  1. Ziplock bag inside a plastic container will take care of the problem. 8-)
  2. Steady retrieve, just like any other lipless crankbait: http://www.rapala.com/products/luresdetail.cfm?modelName=clackin_rap&freshorsalt=Fresh Some don't like fishing lipless cranks because they are a "do nothing" lure. They perform best without any help from the fisherman (steadily retrieved). The "action" is created by the lure itself. 8-)

  4. Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test). I also recommend treating ALL line with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0030185119277a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntk=Products&QueryText=yo-zuri+hybrid+ultra+soft&sort=all&Go.y=8&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&Go.x=17&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1 8-)
  5. The Avid AVS68MXF is a great rod! The only other option I would consider in your price rage is G. Loomis IMX SJR783S or SJR843S. You will have to shop around a bit, the Loomis MSRP is $275. 8-)
  6. hi

    Welcome aboard! 8-)
  7. I'm sure our local friends will have some suggestions for Thursday night. So, we'll probably have smaller groups going to a variety of places. Just ask around and invite some guys to join you. Also, if you get in late or later in the week, we will still have your name tag attached to a bag of goodies. No worries! 8-)
  8. Well, it's borderline geographically and I doubt anyone in Kentucky considers themselves a New England-er, but we had to make some arbitrary decisions when creating the sections. "Central" is not to helpful either with the significant climate disparity between Minnesota and Texas, etc. Of the four sections, "Southeast" includes states with the most commonality. Maybe Kentucky belongs there, south and east of Chicago! So, the real answer is: Our regional selections are somewhat arbitrary. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  9. Muddy's okay, he's just taking a break. I exchanged a few PMs with him recently and I expect him to pop in occasionally. As a matter-of-fact, he posted a very nice comment in the Flea Market this morning. 8-)
  10. Heck no! This is a HUGE career enhancement for Coach Cal. I wish him the very best. The icing on the cake is blue can still be his favorite color! http://www.ukathletics.com/ 8-)
  11. His salary is going through the roof with either school so you can throw that out the window. Apparently FedEx is ponying up to try and keep Cal there. Now its a matter of if he wants to play in a tougher conference, or not worry about income tax. Really? Highest paid basketball coach IN THE WORLD!
  12. Eat sht and die! 8-)
  13. All your fishing can be done with one rod, but beyond that, there are only three rods that you "need". 1. 7' Heavy Power/ Fast or X Fast Action Baitcaster Jigs, C-rig, T-rig and medium weight swimbaits 2. 6 1/2" Medium Power/ Moderat Action or Fast with a soft tip All medium weight treble hooks, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits 3. 7' Medium Power/ Fast or X Fast Action Spinning Rod All weightless soft plastics Then the fun begins! Later you'll end up buying a rig specifically for every technique, with overlap and duplication. You will never have enough or too many. Oh! and along the way there's always UPGRADE. 8-)
  14. Well now, Who here thinks Raul sacrifices performance for style or visa versa? ;D ;D ;D
  15. For me it's usually just one rod and one hard lure, or a couple of soft plastics and a jig. I like to practice using all my rod & reel combinations which dictates what I fish. I rarely use any treble hooks that fish below the surface. This is my tacklebox for bank fishing: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0018716902478a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=safari+vest&Ntk=Products&sort=all&Go.y=9&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&_D%3Asort=+&Nty=1&hasJS=true&Go.x=17&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1 8-)
  16. This thread has moved way offline. If you want another few thousand opinions on reels to buy, scan back through the hundreds of pages in this section or wait until tomorrow and we'll do it again! Goodnight Irene -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator

  19. Wow! I had to delete one of my "Favorites" to make room for this thread. This is what BassResource.com is all about. Thank you!
  20. I repeat, "Send the reel back to Shimano."
  21. I prefer 3/8 oz. I fish Shak-e2 exclusively. 8-)
  22. Rather than using an inserted jig head, T-rig the tube weedless and unpegged. Start with a very light weight and move up if you cannot tick the bottom. Your hang-ups will drop dramatically. The presentation can be dragging the bottom; gentle, occasional lifts or extended lift and drop. Just experiment and see what works. The only technique that I don't like is swimming the tube. That works sometimes in grass, but I have never had any luck with it open water or on my river. 8-)
