  1. i use the zebco rhino 6'6" mh as a beater rod, i will either have a 33 or a black max on it with 17lb stren mono. i can take the two pieces apart and put it on the dash and if i have 10 or 20min at a local pond i can take advantage of that. also have a daiwa laguna spin rod and a lews ah 300 with 10lb stren i use for senkos, another cheap combo that i wont go swimming for.... usually. niether rod has much sensetivity and the eye on the laguna is cracked so soon im going to change it out for a cherrywood
  2. i like the pad crasher junior, only 1/4 oz, but using a mh/fast and 17lb mono/30lb braid you can cast it fine
  3. best tip i can give you is lay it down in the order you took it off. and memorize which screw goes where, (if one is shorter/longer)
  4. when i get time i might message a pic of the insides to you to see if you can spot a problem.
  5. drag was probably around half tight, it doesnt do it when loose but once you start to tighten it it does. what does AR stand for ? it functions fine, casts good, reels good, just that drag. so should some grease make that all fine ?
  6. Today when I started fishing I checked my drag to make sure it was set and when it started coming out it make a screeching loud noise, Any ideas ? Needs grease ?
  7. its up to you on whether to spend more on a rod or splurge on a reel, imo with spinning you dont need the best reel, most cast the same distance in my experience, retrieve and drag smoothness is the biggest difference. i would say go for the better sensitivity, especially for a finesse rod. i will say im not the biggest fan of micro guides.
  8. Okeechobee, lake fork, and clear lake.
  9. i pretty much never lock down my drag unless i'm snagged and need to break off. i run it pretty tight when i can especially around thick cover, what exactly would it mess up if it did mess something up ? would said part be easily replaceable by the owner.
  10. so if you stick yourself with a hook youll also stop using hooks ?
  11. abu garcia vengeance with a abu garcia promax could make a good combo for cheap, get a 7'6" heavy rod and some 50 lb braid, that should cut it perfectly. power pro is my reccomendation for braid but theres other good ones out there. if you want something nicer a st croix bass x 7'4" heavy as mentioned above would also be a very nice rod.
  12. It's mostly protected from wind and no boats what so ever. And there is a bed there, I just found it.
  13. so a brush pile in 2 foot of water with a 15 foot drop right after the brush is probably a good bet,
  14. a tiny underspin with a 2" white or black grub (depending on time of day and water clarity.)
  15. you fish long enough,,,, youll stick a 5+lber and yes its doable on 10lb test i did it 2 days ago
  16. 7' mh/f casting rod 7.1:1 casting reel 7.5in black shad ribbon tail | 1/4 oz wieght | 4/0 ewg worm hook white 1/4 oz tandem spinnerbait 1/4 oz black frog
  17. smallmouth will be a more bronze-like color, spotted bass (which per lb fight harder than largemouth imo) will have those lines of spots beneath the lateral line, also note that the dorsal (top) fin on a largemouth gets much shorter in the middle than the spotted bass.
  18. thats a largy alright. what is you setup ? i normally ski fish like that in on top of the water
  19. if i remember correctly he owns a part of the company,
  20. abu garcia rods tend to be a bit on the heavier side, but i actually like that since i mostly fish worms jigs and swimmers, frogs are also common use for me.
  21. i tried for 20 minutes, 30 seconds of that was casting.
