end will work but heres an example. http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=90304&hvarDept=100&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=11&hvarSubCode=5&hvarTarget=browse
  9. Have yall had any experience with the Megabait Charlie susending swimbait? I saw these on one of the websites that advertise here. They look pretty good and tackletour.com gave them a pretty good review. For 7 bucks i thought it would be worth a shot, just wondering if yall could give me any input. Thanks.

Im getting a new combo for Christmas, its a 6'6" MH. I would like to get into some swimbaiting, but being that the combo is only a MH, ill need some on the lighter side. So what would yall reccommend as far as swimbaits that are an ounce or less and on the cheaper side, like 10 bucks or less. I know the obvious Storm and i will definitely give those a try but would like some other options. Any input is welcome.

  12. If im not mistaken they will match internet prices in the store. So mention you saw it for 140 online and you can save 30 bucks. Im pretty sure they do that.
  13. I posted this in the "Tackle Making" section, but thought i might post it here too, just to get more responses. I recently bought some spinnerbait heads off ebay. They come prepainted white, but I want some of them to be chartreuse, how would I go about painting them? I think ive seen this stuff that you paint with but its almost like powder coating something, is this something I could use?

I have had little experience with fishing jigs and with all the good things i hear about them i want to give them a go, so i have a few questions. If i was only going to start out with 2 sizes, just to keep it simple, what should they be? When i wanted to swim a jig would i want an action trailer say a twin tail grub, or a non-action trailer say a spinnerbait type trailer? I know there isnt always a clear cut answer for things like this but just some guidelines would be good. Thanks
  15. I just ordered 25 1/2 ounce spinnerbait heads with mustad hooks off ebay. The heads are all white and i was wondering how I could paint some of them chartreuse. I want some of them white, some white/char, and some all char. Isnt there some kind of paint that is kind of like powder coating? That might not be the best way to go about it but i dont know of any other way. Any input and links would be much appreciated.
  16. I was reading the "Fishing Glasses" thread and looking at the suggestions that people made and a lot were either for like 20 and under or costas, which i know are great sunglasses ive tried on a pair but kind of out of my price range right now. So my question is what is a good pair of polarized sunglasses in the 50 to 75 dollar range. I dont want really cheap ones but like i said i cant spend 150+. Any input would be appreciated.

  18. Went to BPS and saw that they had the Curado/Pro Qualifier combo on sale for $220. I know some of yall swear up and down by the curado, and I wanted to get one but a little too rich for my blood right now. Just giving yall the heads up in case you looking for an early Christmass present to yourself.
  19. I bought a Field and Stream magazine today and it had an article where they tested 6 different crankbaits to see if they ran as advertised. Lures tested: Rapala DT10, Bomber Fat A B06F, BPS XPS Extreme, Cordell Wally Diver CD6, Bandit 300 Series, and Luhr Jensen Radar 10. Even though they all ran true out of the package, the only one that ran at its advertised depth was the Rapala. Others were off by 1 to 6 feet. Just thought I would give yall a heads up, maybe that will help you decide on the next crankbait you buy.
  20. You can get them from Wal-mart for a buck, usually they are on a little spinnerbait/buzzbait hanger on the bottom of the racks. You will get what you pay for, but ive used one myself and caught fish on it.
  21. Ive heard of some people using a fluke type bait.

  23. I have to agree on all the emails, it is a little overboard. But im with Tom Bass, since im only about 5 minutes away im there all the time. The staff there seem to really know a lot about the department they work in. The guy behind the reel counter even knows who i am and says hey to me everytime i come in and has helped me with any question ive had. Ive never had any experience when they didnt have what i wanted.
