I use a 6'6" MH/F for Senkos, light weight jigs, and other Texas rigs. I use a medium fast for small Texas rigs like centipedes, shaky heads, and split shot rigs.

I f those are the only ones you would consider then go with the 6.8:1. I would get a Lews BB1 in 5.1:1 ratio or about 21" IPT.

Since I am a casual fisherman and lucky if I get to go once a week I can't justify spending that much on baits. The most expensive baits I have are Lucky Craft. I don't get to use them very often and have more than I need.

I try to stay with what has worked in the past. I am very slow to try new things. I will never buy any Megabass products due to the cost of them. I won't be buying or using any A-rigs. That takes a specialized setup. I have bought some 6th Sense and Spro crankbaits in the last couple of years and caught some fish with them. There are so many choices out there it is hard to pick a starting point in trying new baits.

I agree with @Teal about the Screaming Eagle spinnerbait especially in clear water. My best colors are Spot Remover and Mouse.

A shaky head jig has keepers which keep the bait in place a lot better and you can rig them weedless. With a standard jig head you would probably have an exposed hook which would get you hung up a lot more.

I have thought about using a drop shot with a shaky head but never have tried it. I wonder how well that would work.

I don't fish tournaments. On my days fishing I have a sandwich, a pack of nabs, water, ice tea, and gatorade. I like to take my time and have lunch and think about what is working and what is not. I will take the time to change baits and maybe get out some other rods and reels and put some away before I go back to fishing.

I have been using Zoom Swimmin Super Flukes on underspins.

I always use the lightest weight I can get by with. For me it is about the rate of fall. I feel like I have better luck with a slower fall rate. I use a lot of lead but I do have some tungsten sinkers. I agree with @5/0. Anything over 1/4 ounce I would go with tungsten. I always peg my sinkers.

Used Dove for a long time. Then had to switch to Dial Gold. I was required to use it for a while before I had my knee replacement surgeries because of the antibacterial properties it has. I still use Dial but also have some Dove here too.

I still use a lot of mono. I won't buy a dedicated rod for every technique. I make mine multi task. I may use a topwater on a rod for a while and then later use a spinnerbait on it. Mono works either way while floro is a bad choice for topwaters. I still use floro for soft plastics and jigs.

Just for clarify Tackle Direct is not part of Tackle Warehouse. Tackle Direct is also geared more for salt water fishing.

I use a medium spinning rod for shakyheads and finesse type soft plastics. I use a MH spinning rod for senkos, Texas rigged Trick Worms, and jigs. If it is a crankbait, spinnerbait, topwater, or bigger Texas rigged soft plastics it gets thrown on a baitcaster. I don't even own a ML spinning rod. All of my rods are either 6' or 6'6". I don't have any use for any longer rods.
