Cool deal, which part of the river were you fishing? I camp for a week at millers ferry every Memorial Day

Wow rain in the state of Tennessee? It must have missed me, I have only seen rain twice since Labor Day in knoxville during daylight hours. One of which was last Sunday which I'm guessing is when you were fishing

Looks like a spotted bass to me, the markings below the lateral line being the telling characteristic. I think the reason the jaw is coming back to the edge of the eye is because the fish is being curled slightly in the picture

I've never fished that particular lake but on the same river a few lakes up on the same river I'm hearing they are eating frogs on top of the scum and chasing baitfish out on the edges of scum. If that's not working go with summer ledge patterns because it's still summer weather wise

Color is important at times but action is way more important. I've been in a boat plenty of times when someone catches lots of fish on the silliest color of lure that looks nothing like the main forage

The fish in the picture is in grass not dirt. We have a pond at work with bass that are trained and they jump onto the grass for bluegill all the time. They are like 9 years old and flop in the grass weekly. A bunch of folks on this thread suggested taking an accurate measurement, I don't think an "accurate" measurement is possible without laying the fish down

This is probably excellent advice 90 something percent of the time but I love fishing gin clear water (10+ ft visibility) with a wake bait or spook. You better have your adult diapers on when a big smallmouth comes up from 20 ft to hit a topwater

Nice work, my buddy discovered that once when fishing a popper and picking out backlashes. The only difference was he did not hook any of his bites because he was picking out backlashes and I was sitting in the back of the boat and could not stop laughing

I eat some of the legal keeper fish that I catch so I guess I am the jerk in this whole scenario. I don't ever ask other people what they were using or where, I just say hello or how's it going. I also share legal keepers with the less fortunate. In general it is my opinion that not being a jerk is always the best play. Who wants to be known as someone who doesn't share fish with their fellow man?
