  1. @Goby, 😂! Cedar bluff rd I swear is a school zone from one end to the other, and it’s flashing yellow from 11 am to 5 pm. How many times can you leave school in one day??? any esox? There be some monster striper in there too
  2. Nah, I’m far from a philosopher. I don’t go to the woods intentionally to live simply. Or think or write. Just fish
  3. It’s tomorrow guys……. 😂 happy new year everyone
  4. Started simple and never strayed so I haven’t simplified, just fish whenever possible with whatever I’ve got
  5. Good deal!!!
  6. I can drive a boat in the summer heat months down south….
  7. It ain’t always quite that easy. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve replaced all the batteries in all the ones at mom’s house and they were all still beeping. It’s loads of fun at 11:30 pm
  8. If I ever catch one that would have a chance, it would be before March or after November 😂 SMB love “winters” here
  9. Rachel wanted to practice rowing with oars/oarlocks in swift water so she can accompany friends on trout floats with drift boats and help row. I knew a good place to practice but it hasn’t been fishing well since Hurricane Helene destroyed it a year ago. We loaded up the small boat and ran way up some shoals and started drifting , she picked it up quickly and did great. We got down to some deeper water, the only place I’ve seen much fish activity on this stretch since the hurricane. Well by then she says “my shoulders are tired, I need a nap” 😂 😂. So now I’m back on the oars. I did catch a tiny spotted bass and missed another bite, fun in the sun
  10. Fishing was slow, weather was amazing. Float planes, loons, bald eagles, and beavers were all out enjoying it
  11. glad to have you back @Team9nine!
  12. My buddy’s wife went to Iowa so I know to say “go hawks” even tho it’s Hawkeyes
  13. Happy birthday!!!
  14. That’s awesome @Blue Raider Bob!!! I live across the river on the left side of your photo back a mile or 3. I have caught some nice fish where you’re standing…… and walked those railroad tracks to ballgames and classes
  15. Hey @HawkeyeSmallie, I’m your buddy! You should be rich from sports gambling, just take the under on the Hawkeyes every time……. Just playing man, the house always wins, smart play deleting the apps. I take my dog fishing sometimes but he stinks up my truck something fierce………. i liked your line that read something like “every time I go fishing I’m glad I went” last night I launched at 5:15 and it’s pretty dark at 6. Seems like a waste of time until you’re out there, then the thought is always “beats folding laundry” I wish you lived closer, I bet you would keep us all laughing in the boat Signing off now to go fold laundry before work 😡
  16. They also told me adding the endoscopy only takes and extra half hour or less
  17. We have that roller coaster all the time. Had a day last week with frost in the morning and 70 plus in the afternoon . I can remember several times when it was even more drastic our first snow was a day or three after Halloween
  18. So I saw an oncologist Monday and he said my PSA test was all normal……. Only problem is I never knew they did a PSA test 😂 But that’s good news, I think it was over a year ago and I had absolutely no clue
  19. Congrats on the green list ! Nice fish too
  20. I just saw a guy mowing in shorts granted he appears to have planted the cool season stuff and waters the crap out of it, everyone else’s yard has been dormant for weeks. There are always a few people that maintain a lush green yard all winter long with tons of watering

@gim and @HawkeyeSmallie, I indeed camped on isle royale for 6 days. They have the world’s longest predator/prey study ongoing there. We walked quite a bit of the island but you can’t see much, the bushes are 8 feet tall, it’s like walking thru a car wash. Saw some otters and a fox, and plenty of wolf and moose scat but it’s too thick to see much . Good pike fishing ! Also saw a giant brook trout they call a “coaster” but it was very smart and wouldn’t bite, I think it briefly chased a fluke. @Bluebasser86, congrats!!!!
  22. @casts_by_fly, it’s slightly different in my region. The signs you look for are all from humans. Complaining, sheer panic, excessive purchasing of rapidly perishable food items, and extremely excessive salting of roads that turns perfectly good highway into a corrosive mess about the consistency of a gravel road
  23. For some reason I always have to skip the black bass world championship, don’t know why but I just don’t enjoy them. Kind of like deep saltwater fishing on ESPN Sundays when I was growing up, I always changed the channel
