  1. If money wasn't a factor, I'd buy that rod, then buy my own personal lake to fish in.
  2. I've learned that anxiety disorder is pretty common, especially in younger men. In my nephews case, he couldn't keep a job for much more than two weeks. His doctor told us that many things which most of us would consider easy, were a huge struggle for him. Just getting up and getting ready for work, caused him much anxiety. The correct meds, and, a lot of positive encouragement from his family helped this. Now, he excels at things that were almost impossible for him to do before. I think he'll continue to do well from here. Even the doctors can't explain exactly why this happens to people., but it can really shut people down.
  3. A-Jay, still working to stay lean myself sir. Things are going well, and, I've added a pull up bar to my workout plan. Every little bit seems to help, and dropping the weight is the best thing I've done in years.
  4. I posted about my nephew Kyle. He suffered with anxiety for quite a while. Once he was diagnosed, and given the right meds, he was able to improve his life tremendously.
  5. A-Jay, glad to hear this for sure.Hoping for the best for you guys, and continuing to send positive thoughts your way. Best luck moving forward to both of you.
  6. I have heard crappie fisherman talk about " shooting" docks. I haven't heard this term used in bass fishing.
  7. Yes I still have one. Mine is crawdad color. Arbogast made a good lure similar to yours called a Mud Bug. I haven't thrown either in years due to weeds...
  8. Since I'm a plastic worm fisherman, my favourite part is the tap- tap when I get a strike. But, I really love everything about bass fishing. I've been obsessed for years...
  9. Like the other guys have said, move up up to z heavier rod, anc practice. Keep at it. It can be tough to hook frogs consistently.
  10. A-Jay, I've been sending good, positive thoughts your way, and will continue to do so.
  11. Have a great time. Wisconsin is a cool place to visit.
  12. I agree. Buzzbaits have worked this summer as well as they always have. They're a must have for me.
  13. I think my water is too clear for them to work well.
  14. Man, I can't catch a bass on a chatterbait. I've tried em, and they just don't work for me. Fill in the blank with a bait that just doesn't work for you.
  15. Ol Crickety, that's a good looking dog. I hope you have many good years of companionship with this one.
  16. Always a plastic worm is #1 for me. Too many good ones to list here, and they can all work. Plastic worms still rule.
  17. This is old I'm sure, and probably thousands of folks know this trick, but I thought I'd pass it along. Most folks prefer a floating plastic worm with a shakey head. Take a straight plastic worm. A Zoom Trick Worm is a good example. Clip about 1/8" off the tail. Take a round toothpick and thread it into the tail of the worm. Thread around 1" or so into the worm. Cut off any excess toothpick flush with the tail. Toothpicks will float, and will cause the tail of your plastic worm to float up off the bottom. You could do this with a shakey head, open hook jig worm style, or probably a t rig worm. Basically, doing this, you've created a floating, or semi floating plastic worm. Almost any straight tail plastic worm can work. This can make your bait more visible, and hopefully, draw more strikes from the bass.
  18. Happy birthday Tom!
  19. Most bass lures are versatile. Try a new or different retrieve. An example, try swimming a plastic worm instead of hopping it. Your using a confidence bait, but in a new way. It can work.
  20. Take care Spankey. Follow your docs orders. Hope your back to fishing soon. Drink a lot of water, and rest.
  21. Catt, I have an old one like this except mine has a guy hook.
  22. Mine is a Case medium stockman. Three blades. I've had it for at least 25 years. I also have a Leatherman tool I carry for fishing.
  23. A Beetlespin is my favourite small light spinnerbait.
  24. I bought two 1000 size Shimano Sienna spinning reels seven years ago. I originally bought them for a trout trip to the MO Ozarks. After extensive use, they still work perfectly. I've caught many stocked trout, crappie, bream, and bass with these reels. For a dedicated bass reel, I'd choose the 2500 size Sienna. If there's any drawback to these reels, I'd say the thinner bail wire is one. Otherwise, they've been very reliable with basic maintenance. If your on a tight budget for fishing gear, the Sienna may be a good option for you. Just an opinion, but I think they're one of the best spin reels for the dollar. At 29.95 each, it's hard to go wrong.
  25. If it's raining hard, I don't go. But, I've been out and it starts raining lightly and the fish turn on. Usually a good time for moving baits. Spinnerbaits, Traps etc.
