  1. LOVE my Bionic Blades (I know not high end ) with either the Citica or the Symetre. But, I caught an awful lot of Bass on a Lew's Speed Stick and Zebco 33 ... As Ever, skillet
  2. No. 3 Mepps was the first lure I used when I got serious about Bass. The only time I talked with Bill Dance (late 70s), he spoke highly of Mepps. I still keep both white and brown with silver blade and the same with brass colored blade in my tackle box. There are 2 things about them, they get hung really bad and large Bass tend to get them in their gills. Straight retrieve, yoyo'd, twitched or buzzed on top great bait ... As Ever, skillet
  3. You've sure got the right to get excited! Well wishes for Mother and child! (Maybe a few for you too )... As Ever, skillet
  4. and you get to be my age and you're memory plays tricks on you! It's hard enough to keep things straight without folks going and changing their names for real ;D... As Ever, skillet
  5. WELCOME to the forums!!! Another from the great state of TN. I don't know if there is a magic answer that you can get from one of us. Read the articles and tips you can find here and see what pretains to you and ask questions on anything you read and want to know more about. I know that's a lot slower than someone with the "magic answer" ... As Ever, skillet
  6. I think I've heard all the responses possible when I try and explain catch & release and quit worrying about whether they understood or not. There are a number of things that my wife doesn't understand about me ;D but she completely understands about why I catch & release. The down side is she tries to explain the reasoning to those same Dummies, Bless her heart ... As Ever, skillet
  7. Years ago one of my Uncles gave up fishing and gave my Father a split bamboo fly rod and he didn't flyfish. It went into the attic and hasn't been seen since . I guess I never thought about bamboo for other types of fishing rods. Also, WELCOME to the forums!!! As Ever, skillet
  8. It really doesn't sound like anything I've heard of. Do know that if you can see them, they can see you. May be why they aren't paying any attention :-/... As Ever, skillet
  9. If the tooth fairy is in this in anyway, how many teeth did you lose ? IMHO Rapala is as good as they say! Was watching the VS channel and a Rapala came on and said that Rapala was responsible for more world records than anyother lure co. 28 I think ... As Ever, skillet
  10. Depending on where I'm going, either 2 baitcasters or a baitcaster and spinning rod. Seems like all the places I go to, you almost have to have a machete to make any headway ... As Ever, skillet
  11. Really, anything you would use in large lake! Make an exception, don't use many deep diving cranks because of loseing them. Have been having good luck with T-rigged Brush Hogs, Baby Brush Hogs and Ultra-Vibe Craws. With the cooler water, Husky Jerks. Won't be long till the water warms up enough for topwater lures ... 12. P-nut butter and 'nanner sandwich. Have put bacon on it and it's pretty good! It's amazing what p-nut butter will go with ... As Ever, skillet
  13. "Each to his own" I never understood apehangers but then again my hands would start to tingle from going to sleep ... As Ever, skillet

I had a '65 Falcon with a 289 V8 that only came with single exhaust and 2 barrel carb. Put a 4 barrel on it (ran like a bat out of torment) and decided it really needed dual exhausts (Cherry Bombs). I tried to go thru the inspection station after they had burnt out. Bad Mistake ;D! The first fellow turned me down and I griped (Second bad mistake ;D). The fellow in charge came over and asked me to step out of the car. He got in and really torqued the RPM's thru the roof. Actually thought the glass in the windows was gonna break. Needless to say, I didn't pass ... As Ever, skillet
  15. rondef, really great offer on your part ... As Ever, skillet
  16. Plastic Man, Thanks for the tip!!! I hadn't thought of that. The legs and body are one piece but I'll try just dipping the legs. Haven't lost anything if it doesn't work. I was going back to the Casting Frog, if I couldn't come up with something, anyway. Might even try it on the Casting Frog ;D... As Ever, skillet
  17. Have never used braid myself. If you do, I hope it solves your problem . I really like topwater and especially a Spook jr. Really hate to say this, don't really like it for an answer myself . If you possibly can, hold off on the baitcaster combo. Save and try to add some to the budget. Nothing wrong with BPS rods. I always wait for the Spring Fling (have bought 2 Bionic Blades on sale then). A better baitcaster will be easier to learn on and probably last you longer... As Ever, skillet BTW Money can get tight with baby on the way. Been there, done that!!!
  18. Apologize for my ignorance :-[. Had never heard of the lake... As Ever, skillet
  19. Bb101, really like Ribbits myself! Was looking for something that would float in one place. Haven't found any Ribbits like that yet ;D... As Ever, skillet
  20. I don't really remember using spinning gear (have the same reel as you) for a Spook jr. I have used it for the likes of orig. floating Rapala or baby Torpedo and it was OK. Like CRN said you should have tension on your line when you start reeling or line twist would really bad. There's no way to have tension when you are walking the dog :-/... As Ever, skillet
  21. Let us know where you're at, probably get more help that way ... As Ever, skillet BTW I've been catching some on T-rigged Brush Hogs and Husky Jerks

Never actually fished for them myself. I did foul hook one once with a Mepps 3, he jumped twice and the hook pulled loose. I now know why folks fish for them. The way you described it, sure sounds like a carp. Have never heard of one acting that way though ... As Ever, skillet
  23. WELCOME
  24. I have always used the Snag-Proof Casting Frog (I have snagged one ;D) and just bought and used a Bigfoot. I was hopeing (because of the shape of the foot) that you could pull it across the muck to an opening and then the feet would kick in like a Ribbit. Just wanted to tell ya'll they didn't work as well as hoped, for me. The legs seemed a little too stiff. If you just pulled them in open water, they worked. That's not what I was looking for... As Ever, skillet
  25. I'm a sucker for jerkbaits for some reason. They work good for me, just not as good as other baits. I use the X-Rap or Husky Jerk mostly. I started out trying the Rogue (really like their colors) but IMHO you have to go thru at least 3 to get 1 that suspends right. Have never had that problem with Rapala... As Ever, skillet
