  4. Welcome aboard! Here's something to get you started: https://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1186055966 8-)
  5. That's a beauty. 8-)
  6. That's a beautiful fish. Great pic, too! 8-)
  7. You drift with the wind, down a bank or across a point. You still must be on fish which generally means cover or structure. Deadsticking simply implies "not working the lure". 8-)
  8. Well, as you develop a better "feel" you will be able to avoid some hang-ups, but not all. If you are fishing from a boat, a lure retriever will recover 95% or more of your lures. From the bank, you should probably stick with mostly single hook tackle. You are going to lose lures. 8-)
  9. You don't need a thing you don't already have. If I'm wrong, I have it and will give it to you for free. Promise! 8-)
  10. I think you may catch a few smallmouth while fishing for largemouth at Kentucky Lake. Perhaps the locals will have specific suggestions, but for the most part, brown fish will strike the same lures you throw for green fish. 8-)
  11. If you think visibility is an issue, tie on a fluorocarbon leader. I think it's important for jigs and soft plastics, but not for "moving" lures. Some of our best sticks fish braid and leader for everything. 8-)
  12. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! ;D ;D ;D ;D
  13. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  14. My colors: 021, 187, 194, 208, 297 and new for me, 301 Going forward: 021, 187, 194 and 301 only EDIT: My next purchase will be 157, your recommended color. 8-)
  15. You're quicker than me! http://***/cgi-bin/order/157?TPK8ozUQ;;1652 8-)
  16. My rigs: For jigs and big or weighted worms: BCR854 and MBR844C For all weightless soft plastics: St. Croix ES70MF 8-)
  17. I have been experimenting with #15 on two rigs used for heavier baits and lures. Treat the Hybrid with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner and you're good to go. Specifically, I have #15 on my jig rod and another I use for medium weight swimbaits (Mattlures Baby Bass). After a few casts the line performs flawlessly with very little memory or coil. The only drawback is breaking strength- you could pull your boat with this line! 8-)
  18. I fish #12 Yo-Zuri Hybrid and Hybrid Ultra Soft. The original formula blends better with water, in fact, it's virtually invisible. However, for your purposes I agree with flechero, braid is probably a better choice. The vast majority of my fishing is on and around structure in open water, not cover or timber. Try 50/12 braided line, I think that will help. 8-)
  19. The Cavitron buzzbaits create a unique "chirping" sound. I fish both 1/4oz silver blade, white & silver skirt and the 3/8 oz black on black. However, I don't think it makes a difference! I fish a trailer on the 1/4 oz Cavitron just for the additional weight, the 3/8 oz naked. Again, I don't think it makes a difference. I attribute the success of these lures to high quality components and the unique chirp. When the buzzbait gets beat up, just bend it back to something close to the original configuration. "Old" lures work as well or better than new! Regarding the blade: The Cavitron produces a bubble trail unlike any other I have fished. The blade configuration has a lot to do with both sound and wake which is something Bobby has spent years developing. Try one, you will not be disappointed. 8-)
  20. Man...That's beautiful. Good luck next week. 8-)
  21. Quit complanining, you'll get no sympathy from about 99.9999% of this crowd! BTW, Nice fish. Please keep the reports coming, we all want to be Fish Chris when we grow up! 8-)
  22. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  23. If anyone is interested in a heavy duty rain suit, I have one that I bought on the Gulf Coast during a trip I "had to fish". The suit is heavy duty, but not insulated. Although I'm "medium" this two piece suit is L or XL, I had no options. I think it's a La Cross and is 200% waterproof! I paid a lot, full bore retail, but it can be yours for a reasonable price. I'll bring it to the outing and you can try it on if you're interested. I hope we don't need this gear, but just in case... p.s. The rain suit was worn 1 day. 8-)
  24. For those that mentioned making adjustments while fighting a fish: Set your drag, initially with a scale until you have "a feel" for where it's set. Check your drag before every outing and occasionally during the day. Never adjust the drag while fighting a fish...NEVER. 8-)
  25. You're probably going to have to find another place to fish. The pond is way overpopulated and it's unlikely to produce any big bass.
