  1. No idea - vertical racks sit the rods up too high for my use. I have short ceilings in my house (8' upstairs, 6'9" in the basement) so I can't use a vertical rack. I have a horizontal rack I built on one wall in the 'fishing room' in the basement. I just did a Google search and found this...
  2. Holds 24 and has a Lazy Susan in the base so it turns. https://rushcreekcreations.com/product/24-fishing-rod-spinning-round-storage-rack/
  3. Of course we need a 'dip' at some point in March, otherwise it wouldn't be Minnesota. Most of the week, the highs are going to be upper 20s to upper 30s - but there's always that one day....
  4. Jerkbait Lipless crankbait Chatterbait
  5. The only thing you'd have to go into a store for is the rod/reel trade in program. Everything else will be marked down (if it's truly marked down) online as well.
  6. ALF, FishUSA and Scheels have all given me fast service.
  7. I only have two questions about the Maverick reels 1: Is it metal frame or carbon frame? 2: What's the IPT of the various gear-ratios? Can't find the answers to those two anywhere I look.
  8. I'm thinking that he's gonna want to be in dad's lap during most of the 'mud' season.
  9. Right...my mistake...
  10. Except the Sahara's don't have a bearing under the line roller - it's a bushing.
  11. For bass fishing - I have 6 casting, 4 spinning for the boat; 1 casting, 2 spinning for bank fishing, I also have 3 dedicated crappie spinning rigs and two of the boat-spinning rigs can be used there too - so 5 spinning for crappie fishing. 16 rigs in total.
  12. If I was into St. Croix - both the Scheels and Fleet Farm near me are good choices. There's a dearth of Dobyns dealers close to me though.
  13. They don't sell direct - but you can get them from certain dealers Jann's Netcraft has a selection. https://www.jannsnetcraft.com/rod-blanks-rainshadow/ HFF Custom Rods also has a selection https://www.hffcustomrods.com/product-category/components/blanks/ On Rainshadow's site - go to the 'Find a Dealer' tab, click on the states colored in and you'll get the list of dealers in those states that sell Rainshadow blanks. https://www.rainshadowrodblanks.com/find-dealer/
  14. Rainshadow is the name of blanks you can purchase from https://www.rainshadowrodblanks.com/ and build your rod with personally selected parts. It's not a pre-built rod like a Dobyns or St. Croix.
  15. If the Tatula you got is the Tatula CT - don't feel so bad. Other than the T-Wing system replacing the standard aperture, and bearings in the handle knobs - the Tat CT and the Fuego CT are the same reel. Frame, main gears, spool...all identical.
  16. Which is really hard on the 18-20 year olds who buy a Ruger 10-22 or other small-bore rifle for rabbit/squirrel hunting...but have to get a parent to buy the ammo for them...since .22 ammo can be used in handguns. Course, you can run .410 shot shells through a .44 magnum too - but 18 year olds can buy .410 shot shells no problem. Crazy rules.
  17. Big difference. Like @Mat_ski said - returning rods is pretty easy, though I've been happy with my purchases and not had to. Same with Amazon - I've returned a few things...mostly because I decided that I really didn't want it, or it was something I though would work like I wanted but didn't. VERY easy to return things with them. Cars - I've always done a test drive...even if it was a used, cheap 'beater' car that I knew I wouldn't own more than a year or two.
  18. (hangs his head) Of the 16 rods I've purchased in the last 4 years - only two did I buy in person...rest were online I know my size and what brands fit my size...my new steel-toed work boots I got 3 months ago? Ya, got them from Amazon. Fit great.
  19. "Wrong place...wrong time..." Riiiight.
  20. Yep-yep For my rigs Cranks - MH/M-MF Spinners/chatters - MH/F
  21. See - the DNR is a state agency, they get money from income/sales/property taxes. In MN, they also get a share of the proceeds the state receives from the inter-state lottery commission (by an Amendment to the State Constitution) - so they're already getting 'my' money...and now they want all these fees in addition. A golf course is different - it's a private establishment that gets no (or very little) money from the state coffers...so yes, the fees involved are reasonable given that.
  22. I personally think he's a genius - I mean we get dinged for everything from boat/trailer registration fees, fishing license, special added species specific fees, and in some states launch fees. He's just getting his 'due' back.
  23. My issue is a little different. Logged in - browsing topics - click on one to look at - and in the topic it shows me as not logged in. Go back to the topic list - shows me as logged in - click on topic...nope still shows me as not logged in. Tried all of @Glenn's suggestions...still the same. I think it's a bug in the latest version of the forum software.
  24. It's an old Zona Live episode from 2017, but I just got a chance to watch it as Kevin posted it on his YouTube channel. They're fishing one of the many Lake Menderchucks in MI, Kevin reels in a Michigan hog...and this is what Zona does. Yep - one big old smack-a-roo...I had to laugh.
  25. I'm with John - any lure I tie on to whichever rig it 'belongs' is gonna produce for me. I can't think anything else, otherwise why even use it?
