  1. alger319, the problem was contestants trying to weigh-in Smallmouth as Spots because of patch on tongue. As I understand it a Smallmouth is not legal under 18".These folks are trying to call them Spottedbass because of rough spot. Would think you could or should be able to tell the difference between Spots and Smallmouth. If we are talking apples and apples not apples and oranges, I apologize :-[. I wasn't at the weigh-ins, was reading this in the newspaper. Actually (didn't have a dog in this hunt) just trying to figure out the red eye in some of the Bass I've caught ...
  2. Really like that suede look on hot rods myself, and WELCOME to the forums!!! As Ever, skillet
  3. This time of the year is hard on me too ! Was telling a friend the other day, "I do better in the middle of winter than this." Not holding my mouth right or what? Can't figure it out ;D... As Ever, skillet
  4. Here in TN there is a big BrouHa over a ruling that TN Wildlife made about Spotted Bass. They stubbed their toe and said ONLY Spots have a tooth patch on their tongue. Not True! Some folks tried to get Smallies thru at weigh-ins saying "I didn't know", Suurreeee ! This got me to thinking (dangerous sometimes). I have caught Bass that had red eyes. I didn't think Spots made it this far West in TN. Is this (red eyes) a Spot only characteristic :-/??? As Ever, skillet

Glad you finally "broke the ice"! Must be deep dodo to have to shut down all winter. One thing to be glad about, living in the South... As Ever, skillet

  9. With the boat pretty much camo'd out, IMHO as a package the truck just needs to be highlighted with camo. As others have said, both would be overkill ... As Ever, skillet

Got up this morning (4:30) to give this small lake another try. Was pretty sure there were some nice fish in it, just never caught one. Don't fish it much. The whole bank line is REALLY overgrown and most of it is so steep you have to be careful or end taking a swim. Fished from 5:00 to around 9:30 and didn't get a bite. Figured I had really offended the fishing gods with just my presence and they weren't about to smile on me. Decided to head for the house. Headed back around the lake and got to a corner where there is a lot of dead wood and lay downs. Just one more cast. Went ahead and cast into the middle of it, hooked and landed a PB!!!!!!!! Talked myself into buying a dig. scale not long ago, thankfully. She weighed 7lbs. 14ozs. If I had had a little bit of flat ground, I would have done an "Ike". Won't get me into the Double Digit Club but a really nice fish... As Ever, skillet
  13. Haven't tried it myself :-[, but have seen how well it worked . Have done a few things with PVC other than what it is supposed to be used for and it is great to work with and cheap. Using Elbows, T,s and straight running pieces there's no telling what you could build ... As Ever, skillet
  14. UPS delivered a package for me today!!! A CITICA (no. 2) Love 'em . IMHO if you get backlash (Professional Overrun) at the end of your cast, you need to have a heart to heart talk with your thumb ... As Ever, skillet BTW Ballistik, never heard about the Q tip and oil, Thanks

  19. We're not blessed, here in W. TN, with the big impondments like in central or E. TN. I would think somewhere near Nashville would get you everything you're looking for. Hopefully one of the fellas from around those parts will chime in... As Ever, skillet
  20. I have caught 2 or 3 Crappie on a No. 3 Mepps while Bass fishing at that pond that were "nice". So far he's the "nicest". I guess his stars were lined up right or something, cause he sure almost ended up in hot grease ... As Ever, skillet BTW thanks to everyone who tried to come up with an answer for me
  21. Can't add much to those answers! Just wanted to say WELCOME to the forums!!! As Ever, skillet

  23. Russ, Are you saying the one in the pic basically fought like a Crappie ? From the way I've heard folks talk about them (never caught one myself ), it's a wonder you're not still in the boat trying to land that one... As Ever, skillet
