  1. Muddy and Avid making true their promise of covering for the gas on the trip.
  2. Sure will, thats a tough one. :'(
  3. Flippin a 1/2 black jig with a blue trailer in the cypress, bull rush, and docks adjacent to deeper water. Early spring high water, muddy conditions are actually a plus in my area. It tends to push the fish a little shallower and they hang tight to cover. I have caught some of my biggest bass of the year under these conditions.
  4. Excellent observation. This is one of the main reasons I do not fish for bass on their beds.
  5. You just have to sneak out early so no one sees you and don't put your shoes on until you get outside, lol.
  6. Have a good one and I just want you to know that I support all the veterans of the Civil War, ;D
  7. I am going to go against the grain here. For smallies in the river I use a 6' MH X Fast spinning rod with #8 test line. For green bass on a lake, I use a 6' 6" MH X Fast baitcaster with #10 or #12 test.
  8. I would suggest pouring and tying your own. Its not that hard and you can put together exactly what you want.
  9. First of all, this site is a wealth of information, read, read, read. Then its a matter of spending time on the water to adapt all of your intake to your style and preferences of fishing. Good luck.
  10. I don't think fishing for spawning bass is a crime or anything. It is my decision not to do it, thats all. Everyone has that choice. I am only speaking for myself. I did it years ago and caught some big fish in doing so. I am just older now and chose not to fish for them on beds. Its just too easy and while I am not so sure of how much its stresses them to be caught I just chose to let them proliferate in peace. I am not going to knock anyone that does this nor do I support it. Its up to each fisherman to make that decision. Good luck.
  11. I do not know the circumstances of your health but, I hope your recovery is a smooth and healthy one, I enjoy your post, welcome back.
  12. Wow, you guys are lucky. I would love to see a whale. I have been tuna and mako fishing many times off the coast of Virginia and Maryland and while I see tons of porpoises I have never seen a whale. Cool stuff.

Unfortunately the world runs on the almighty dollar. If you think about your situation this seemingly crisis could very well be a blessing. You have the unique opportunity to stay with your kids and raise them and your kids have their dad with them to help form their characters instead of a outside source. Keep a positive view of your situation, like everyone said, its all happening for a reason. Each of us has their own unique path in life. Its not what life throws at you, its how you deal with it. Good luck and God Bless.
  14. A condom?, a gold high heel?, are you fishing in a red light district part of the lake? Does this lake have game wardens or a vice squad? ;D
  15. I have to agree on that one.
  16. Thanks for your hard work Glenn. I am sure it is quite the task to keep this site running so smoothly, as well as, keeping us all in line, lol.
  17. Congrats to Boyd. Home lake or not, he made the right decisions and put good fish in the boat. Home lake can be a disadvantage as well as a advantage at times. He worked hard to get there, fished well and got the job done fishing against some of the best. Its nice to see a fresh face. He may be new to most of us but, I think I heard where he fished the Federation Trail for 18 years so, I would say he knows his stuff. Good job and Kudos to him. I for one am happy for him.
  18. , ummmmmm beeeeeeeerrrrr !

I agree with LBH, class act.
  20. You are young so I would put it back for when you are older and have kids. Save it for beating their butts when they are bad. It will save you from cutting a switch. Sound bad?, you will know what I mean when you have kids, lol. ;D
  21. After ice out and with temps in the range you are talking about, main lake points are my first choice, especially the ones that have a sharp 45 degree slope, are stair stepped, contain some structure, as well as, are close to a creek channel. A creek channel is a underwater highway the bass use to move up to these points. My favorite baits for these points are jigs ( usually 1/2 oz ) in black and blue or green pumpkin, 4" tubes in green pumpkin or a black or smoke color, 4" Dead Ringers, Senkos for suspended fish and slow rolled 1 1/2 single blade spinnerbaits. Another option is a no. 10 or 12 Husky Jerk in the deep diver style. I start at the very end of these points and work my way up until I find out where they are at in relation to these areas. Use your depth finder. If you can find a creek channel or point with some rip rap rock, sunken trees or wood piles, etc., this is a good choice and a good place to start your search. Good luck.
