Send an e-mail to Craig DeFronzo at Micro Munch Tackle. Craig is earthworm77, a longtime BassResource.com member and writer. Tell him you are one of us and mention that I suggested contacting him. Rod & reel
G. Loomis IMX MBR844C and Shimano CTE200GT. The MSRP will exceed your budget a bit, but this rod and reel can be found cheaper if you shop around and have some patience. Keep an eye on our Flea Market, there are some great buys there every day. 8-)

Shimano Saros or Stradic
The new Stradic 2500 FI incorporates many of the features that were previously only offered on the Stella. When it was introduced in 2007, the reel was awarded ICAST "Best In Class". http://www.womensoutdoorwire.com/releases/130723 8-)

Huge Worms
The Rage Tail Anaconda was a big producer for me last year. They are well worth the money if you target big bass. They apparently last forever, too. I don't really know how many bass over 5 lbs I caught late summer/ early fall on this bait, but at least a dozen. I have five bags of Anaconda, but have only fished three worms...Two were lost on hang-ups. 8-)

Switching to baitcasting
Confusing isn't it? Everyone has their "favorite" brands and reels. I recommend Shimano always and the Citica in particular. However, if you have the money, the CH50MG is being discontinued and you might find a deal if you shop around. *** had them for $165 last month. This is an outstanding reel. 8-)

I'm Going To Be A Daddy!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!

multi-use setups
I picked up the rod from one member and a CH50MG from another. I think all parties were satisfied with the deals, I am. 8-)

Rage Tail Poll
There should be a few more comments after next week's Roadtrip, quite a few guys will be giving Rage Tail baits a try. The Lobster has produced some good fish. I think Big O posted a picture of an 11+ a couple of weeks ago. This is one of the baits I will be throwing a lot at Kentucky Lake. The Anaconda was my biggest producer late summer/ early fall. Big O says they can be used for "numbers", but nearly all my bass were 5+. I don't think it's the right choice for tournament fisherman unless you are fishing a lake know for heavy sacks. 8-)

yozuri hybrid ultra soft is visible in water? why
In smaller diameters (#6) I think the green or white are fine. However, if you fish gin clear water, original Hybrid is the ticket. The green matches up almost perfectly with clear water, smoke for stained water. If you are fishing #12 on a baitcaster, the green Ultra Soft is what I recommend, but there is still a visibility issue. This is because the Ultra Soft formula has a higher percentage of nylon vs fluorocarbon. #12 original Hybrid is manageable on a baitcaster, especially when treated with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner. Green for clear water, smoke for stained. 8-)

multi-use setups
This is a more general reply: All your fishing can be done with one rod, but beyond that, there are only three rods that you "need". 1. 7' Heavy Power/ Fast or X Fast Action Baitcaster Jigs, C-rig, T-rig and medium weight swimbaits 2. 6 1/2" Medium Power/ Moderat Action or Fast with a soft tip All medium weight treble hooks, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits 3. 7' Medium Power/ Fast or X Fast Action Spinning Rod All weightless soft plastics Then the fun begins! Later you'll end up buying a rig specifically for every technique, with overlap and duplication. You will never have enough or too many. Oh! and along the way there's always UPGRADE. 8-)

Tackle for River fishing
Okay, but you're going to lose some or at least that's my experience. :

Shimano Stradic or Quantum Catalyst
No experience with the Quantum, but I have owned a few Stradics going back to around 1997. Although I have given mine away to friends, they are are still being fished and are as strong, smooth, silent and reliant as the day they came out of the box. The new Stradic 2500 FI incorporates many of the features that were previously only offered on the Stella. When it was introduced in 2007, the reel was awarded ICAST "Best In Class". http://www.womensoutdoorwire.com/releases/130723 8-)

Oh! Tell me this is an April Fool's joke. :-?

Tackle for River fishing
Soft platics weedless bouncing along the bottom or single tail grubs on a jig head with a steady retrieve. Cast upstream so that the bait moves toward you. Take along a lot of plastic and hooks, you're going to lose them. Good luck! 8-)

Fishing a Jerk Bait
You don't. Once you commit it to the trash heap, leave it there! Better yet, give it to someone you REALLY don't like. >
-
Uglystik
The most favorable comments suggest keeping the Ugly Stik for fishing treble hook or other "moving lures" where sensitivity is less important. For jigs and soft plastics, you'll want something else. 8-)
