  1. I mentioned your name, because your success rate at La Cygne seemed better than mine. I also usually fish alone and don't mind someone jumping in with me. My success at La Cygne has been spotty. A few really good days, with several slow ones, but hooking into a 5+ pound bass can quickly change things.
  2. With my schedule, I usually fish during the weekdays. Lately, Wednesday has been La Cygne day for me. @Bluebasser86 is the Veteran at La Cygne.
  3. I just put a drop of super glue on the barbs and slide the bait over the super glue.
  4. The wonderful lake called La Cygne. Full of large bass, but they don't always bite. At least you didn't get skunked. It is my favorite lake around here, but it has skunked me more than once. If I lived in Topeka, Shawnee would be my destination. From a previous post, it sounds like the smallies are biting there.
  5. black that is one thing I learned right away on that lake. there is a lot of shallow water, with logs.
  6. Not sure how to fix the barrel slop problem, but if your sights or scope are on your barrel it should not affect accuracy. if the sights are on the receiver, it will affect accuracy. one thing that can affect accuracy with a break barrel rifle is the trigger, they act a little differently than a firearm trigger. often times there is a lot of creep before it releases. Keep a firm grip on the gun through the trigger pull. if the trigger has a heavy pull, the gun can jump when the trigger breaks. A smooth steady trigger pull will help accuracy. one of the most important aspects of air gun accuracy is ammo. every gun is different. I have 4 break barrel rifles. 2 .177 and 2 .22 caliber. 2 are springers and 2 have a gas piston. they all can be accurate, but they all are very finicky about which ammo I use. all 4 of them prefer different brands of ammo. good luck. I have taken rabbits, doves, squirrels, and a few raccoon with my .22 air rifles. they are a lot of fun to hunt with and if you miss, often times it does not spook the game, so you can often get a second chance.
  7. in soft plastics it is White. Pink on any bait for me does not get bit
  8. unfortuntely nearly all state regulations can be hard to read. Every fisheries biologist I have talked to, stated it is not a good practice to release live baitfish if the fish were not caught in that body of water.
  9. I agree. it is best to learn the regulations from your state. Here in Kansas it is pretty strict, because of the nuisance species. here is a sample of some of our regulations. https://ksoutdoors.com/Fishing/Fishing-Regulations/Bait-Fish
  10. that is how most, carp and other invasive species enter isolated ponds and lakes. never a good idea to dump live baitfish in a body of water. It is actually illegal to dump live baitfish on most public waters.
  11. first time I took my crappie fishing neighbor bass fishing all he owned were ultralights. I gave him a couple shroomz heads and a bag of TRDs. he caught a ton of bass, only losing a couple. setting the hook on a shroomz head is not much different than a crappie jig. an ultralight will work with a ned rig, but if you hook a large fish, you may have your hands full.
  12. my baitcaster drag was cranked down. cranked down there is 13.5 lbs of drag. he peeled the line off like it was an ultra light. Never had any other fish that size fight like that.
  13. spent the morning dragging a baby brush hog around weed edges on a local City lake. caught several largemouth, then this pig hammered the brush hog. I have caught a lot of bonus white bass in this lake, but I did not know it had wipers. It is my personal best Wiper. 24 inches long 7lb. 4oz.
  14. Spent the morning at Wyandotte. Caught several small bass plus a 3lb largemouth and a bonus 7lb. 4oz wiper. was there last week and the water was really green. the recent rains must have knocked down the algae. it looked a lot better today.
  15. I have never seen rollers on a Bass Boat trailer. My brother in law had an old Sylvan deep v with a roller trailer. it sucked to load.
  16. type of line has a lot to do with sensitivity also. as a general rule: mono is the least sensitive flourocarbon is usually better braid is the most sensitive. I have switched over to braid for most bottom contact lures. with a good rod you can feel every rock or tree the bait bumps. I suggest not using your fingertips with most braided lines. setting the hook on a big fish and having the drag slip, while the line is between your fingertips, is something you usually only do once.
  17. that is one of the few eastern Kansas Lakes I have not fished. Do the residents ever get cranky about fishing around their docks?
  18. looks like they have spinnerbaits, senko style baits, and crankbaits. Must be getting bored with making camo . This is a new approach for them. Usually they don't want the prey to see their products?
  19. I started wearing these this summer. keeps me cool and blocks the sun. pretty reasonable on Amazon. Baleaf brand https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071F126JL/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1
  20. Shawnne county lake is one of my favorite smaller lakes. I have done better there than Wyandotte this year. It has a good population of Largemouth and Smallmouth. a lot of the largemouth are in the 14-17 inch range with a few larger fish. Smallmouth tend to run a little smaller. a good population of largemouth hang around in both boat ramp coves. I have caught smallmouth and largemouth on the rocky points. I have never fished Shawnee state lake.
  21. received my new Kastking 7ft 3in speed demon pro worm/jig Rod last night. added my speed demon pro reel, spooled with 40lb power pro. I was a little underwhelmed with the rod at first . It was very slender and the tip seemed too light for a worm/jig rod. took it to a local power plant lake with hopes of hooking a large bass. threw a zoom ol monster with a 3/8 oz weight along rip rap banks. I immediately understood the reason for the light tip. The rod is very sensitive. I could feel every rock the worm hit. Much more sensitive than the fish eagle rod it replaced. Plus it weighed less than half of the fish eagle. didn't catch any monsters, but caught 3 bass between 2.5 and 3.5 lbs. the fish below was the largest. surprisingly hook sets were solid. Even with the light tip, it has a lot of backbone. it easily handled the 3 bass I caught today. It is not a $400.00 rod, but for $109.00 it was pretty impressive. It will get a lot of use on my boat.
  22. I dont foresee a time when that lure exists. If it ever does, it would not be a very good business decision to design a lure and only give it to your sponsored fisherman. They are sponsored to promote and sell the product.
  23. ^^^ this. If that does not work, back off to the deeper water and drag a big worm or jig off the edges of that flat. Like @ajay said. don't fish until you find the food.
  24. I have never seen a treble hook stuck in a Bass, that I caught. I have, however, seen a lot of wacky style hooks and a few worm hooks stuck in a bass' throat.
  25. years ago an old veteran fisherman told me, in the heat of summer fish big baits in the early afternoon, on structure close to shallow feeding areas. His reasoning for this was, the Bass fed in the early morning and are getting hungry again by early afternoon. they are not yet feeding, but they will hit an easy meal dropped on their nose. Not sure how much of that is true, but looking back at all of the bigger fish I have caught, a lot of them were in the middle of summer. Usually between noon and 3pm. In deeper water next to feeding areas. On big worms or jigs.
