  1. Livewell pumps are electric - don't depend on the main motor. Things to check 1) The switch 2) The wiring between switch and pump 3) The pump
  2. That much is certain - my Pres-25 is loaded with 70yds of 10# Sufix 832 backed by 40yds of 6# Sufix Elite...plenty of line. Yes, that's measured yardage...
  3. Now think of that - while in a canoe...that's what I have to put up with when on the water.
  4. About half the time I'm punching a worm, creature or craw into thick matts, I'll have a SK Slither Rig in front of the hook instead of a regular bullet weight.
  5. You and me both, man. I average 35-40 yds...a 50 is a long cast for me.
  6. There's a size limit - e-mail the pic to yourself, selecting 'Medium' as the size.
  7. I've got a President 25 on my Dobyns Fury 702SF - works just fine.
  8. Pic of the spooled reel might help.
  9. Muscle like @A-Jay has, not settled around the middle like I have.
  10. You must hit the Brooklyn Park store as it's closer to you. I've never had issues finding what I need at Carver.
  11. $50 plus shipping gets you a new rod. "For damages determined to be from accident, normal wear and tear, or neglect, Dobyns Rods offers a No Hassle repair and replacement policy. " https://dobynsrods.com/warranty/
  12. I just go to the other places - Scheels and Fleet Farm aren't that much further from me than DSG, their stock is more complete, and the prices are better. Example: InvizX line; DSG $24.99, Scheels $20.99, Fleet Farm $19.99
  13. Just in summary If you're running a 12v TM - you can add a second battery in parallel (pos-pos, neg-neg) to double your running time.... and you don't have to change ANY of your wiring.
  14. As I said - Trolling motors are the only items that have differing voltage. Higher voltage TMs draw less power for the same amount of thrust. Example: A MinnKota 12v 50# TM draws 50amps at max speed, a 24v 70# only draws 42 amps at max. The trade off is double the cost for batteries, and double the weight. As a SLA battery weighs close to 65-70lbs - that's a lot of weight in a small space. Adding a second battery if you're running a 12v TM will extend your running time, but sonar, lights, etc will take 2amps or less total...so a 20AH SLA battery will run those for 5 hours without draining it too much.
  15. The only 'accessory' that would need 24v would be a trolling motor. Sonar, lights, etc all run on 12v. If you're talking a second battery to extend the time-on-water, you'd connect the two batteries in parallel (positive to positive, negative to negative) and still have only 12v...it's the AH ratings that would add together in that case...and both batteries should be the same AH rating.
  16. It's not the voltage that's the primary determinate of gauge - it's the amperage and distance - check this chart. Across the top is the length from battery to device, far left is max current, bulk of chart is what wire gauge to use.
  17. I hear you there - my general finesse rig is a President-25 on a Fury 702 and it's been solid and dependable. I could lighten the rig by swapping the Pres with one of my RZT-1000s...but that'd be only 1/2oz savings. I hear complaints about the Presidents, but I haven't had any issues with mine...so who knows.
  18. Even the newer Trions (2019 model) are solid - I've got a 30 and a 35 that have worked fine for me. The newest Trions (2020 model) are identifiable by the fact that they don't have a switch to turn the anti-reverse off...I dunno why, but some model reels from other manufacturers are doing the same thing.
  19. Scrambled is okay, but I prefer... Sunny-side with sausage (links or patties) and toast on the side OR A sausage & cheddar omelet with home fries.
  20. Best thing to do is get a line-counter and using the stats of your reel, plug the numbers into here. Advanced fishing reel line capacity estimator - Pattaya Fishing This will give you near exact measurements - I use it for all my line since I mono-back even my FC and Hybrid lines, and it's been close enough to not matter (1/2-2/3yd difference) on all my reels.
  21. How much braid do you have on top of the mono? I go for 70yds minimum so that I don't get that close to the knot. 10# on my President 25 and 20# on my Avocet RZT-3000 and I've yet to have the 'yank back' from the knot...and yes, I use a double-uni to join the braid to the mono backing.
  22. Yes - then it's an investment in the future. However - there are those of us who don't have anyone to pass things like this on to...in that instance, it's more about our own budget and what can I get that'll last me until I hang-up-my-hooks for good.
  23. I've noticed the same - my 10# Advance is very similar to my 12# YZH. Shouldn't be surprised - while advertised as a Mono, the detail description of Advance actually tells me it's a co-polymer like YZH. Right from Rapala's site... "is a combination of HMPE and Hyper Copolymer™"
  24. Do you do deliveries?
  25. I'm still waffling over upgrading my two remaining Aird-X rods - they perform well and my Furys don't seem that much better to justify the $65 difference.
