  1. I'm going to buy the pro qualifier reel I just need a decent rod to go with it. I can save up to buy a better one down the road, but id like to be able to use the new reel I'm getting as soon as I get it.
  2. I could probably hold off, but I'm afraid if I do my ol lady will get ahold of the cash I have saved up for it and spend it. Being so new to fishing I don't think I need a rod that's that expensive. This is actually gonna be my first reel that's over 30$.
  3. I've finally got enough $ to get a real bait caster. Gonna get a BP qualifier. Any suggestions? I've only got like 40$ to play with. Is that enough or should I just ride it out and wait till I've got a little more.
  4. I've decided to throw them in my lunch box for the days when I plan on fishing after work. The ice should keep them nice n cool.
  5. That could work, I keep them all as straight as possible so they keep the original shape and form. Havnt haduch problems with that, more with when I'm putting them on the hook they tend to rip and tare a lot easier.
  6. So I've got all my soft plastics sorted by worm / creature etc. But I've noticed after they sit in my truck while I'm at work( because I can't exactly bring in my book bag, there's litterly no where to out it sadly,) that the plastics have gotten hot obviously and have lost some integrity. Is there any way to remedy this beside taking them inside. Like I said that's not really an option for when I'm at work and trying to hit the lake after work.
  7. I agree, I got such a rush of feeling the hit and setting the hook everything else just slips my mind. @WRB I don't think lack of focus has anything to do with it for me at least, I'm very focus so I can notice the slightest the on my line.
  8. I have 3 small boxes full of buzz baits a few top waters and hooks and crank baits. I usually just take a spinning rod because I havnt been able to get the bait caster I've been wanting yet or figure out how to properly use this old bait caster my dad's lent me. I also have 3 gallon zip locks 1 for just senkos because I can't seem to stop buying them, 1 for creature baits, and 1 for trailers
  9. Growing up with my grandparents my grandpa would always fish early mornings, so he always smelled like fish. So the smell of fish brings back good childhood memories for me. Plus setting that hook, even tho sometimes j to a log or rock and then feeling the weight of the fish and watching em jump up out of the water is an adrenaline rush for me. You never know what's at the end of that line. And that always makes it exciting. Also constantly being on the hunt for a 4+ lb bass since I havnt got anything more then 2 lbs so far keeps me coming back for more.

So Glenn May had that video of fishing jigs come out yesterday and like a fishing addict I had to watch it. Now I'm in the mood to try out jigs again. I've had success on them very few times. Is there a better time of day to fish these? Will I be able to fish them from shore? Also do I need to put any sent On them like I do with my soft plastic worms.
  11. I really need to do that for the pond by my house, there's so many in there you always catch somthing, but that's because they're all starving for food. Not nearly enough frogs to go round
  12. Wow, that's a nice looking fish.
  13. I've been burning through soft baits lately so probably around 30-40$ on plastics and trying new hard baits.
  14. For me, when I go to a new place to fish the very first thing im throwing is a soft plastic worm preferable a Senko or a yum. I have yet to get skunked when using these. If the vegetation is heavy I'd definitely go Texas rig.
  15. Yall are making me really be wanna try to eat a bass now I know they're boney but I didn't know they didn't taste very good at all. My ol lady's grandma has been hounding me about keeping what I catch so we can fry them up. I've really only every ate crappie catfiah and cod.
  16. If I catch a big one, which has only happened once I like to let them go even tho the park Ranger had asked me to remove them to help boost the sun fish population, which I don't care about. I was extremely happy about catching that big fish, throwing him back in means I can possible help make someone elses day by catching that big fish.
  17. I'm a pretty novice fisher and once I figured out what the bite felt like I was able to detect it in a river current.
  18. Don't give up, summer is gonna be the hardest time of the year to catch bass. I'd suggest hitting up a new spot early in the morning or late in the afternoon. If that doesn't help, then just wait till fall and give it a try again.
  19. I tend to get caught up enjoying being by the water and end up missing a bite that comes from the first cast and fall of a soft plastic. Then it seems like after that I'm ready to set hooks and don't get another bite for hours.
  20. As a kid me and my cousin would always spend 1 month of the summer every year, they had a little pond on their property and we would always go fishing there, no bass that I can recall catching but I've had my fair share of memory loss from.... Things.... But anyways he would always go in the barn next to the pond and would get a cup film of dog food and threw it out over the pond and the catfish would come up to the top to eat and it made it super easy for me to catch them. Will never forget those good times.
  21. I can vouch that it's hard in the summer months, but that doesn't stop me from going out every weekend. Even if 4 hours out only brings me 2 fish, I'm much happier doing that then sitting at home all day.
  22. Not really, probably about 3.5 - 4 ft visibility. I'm going fairly alow, burning it hasn't produced any bites so I'm going at about a moderate pace I'd say. Seems like going to slow atm isn't catching their attention.
  23. I found out that the weight of them messed with the baits I'm throwing
  24. I've seen catfish come up to the top and do the same thing, thinking they where bass I was throwing every top water I had until I realized they where cats
  25. Where that little hump is between his eyes is where I hooked him, like I said, luckily I missed the eyes.
