  1. I have a Mitchell Avocet RZT-1000 mounted on a 7' Diawa Procyon L/F Techniques I use it for Ned rigs - 1/10oz or less 3/32oz or 1/16oz Owner Ultrahead Shaky with Zoom Finesse Worms 3/32 oz Gammy Offset Finesse Jig with Zoom Finesse worm
  2. My wife doesn't wear nylons - so I can't 'salvage' them from her.
  3. I use disposable dry wipes that I get from Amazon - but the same principle. https://www.amazon.com/Disposable-Dry-Wipes-Pack-Non-Moistened/dp/B07Q84LGJB I also use them when cleaning reels, rods, etc...just change what I dampen them with.
  4. Also something with more 'thump' than 'flash' - spinners with Colorado blades instead of Willow blades, a chatter with a more active blade, 'loud' crankbaits like a One-Knocker, etc
  5. I know it definitely helps when I have YZH on a spinning rig - I can tell the difference. Also seems to help with stiffer FC's - I've got AbrazX on one BC rig.
  6. Didn't know you were that old, Kent.
  7. I use KVD on everything but braid. In my experience, it 'relaxes' the line leading to less memory. A good 'soak' as I spool up the line, then a few spritzes the night before I go out.
  8. Pfft - ignore what others say. If you can use it - then use it.
  9. You got it in a box or direct-connect. I'm getting no interference on my Striker 7CV - but I'm connected to the battery through one of the Aux ports on a MinnKota Power Center.
  10. I'm enjoying my Fury 704C for bottom contact and swim jigs, take it how you will.
  11. If you read closer, my friend, he's trying to NOT purchase a new rod...but use what he already owns. I still stand by the Expride XH
  12. The Shimano - it's the only one rated for the weight of the S-Waver...the other two come up short, and I'd never want to cast a lure heavier than the rod's rating unless I was very, very careful.
  13. Dunno where that came from. The more in-line the guides are to where the line leaves the reel, the less resistance and more distance you'll get. BC guides are close because the line comes out that small aperture, spinning guides are further from the blank and larger near the reel because of how the line comes off.
  14. Or take up SCUBA. We're in a 'Moderate Drought' here in Minneapolis area - not far from us, they're in 'Severe Drought' and in @throttleplate's area, they're in 'Extreme Drought'. https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/
  15. Ice-out to ice-in - jerks work all season here, but as @Deephavensays - you gotta change your retrieve style.
  16. The stream in Nick's Woods that I'd pull brookies out of back when I was 8-11 years old...doubt it's still that good considering where it is.
  17. Frydog disproved that with his experiment a few years ago... Seaguar's new BasiX coming out next year is going to help that - $10/spool is a decent price...now if it's even close to InvizX (my favorite FC currently), it'll be a huge step forward.
  18. Heck - I was still calling it that in High School. course I am an old-fart
  19. You could be right on that. Nylon has more 'rebound' ability than flouro, and since my favorite co-poly (YZH) is flouro strands embedded in a nylon base - that could be why they don't suffer as much. The line stretches, but if it's not to an extreme, it rebounds back. Flouro (IIRC) starts stretching at a high force level, but it doesn't rebound...it stays stretched. And remembering @FryDog62's tests - flouro stretches more than nylon....it just starts later is all, which is where the 'FC doesn't stretch' myth came about.
  20. Might be a price-point thing - my Diawa Fuegos didn't enclose oil...maybe the Tatulas and up do...
  21. None of mine did - 2 Fuegos, 3 Pflueger BCs (4th was used so doesn't count), 4 Pflueger spinners and 4 Mitchell spinners - not one had oil in the box.
  22. I would think the necking could occur with any 'monofilament' (nylon, flouro, co-poly)...pulling the knot tight will put a strain on that last couple inches, depending on how close you hold the mainline to the knot when doing so. I try to hold it very close when doing the last cinch down, so my necking is probably occurring in that first couple inches. Food for thought.
  23. Are you sure the e-mail went to an English speaking country? Or perhaps their people need a course in reading comprehension. How can you mistake Amps for Volts?
  24. I trim 2"-3" off with a lure change and it hasn't seem to harmed me...6" seems a bit much to me, but different strokes (shrugs). I've used it with all line types - even YZH. No strength tests, but it hasn't failed...only lure I've lost was when a pike bit off a lipless last year...otherwise it's held fine.
  25. That's why I mainly cast port/starboard...casting over the bow would be a pain since I'm in the back. If I do want to cast more forward, I side-arm.
