Color for polarized sunglasses?
I guess I'm lucky. My wife and I both have a card that pays 500.00 for hearing, dental, or optical. My glasses were right at 500.00. I paid out of pocket for the tax. All the good glasses are expensive. These Ray Bans look like 1960. I've always wanted a pair. Now, I'm 65 and finally have some.
-
how much slack line do you have dangling from rod end at cast?
Somewhere around 6" to 8".

Color for polarized sunglasses?
My new glasses are Ray Bans with amber tint. They're not actual fishing sunglasses, but darken in sunlight. Transition lenses don't get as dark as some sunglasses, but I pull my cap down a little and they work. The best thing is I can see well to tie knots etc. They're very well made and good quality.

Color for polarized sunglasses?
I'm wearing polarized transition lenses now. My medicare paid for most of the cost. Clip ons didn't work well for me.

Ned Rigs Anonymous
Yes. 1/16 or 1/8 mostly Roboworm or Zoom finesse worm. A Brewer Slider head can be good also.

Ned Rigs Anonymous
When the Ned rig first came out I bought some and tried them. I had one good early spring morning when I caught 11 fish on one bank. Then the annual.weeds came in, and the Ned wasn't working good in the weeds. I went back to my small finesse plastic worms. I can fish them in and around most all cover.

How long do you leave the plastic on your cork?
I take mine off right away. Before my first trip with the rod.

Happy Birthday! Enjoy your day.

Hydrilla
I'll agree with Catt on this. It's what's below the hydrilla that counts.

Line Roller Check
One of my spinning reels started making a strange noise on my last trip. A slight grinding noise when retrieving line, with a lure tied on. Im sure many probably know this already, but, you can check the roller by using a rubber band. Cut a section of rubber band and hook it under the line roller. Rub it back and forth several times. This will often free up a sticking line roller. Then, you can open it up and oil it. If you don't hear any noise while using the rubber band, your line roller is probably not causing any problem, and can be used as is. I was prepared to order a new line roller, but thanks to a Shimano reel tutorial, I don't need one. Once I gave the roller a drop of oil, all the noise stopped. This reel is a Lew's Speed Spin, but this rubber band trick will work on any spinning reel. If your spinning reel starts making any noise at the line roller, this is a quick way to test it, and ensure it's working correctly without taking it apart. Besides unwanted noise, a sticking line roller can cause line twist problems as well, cutting into your fishing time. We can thank the guys from Shimano. They make some good reel tutorial videos.

Bass fishing is getting harder?
I'm lucky that I mostly fish a small 7acre lake from my canoe. There's not much angling pressure from other anglers here.

Man's best friend. You'll do anything for 'em.
Iron, I'm a dog lover also. Thank you for being kind to him, and taking good care of him. He's a cool dog.

Plastics at night
Larger plastic worms are old favourites for night fishing.

Buying tackle that turned out to be a failure for you…
Black musky Jitterbug is my ultimate dud also. It probably scared the fish away.

To U40 or Not To U40...that is the question
Ive never used U40 but have not heard any negatives. For a long time I've cleaned cork handles with Dawn dish soap. It's worked fine.

Tennis Elbow Surgery. . . PRP Injections . . .
I can't help with a surgeon, but, I'll wish you the best of luck with this. Hoe you can find the right surgeon and get back to fishing.

Trophy Hunting
When I was targeting trophy bass last summer, I made a couple of post on the subject. I remember A-Jay saying that along with the correct baits, good lines, etc, you need to be mentally prepared. Remind yourself that you might have a long day or several long days when the big fish just don't cooperate. It happens to the best fisherman. They're the ones who are willing to put in the time it takes to catch the huge bass. As I said above, I think it can be a lonely, solitary pursuit. It takes much patience and dedication to the sport to succeed.

No Tolerance
Working on an old house for my daughter the other day, I saw a dog at a house close by that was tied to a tree with a short five ft chain. The day was very warm, and the old dog had no water, food, and very little shade. He was just laying there, and couldnt move much. He was obviously exhausted. His owners were not home. I filled up a pan of water for him, which he quickly drank dry. Then, I looked up the number for the local animal control, and called them. I gave him a pan of fresh water before I left. Being a dog lover, these things aggravate me. I don't like folks who mistreat dogs, in any way. So please. If you own a dog, do your best to properly care for them. I hope the animal control folks did something good for this old boy. He deserved better.

Landing dock fish
A couple of well known fisherman, Charlie Brewer from TN, and Guido Hibdon from Missouri talked and wrote about " leading " a bass from under docks and other cover. Get a solid hookset and keep steady pressure on the fish. Many times, they were able to get the fish to swim out away from the dock, where they could be landed more easily. I've had mixed results with this. Some fish are determined to stay under the docks. Some will swim out easier.

Whose shoes...?
I could never pick just one. Too many good sticks among this group. So I'll say A-Jay, Catt, WRB, and Team9nine. All for the obvious reasons.Ill add Dwight Hottle and T-Billy as alternates. Those are some big shoes to fill.

Trophy Hunting
Expect this to be hard. Catching big fish consistently is not real easy. Last year I fished for big bass most all summer, and never got the 8lb fish I was after. This year I may do this again, but I'm not going to get consumed with hunting trophy bass. It's a lonely pursuit, and is not easy. Good luck in your trophy hunting.

Short rods - when do you use them?
Last summer I ordered a Charlie Brewer 50th Anniversary glass rod. It only 4'9 in length. It's perfect for close in casting small baits. Like others have said, I grew up fishing with rods no longer than 6 ft. They still can have a place from my canoe.
