  1. My Bass X reel was ordered through Amazon.US but fulfilled by Amazon.JP - with free shipping cause of Prime...I may have to get a 'legit' account at JP eventually
  2. Bad luck - I've never experienced this even in MY other hobby which is scale modeling...Airbrushes, tools, paints, etc...everything has been exactly as posted/advertised.
  3. I've bought quite a few things off Amazon - several reels and a few rods that drop-shipped from the seller...and quite a bit of tackle as well as a number of things for Bass Trek. I've no problems with Amazon.
  4. Yep - like @Eric 26 said - it's the CA-80 with a different color scheme...I have both and have compared them. Probably one of if not the least expensive aluminum frame reel out there. The Bass X is the CA-80 with a different color scheme - it IS aluminum frame...I have one.
  5. Even less expensive is Daiwa Bass X (JDM) which you can get for $70 - https://www.digitaka.com/item/4/4/2/4960652263153
  6. I would help to know the brand and model of the reel - getting a schematic would be my first move.
  7. 9 times out of 10 - casting a lure off is caused by knot failure...not line failure.
  8. The rod power is more about what lures you can cast with it rather than the fish you'll be catching on it. BTW: Despite having St Croix Mojo and Victorys, and Dobyns Furys...I still have two Aird-X in my lineup...great rod for the price and perfect for what I use them for.
  9. Another local guy! Ya - pics of the Gatorbak would be nice....I'm still looking at Ultimates, but a less expensive option would be kewl.
  10. Well...turkeys could be a direct descendant of old Veloci...
  11. Depends on when you go - I don't think I've ever been crowded at any of the piers I've fished on Tonka...sometimes I'm alone. Far as bank vs boat - depends on the day/time/whatever. Boat caught Shore caught
  12. The line ratings are for mono/FC - pretty much ignore them for braid. My flip/pitch rod is rated for 12#-25# line....I run 50# braid on it with no issues.
  13. IPT is what I look at - and as Tom said, that's gonna change depending on how much line is on the spool at any given moment...I just use it as a reference number. Also noted is spinning vs casting...two reels I own Casting: Pflueger Patriarch - 7.1:1 ratio - 29IPT Spinning: Shimano Miravel 2500 - 5.0:1 ratio - 29IPT
  14. I'll probably get on the water next week....but maybe some shore fishing Friday...been a bit hectic here and Bass Trek still needs a couple things before I put her on the water.
  15. That takes skill, man...when you get one big enough for a Roc, take a pic.
  16. Googan is one I stay far away from Pflueger is starting to get on my bad list - and I was a fan-boy for decades Daiwa, Shimano and St. Croix are at the top of my 'YES' list Like @Skunkmaster-k - Zoom would really have to screw up to make me avoid them. Pure Fishing in general - not too shabby, but Berkley and Plano are the only brands I buy things from.
  17. Depends on whether it's wet snow or dry snow...12" is 'average', but the heavy-wet stuff we got the other day is more like 7"-8" of snow per 1" of water.
  18. Oh I'm dead now - I'm an eye short...really screws with depth perception.
  19. Thanks for the warning, Mike - I haven't dove too deep into my Miravels or Ultegra yet...do I need a Haz-Mat suit?
  20. Another one from one of my core groups - only album Manuela Kraller sang on - such a shame as she has an incredible voice
  21. I've tried a few different brands of these, including the Runcl...I keep going back to Owner.
  22. I had a couple college classmates in the late 70s that were Nam-Vets...always treated them with respect...it was an ugly situation over there.
  23. It's a methodical process - taking pics or video as you dis-assemble for cleaning is one of the best hints given. I doubt there's vids on every single reel since some people keep and use reels a long time (decades even) and the sheer number of reel models is overwhelming. Even those of us who do our own reels occasionally make an 'oopsie'...like me installing the A/R Ratchet backwards in one reel this past cleaning cycle...easy to fix, but took me a bit to figure it out. Mike at DVT is probably your best bet for helping get them back together properly.
