  1. Welcome aboard! We have quite a few folks on board that fish your water. I fish the Tennessee River below Pickwick Dam, technically Kentucky Lake! 8-)
  2. Man, that's a fine fish! 8-)
  3. The boy has been in college for five years with two more years of medical school to go. I bought his truck new when he turned 16. When he becomes a doctor, he can buy his own! 8-)
  4. Sure, New is more fun! I'm one of those guys that tends to drive 'em till they're dead. BUT...If you take long trips or it's your wife's car, dependability is everything. So, on all equipment, but especially older cars and trucks, top quality maintenance is crucial. That means doing it yourself or by someone you know you can trust. I have generally cashed my older cars/ trucks in around 125-150,000 miles. The engines could probably last twice as long or even more. However, after ten years or so the rest of the car/truck starts falling apart and looks shabby. Then it's definitely time to go. Current status: Toyota Sequoia: 95,000 (mine) Nissan Altima: 93,000 (wife) (next to be replaced) Toyota Rav4: 19,000 (daughter for college) Nissan Frontier: 165,000 (son) (next one he has to buy, so it might make 200,000) 8-)
  5. I'm just playin' with you. EVERYONE seems to like their new Revos. How 'bout this CH51MG: http://fish.shimano.com/catalog/fish/products/group_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302036639&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181270&bmUID=1203536035058 8-)
  6. No, not yet. I received one when KaRu Lures joined the Forum. I odered five more last week, which I have already received! The vibration is awesome, these lures move a lot of water. I fished the VibraSpin on two seperate days without a strike, but the conditions aren't ideal right now. I plan to give them a workout at Guntersville next month and post a detailed report. My expectations are high. 8-)
  7. If you guys swap out the gears, change the spool, replace the handle and paint the frame, maybe you can find a Shimano decal to complete the package! :
  8. How 'bout a compromise? You could move South to New Jersey! From what I gather, there are still some Italian families workin' Jersey. :
  9. Okay, if price isn't an issue the new Core or the CH50MG would be the reels I would focus on. http://fish.shimano.com/catalog/fish/products/group_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302053093&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181270&bmUID=1203532868539 http://fish.shimano.com/catalog/fish/products/group_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302036639&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181270&bmUID=1203532868539 8-)
  10. Man, why don't you just pick it up and take it somewhere else?
  11. Hmm... I would be leery. I suspect it's "worth" about what you pay. "On Sale" when something has never been "for sale" isn't much of "a sale". BPS markets most of their in-house rods the same way. I never consider them on sale, just overpriced when they are not! :-/
  12. Yeah, I'd say so! Nice fish. ;D 8-)
  13. We have a "sticky" that should help in the top portion of this section: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1120348381 8-)
  14. Well, my friend, I know you are just thinking about this now, but there are people in all parts of the country that need the help you are trained to offer. Location is about life style, not "the job" in your field.
  15. Well, you could LIVE in the warmth of the South and still VISIT Brooklyn. 8-)
  16. We have plenty of room for everyone next month at Guntersville. Man up! 8-)
  17. I don't care what you call me, just don't call me "Late For Dinner!" :
  18. Well, we have a group of Mooks that really like their Pfluegers, another that favor Diawa, others who lean towards Abu Garcias and even a few that like various house names! My "favorite" is Shimano. You might want to look at the Curado which is on sale and fits within your pricing parameters: http://www.deloscustomtackleshack.com/reels/shimanocurado.html 8-)
  19. Nice report, GREAT fish! Some of us haven't been doing as well lately... 8-)
  20. I am smallmouth fishing Saturday on the Tennessee River and will watch the game with my buddy and his family at their cabin Saturday night. The beer is a lot cheaper there! 8-)

  22. Lucky Craft uses VMC hooks. Rapala X-Raps also use this brand. Maybe Owners and Gamakatsu are just as good or better, but the VMC is an excellent hook. For single hooks I use Gammies and XPoint hooks. 8-)
  23. Both of these reels have been completely redesigned, with many features previously only available in a Stella. I haven't fished the new Sustain, but I have the older model. I never felt this model was an upgrade compared to the Stradic 2500FH. This may not be the case when comparing the two new offerings, but in my view the Sustain has never developed a niche in the Shimano line-up. There simply haven't (in the past) been enough differences in the models to make sense. Anyhow, based on my prior experience, I would go with the Stradic FI. 8-)
  24. Please take a minute to read through FAQ's. There are several topics that have been beat to death and this is one of them: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?virboard=gen_bass;num=1133376419
