  1. Or toss a fluke ! Because it’s magical
  2. Apparently in a recent BASS event, some guy had a 24.5 lb limit of largemouth on Champlain so I’m guessing we are going to see a lot of both . I’m finally off the roof so going to stream some while attempting to unclog a mop sink
  3. The wait helps often but if the frog disappears, only one thing could have taken it under.
  4. I could really go for a fake winter this year. My shovel took a beating in January
  5. I somehow have decent luck with frog fish nowadays but I use 50 lb seaguar braid and put the steel to ‘em with ill intent
  6. @Tennessee Boy, it’s all fun and games until the tallest tree in the woods you used for a landmark fell over
  7. @The Baron, what kind of line you got tied to the frogs ?
  8. Nicely done, that’s the only way I can find my magic spots is line up things on the bank. I have GPS at console but the dog might as well be reading it
  9. Oh you can definitely ruin a pond with a rod and reel . Ponds don’t count 😂 granted it will rebound but yes that’s a different ballgame and most pond managers will say you have to harvest anything under 2 lbs so it’s a delicate balance. But in our world in TN a pond is not a natural thing. They only exist after a bulldozer was present remember in my post you are referencing I said “unless you build a dam” . Thats why I mentioned beavers as well
  10. Dogs days and drought are the absolute best river SMB conditions where I’m at. The shallower the better and fish topwater. Tons of fun. Unfortunately our mini drought ended when I was up north and now it’s back to normal jungle conditions
  11. Them ole brown fish by billy westmorland
  12. I mean, they are ancient but you can see the fish moving. Not sure if that’s live or live feedback Yep, all boats had them straight from the factory back in the day. I have actually put transducers on broom handle and water bottles and panned around, probably should have patented that 😂 😂

Crazy ain’t it? Back when, I never owned a dog of my own but always loved petting them. Then I met my wife and we have 3 dogs. I dread vacation because I just worry about the dogs the whole time. Our big pyranese mix Cori is 13 or so and not terribly long for this world but she’s had a great run. My wife had Cori’s “end of life” photos taken 2 years ago but she just keeps on barking and smiling. Got an old beagle basset too but they seem to last a long time, he’s over 10 but not sure exactly how old
  14. Ah. I meant bassmaster is getting more engagement, views, etc. don’t know bout BPT cuz I don’t watch it
  15. Then how do you know they were all starting at their screens ?
  16. Actually it is working, they get more and more engagement, clicks, and views now than ever. They may be reaping a benefit from all the controversy, it sells. wait, who created this topic?? 😂 😂
  17. We have an extremely dedicated group of individuals in Knoxville known as CFI, conservation fisheries inc. They have been protecting and literally saving species of fish since the 1980s. If there was a native fish in peril, these guys would be absolutely all over it. As you might have guessed, bass and crappie are not on their list of even a little concern https://www.conservationfisheries.org
  18. Well yeah, but you said get something that doesn’t use air to float. Air floats better than metal……. sure a whitewater raft is tougher but they run the roughest waters on the planet
  19. The ones subway uses are crunchy and white

Bet he was a good boy! Sorry to hear
  21. @ol'crickety, the way it was explained to us in fisheries classes and even working with small stream brook trout that had been severely extirpated was as follows: fisherman with rod and reel aren’t capable of altering fish population dynamics. Numbers vary depending on where you are but these small stream trout we worked with experience 70% natural mortality every single year. And the southern Appalachian brook trout has persisted for a long long time with that mortality rate. I’ve heard people say with bass in reservoirs it’s usually over 50%, I personally haven’t sampled them much. So the fish are literally going to die on their own whether you catch and release them, eat them, whatever. What harmed the brook trout was logging practices and exotic species introduction, but mainly logging. It was way back when so they didn’t have to follow any best management practices, just destroyed the creeks basically. almost all wildlife/fisheries management comes down to habitat. The exceptions would be maybe fishing with nets or dynamite. I’m sure some aggressive poachers could kill lots of fish but not quite enough in most cases . If you don’t poison the water, build a dam, introduce a thousand head of cattle on a critical darter or Madtom habitat, etc., the fish will do their thing like they have for centuries. Some of the best pro fisherman still skunk with live sonar and they only keep 5 that they could legally eat anyway. Beavers are actually more capable of ruining a fish population than a human with a fishing pole and a livescope now completely nuking aquatic veg, don’t get me started 😂
  22. Air floats very well, coast guard and police use inflatable boats. As well as class 5 whitewater rafters
  23. It’s just a bloodline , dozens of fish have them. Especially tuna. I’ve never seen a fish over 2-3 lbs that didn’t have a hint of bloodline actually
