Alternate perspective: I hate puzzles! I mean literally hate them. When there’s one at the house for family gatherings and somebody makes me help their kid with the puzzle, my eyes go crossed. I’d rather take a minor beating I find absolutely no fun in turning bass fishing into a puzzle, I just need to go several times each week and fish, without puzzles

Depends on the shiner. There are dozens of different kinds. Big golden shiners in FLA need a balloon, Tennessee shiners are not much bigger than a crappie minnow and can be rigged on small jig heads, circle hooks, split shot, small bobber, etc.

Hahah. Such is life, you’ll get em again. Spring time is typically hard fishing for me too. My friend that normally can go to his favorite spot and catch big spring smallmouth, he went out Sunday and could only catch a catfish.

I fished some perfect 3 inch threadfin shad that I caught myself a couple weeks ago right where Brian Schmitt and several other classic competitors were fishing. I caught a drum and a crappie, Schmitt finished second in the bassmaster classic. Heck no it’s not cheating, it can be downright difficult fairly often
