Pick Up Trucks

The true world record
if anything, that pic was proof that properly holding a bass by just the lip without putting angle in the jaw doesn't hurt them. even when she died, she didn't look malnourished, as evidenced by the pic at the bottom of this article. World Record Chasers | The Story of “Dottie” the 25 pound Largemouth Bass – Bass Fishing Facts that fish died of old age.

Anybody Ever Get Caught Without Their License?
I have a lifetime sportsman's (license that covers everything both hunting/fishing with the exception of a few $0.00 permits that need printing once a year) and have a laminated copy that I keep in my hunting pack, my main tackle box, and my wallet. so, no I haven't.

Lost my PB
with an 8-10 lb fish you can easily put 30lbs of pressure on braided line due to the lack of stretch. especially during hooksets or when the fish is close to you. drag should never be completely locked, it can be set really tight, but never all the way.

Do people really YANK the hook so hard that it is ripping a gash and pulling out ?
my great grandad always kept a net with him when bluegill fishing, to scoop up dying fish whose lips he had ripped off. this was a common occurrence.

Scent for lures?
does it make a difference ? ive never used any.

Whats Europe's most popular sport fish?
saw a video on youtube of a guy catching wels catfish on a whopper plopper, i never knew they would take lures consistently, much less blow up on a topwater bait.

how to rig first boat (carolina skiff j14)
I was going to try to extend the deck back some if I could, just to have more space to stand and maybe a place to store things. not entirely sure how I would go about it and like I said it's not a must have, just a preference. in honesty I could put a motor and a trolling motor on it and be happy just to have a boat. Also, the pond has been fixed and I was able to push it into the water the other day; I immediately realized that stability wasn't going to be a problem like I had thought before, you can stand on the side and it barely tilts. Much more stable than I remember, maybe I just scared easy as a kid. It is very heavy, so I'll probably go with max rated hp, or just a little under as suggested.

pretty sure that's the exact same boat actually, minus the motor and seat.

Do crawfish live in the local lake?
There's 30-40 holes from crawfish burrowing in my yard in the morning if it rains a lot. I'd say it's safe to say they probably do.

Bowfin/ Grinnal
Caught 3 in 30 minutes on a popper once, one was pushing 9 lbs. In the years since then I've managed two, one that I caught on a cricket while getting some bluegills to eat. The other screwed up a savage gear swimbait, that's the only time I've ever been unhappy to see one.

how to rig first boat (carolina skiff j14)
There is a 14-foot Carolina Skiff that been beached ever since my family's pond busted, they said if I could get it on a trailer I could have it. it's basically a big fiberglass Jon Boat. 14 feet long x 64 inches wide, I think. Looking for advice on what to do to make it into a good bass fishing boat. as of right now it is completely bare, just a boat and a paddle, and that thing is a pain to paddle. the type of water I fish is mostly shallow swampy areas (banks lake/rays millpond in Ga), and small rivers, (alapaha, satilla, ocmulgee) though a trip to Blackshear or even Eufaula/Seminole every once in a while, is not out of the question. and I also want to take a trip to tired creek lake and fish a swimbait to see if I can find one of those teeners that have been popping up on occasion out there. my plans are a small outboard motor, a bow-mount trolling motor with foot control, a wood deck with carpet. once all that is sorted out maybe some type of electronics if I start trying to fish deeper water. my main questions: 1: would decking a boat that size make it tippy or off balance. I don't think it would but just want to make sure. It seems quite stable; I would like to keep it that way. (its not a must have but it would make flipping/pitching easier to be elevated) 2: would this boat be safe to handle slight winds on larger lakes like Eufaula and Seminole, or would I need to only go on the calmest days and stick close to shore to avoid rough water. (never been on water that big and unsure what to expect if I did go to fish it) 3: what size motor ? 5, 10, 15, 25hp ? (again, ill mostly be fishing places less than a mile across, but larger lakes aren't out of the question if i get the chance.) 4: is there anything that I am overlooking ? anything that a first timer often doesn't think of. tell me. I know very little about boats. 5: is this to heavy / to much boat for my purposes, would I be better off with a lighter 12 or 14ft aluminum jon. any advice is welcome outside of just drop 50,000 on a new bass boat. or a kayak, absolutely no, banks and rays mill have way to many gators for that, and way to many little kids training them to see people as a food source. (I know they don't eat people often; I don't plan to help that change anytime soon.)

What 3 rod set ups???
fishing mostly gunky farm ponds. 7'mh/m 17lb mono and a square bill/lippless 7'mh/f with 17lb mono for jigs/trig worms 7'6 h/f and 50-65lb braid for frog/flip/punch in cleaner water id throw out the heavy rod for a spinning setup.

Rod Selection: The Basics
As far as the "3 rod system" goes I have an easier time making a mh/f rod work with trebles than I do using a mh/f in place of a h/f for frogs and heavy cover pitching. But then again, I'm in the south so I'm biased toward the heavy cover setup. my most used rods in order ------------------------- 7'mh/f (light t-rig and jig/moving and treble baits) 6'6 m/f(spinning) (weightless t-rigs, lures under 1/4 oz) 7'5 h/f (frog / pitching, heavy cover rod) 7' h/f (heavy t rig/jig, swimbaits) 5'6 mh (ugly stik I use with 25lb test for up-close work around overhanging limbs, might sounds goofy but it works) The places I fish are borderline swamps and have some double-digit bass in them, so I tend to lean towards heavier equipment.

B.A.S.S Vs MLF
5 fish to me is preferable to total weight, more focus on quality than quantity. most people I know prefer one big bite to a few small ones. I don't like the idea of zeroing weights, it cheapens the win to me, of course the guy in 10th doesn't have much chance, he's caught 10lbs less in two days than the guy leading, the guy who caught the most deserves the lead.

Cheap Reels
I have a black max that i bought in 2015 as my first baitcaster, it hauled in a 7lb 13oz bass just a week ago and has handled two fish over 9lbs in its 7 years of life. it's not as smooth as when I bought it, its scratched and I've had to scrape bits of the drag plate off of the inside of the main gear to fix the drag a time or two, but it's still going nonetheless. Kasting is a mixed bag for me, I have two of their old reels from when they sponsored the forum here. a stealth and a royale legend. both are the same price as black max roughly, and neither is quite as smooth. I seldom use them anymore but neither has broken and both caught fish over 7lbs. I have a diawa laguna casting reel, it's my only left-handed reel because Walmart wouldn't let me return it, actually they tried to say i had already been refunded (i checked and i had not) and threatened to arrest me. that experience after two rods being shipped broken i will never deal with Walmart again. period. it's a very smooth reel and casts good, but I can't speak for its durability as it rarely gets used due to being left-handed.

frog rod.. but not a beast?
diawa aird x 7'H not too thick or heavy, but stiff enough to set the hooks, short enough to be easy on the wrists.
-
What should I have Done...?
slow down and downsize or upsize, deep water, shade, and current are key.
