Green pumpkin vs watermelon
Read an article years ago about this. It said to use green pumpkin on cloudy days and use watermelon seed on days with sunshine. This is with decent visibility in the water. Green pumpkin would be better in waters with more stain in it.

Under spin pricing...
Go back and read it again. I said underspin. I didn't specify a brand.

Getting ready for spring!
For the first time ever I cleaned the cork handles on my rods and put U40 Cork Sealer on them. The reels have been cleaned and lubed. I will put new line on when it gets a little closer for time to go fishing. I still have some tackle to sort out and organize.

Under spin pricing...
I have been using the Sworming Hornets with either a Super Fluke or Swimming Fluke and have caught plenty of fish on them. I bought some Owner Flashy Swimmers to try. They are hooked weedless and can be used around heavier cover. Several years ago the Bassmaster Classic was won with an underspin. I think it was Casey Ashley but I could be wrong.

Winter 2020-2021
With all the snow, sleet, and freezing rain we have around 6" on the ground. Predicting a low of about 7 degrees tonight. Tomorrow night we get hit with a third winter storm in a week. I have been lucky since so far the power has stayed on and I haven't had to use the generator so far.

Every day carry knife...
I hope you are okay. I didn't mean to make you lose sleep over this. I did take the 307 out and sharpen it today. The main blade is super sharp. The two smaller ones are sharp but worn down from being sharpened a lot over the years. The 301 hasn't been used a lot and is still in good shape. Since I am retired I don't use a knife near as much as when I was working.

Favorite Spinnerbait Brand / Series ?
I like the Stanley spinnerbaits and the War Eagle Screaming Eagle. Spot Remover has been my the best color for me. All of mine are older inventory of War Eagle. I haven't bought any since Pradco bought them out so I don't know what has been changed with them.

Every day carry knife...
I have a model 301X and a 307 in Buck knives. They both have made in U.S.A. on the them. They are both at least 30 years old.

Chains on icy boat ramp
I have never been desperate enough to try to fish in those conditions. Too many things can go wrong to quickly.

Every day carry knife...
For an everyday knife I carry a three blade Case folding stockman pocket knife with bone handles. I used to carry Buck stockman knives but it seemed like they got to where they didn't hold an edge as good as they older ones did.

Beginner Spinnerbait and Chatterbait Questions
The last two bass I caught last year was on a 6' medium action rod rated for 1/4 to 5/8 ounce lures. I was throwing a 1/2 ounce War Eagle Screaming Eagle spinnerbait without a trailer. I was using 12# mono. Guess I'm doing it all wrong. I have never bought a gram scale to try to get an exact weight on everything I use.

What is your favorite?
I use a Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craw or a Zoom Twin tail Grub most of the time.
-
Favorite soft plastic grub?
I like the Zoom Fat Alberts in green pumpkin, watermelon seed, chartreuse pepper, and rootbeer pepper green. I use the Zoom twin tail grubs for a jig trailer. I bought some Kalins grubs in bluegill color but haven't had a chance to use them yet.

Bass Pro Spring Sale
I asked about this at our Cabelas today. The fellow I talked to said he thought it was supposed to start March 11. He said there was supposed to be two different sales. If it is like years past there won't be anything on sale I want

Winter 2020-2021
They are predicting a winter storm here Tuesday night in to Thursday with rain, snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Possible .5 of ice accumulation and expecting power outages. Look like I will be getting the generator out to power the house for a while. Then we get another winter storm next weekend.
