  1. Long as you spool it up nice and tight - the 30# 832 shouldn't give you an issue.
  2. I haven't handled a Sellus - so really can't tell you. What I do know is that my MH/F Aird-X casting rod is sensitive enough that I can feel the vibration of the blades when tossing chatterbaits and larger spinnerbaits...it's currently my moving-bait rod where-as I have a Fury for bottom contact (T-Rigs, Jigs, etc) In the $100 market - check out the St Croix Bass-X or the Daiwa Tatula XT as well.
  3. If you don't go for the Maverick - skip the Colt and get a Daiwa Aird-X. I handled the Colt and the Aird-X - and much preferred the Aird...still have two Aird-X rods in my lineup...when I have the spare cash, they're being upgraded to at least Furys.
  4. Since I have a partially disabled wife who needs my help every day of the week - I always have some sort of honey-do...so I lose track of what day it is fairly frequently.
  5. Maybe one of these days the weather will cool down to let me out on the lake. Having suffered heat exhaustion and heat stroke in the past, I do NOT do well in high temps...this is getting ridiculous. Don't talk to me about early mornings/late evenings...wife is home from the hospital and those are the times she needs me here for assistance.
  6. Ya, my finesse rig is loaded with 10# 832 and I use 6# InvizX for the leader...seems to work just fine for Neds, DS, etc.
  7. Nothing - it's the name of the company. YGK Co., Ltd. https://xbraidygk-jp.translate.goog/company/?_x_tr_sl=ja&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc
  8. Before I upped to a Dobyns Fury, I used a M/F Aird-X spinning rod for a number of things. Wacky Neko Weightless plastics (flukes, worms, etc) Shakey Lipless cranks Squarebills
  9. Ya - that combo is gonna make a larger knot and cause issues. I'd learn one of the slimmer knots...should take care of the issue. I'm running 6'-8' leaders - so the longer ones actually end up inside the reel just before a cast.
  10. Are you using heavier line...30#+ braid with 12#+ FC? Double-Uni gets bulky with heavier lines - need to go with a slimmer knot for the leader. FG, Albright, Alberto are strong/slim knots. I tie on 15# AbrazX to 50# 832 on my Heavy rig when I use a leader - FG is my leader knot of choice - and I don't have the 'catching' issue on the guides or even the reel aperture....and it's a Fuego-CT reel.
  11. Ran an errand yesterday - it was $4.49 at my local stations. I looked it over - to save $0.10 a gallon I'd have to trip 12 miles each way...but then I don't get my fuel rewards discount which as I stated above I usually get $0.40 a gallon off the first 20...so Gas Buddy doesn't help me
  12. I can edit pictures on my Galaxy - resizing them appropriately without having to use part of my limited data quota for the e-mail...can even just save a copy so I have the original size still available.
  13. Basically it boils down to one thing. This is a private forum, owned by Glenn - and despite monetary input from sponsors he still has to dig into his own pocket to pay for things like storage capacity and bandwidth. He's not a big company like FB, Twitter, Instagram, etc - he's one man, running probably the best fishing forum on the Net...some lines have to be drawn. I think he's more questioning why there's a size limit - not how to get the pic under that limit.
  14. I don't paint lures - but I do scale models. One guy does testing on all sorts of things for scale modeling - he really likes the Patriot BTW - and here's his test on craft-store paints...and how to get the best use of them. I've got an old Badger 200 siphon and a newer Paasche Talon gravity-feed that I use.
  15. 7, 18, 44, 3, 13 All my guys are still in it tomorrow - first time I've had all 5 go to semi-final Saturday.
  16. Still a youngin' Wait till you get to be ancient like @A-Jay and I. (he and I are only 3 months apart)
  17. Ya - I do so little driving really, I usually have at least 40 cents per saved up by the time I need gas...last fill it was a 50 cent per gallon discount...currently have 20 cents on the card and my tank is still 3/4 full.
  18. I wouldn't call myself a fan - but when I do imbibe a gin, it's usually St. George Terroir 2:1 Squeeze it in - I don't wanna have to chew anything while drinking. For me it's Vodka - won't touch the stuff.
  19. 10, 24, 14, 9, 4 Probably my best 1st round ever.
  20. Ya, between the machines to plant, tend and harvest it to the fertilizer - then the extraction/distillation process....it takes more energy to make ethanol than you get out of it. BUT it does burn cleaner - so the tree-huggers are all for it. I'm environmentally conscious - but there has to be a happy medium....
  21. MH/F casting (the 'B' stands for 'baitcasting') is pretty much the Swiss Army Knife of rods. Bottom contact (jigs, T-Rigs, C-Rigs) Moving baits (spinners, chatters, buzz) Flip/Pitch into moderate or less weedgrowth Weighted Soft swimbaits Smaller Hard swimbaits - Bucca Gill and Bucca Shad come to mind immediately There's probably others I've forgotten While my arsenal has mostly one of each power/action in my rods...I DO have two MH/F casting rigs cause they're that versatile. I have a MH/F spinning rig as well - mainly because I can't skip lures with a casting rig to save my life - so a 3000 reel on this and I can skip jigs, spinners, chatters, etc under docks/overhangs to my heart's content.
  22. I dunno about his area - but around here, quite a few of the smaller lakes and ponds don't have a way to launch from a trailer...it's all walk-in. Carry or cart only.
  23. (grumble) RL interferes again...something's come up and I won't be there tonight. (sobs)
  24. What I had for my canoe was an Ironton PWC trailer that I modded by replacing the 5' front 'boom' with a 10' length of steel tube - transfer punches to make sure the holes were positioned correctly and a coat of Rustoleum white to finish it.
  25. Welcome back....nice to see old members return. Bottom of the page is a clue "Copyright ©1997-2022" So 25 years....
