Old bassmaster info
This holds true with any magazine - they're gonna cater to their advertisers as most of the publishing costs of the mag are generated by ads.

Bait Fishing Help
Slip bobber, un-snelled hook - as light a weight as you can get away with placed 8"-10" above the hook for leeches and minnows...allow them to swim around as naturally as possible. 4"-6" above worms and grubs. I think the heaviest split-shots I have are 1/8oz, but my usual for live-bait is 1/32-1/16oz and only one. It's just to help get the bait down...don't need much for that.

Bait Fishing Help
For lake-bound panfish and trout - Bobbers - worms, grubs, leeches or chub minnows on the hooks. Suggest you get a slip-bobber - easier to set proper depth and MUCH easier to fish for the deeper ones - say beyond 6' depth. For stream trout - drift fishing with Trout Magnets or live bait

Bait Fishing Help
Nope - you work the C-Rig like a Texas rig mainly - slow drag with pauses/twitches. Toss it and 'forget it' for bass? Closest would be Ned, shaky-head, drop-shot and other finesse rigs Bass are primarily ambush-predators. They hide in/under weeds, behind logs or rocks, and 'leap out' at passing baitfish...which is why most lures used are 'action lures' like spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, frogs, crankbaits, jerkbaits, etc. It's only when they get lethargic and/or finicky that you drop to the super-slow working of finesse rigs.

Favorite Senko colors
I do color choice based on two things 1: Water clarity 2: Light levels Dingy water on a very cloudy day gets a dark color, clear water on a bright day gets a light color. BPS Stik-Os, Zoom Zlinkys and Yum Dingers all have their fans - but the preponderance of 'likes' still seems to be Yamamoto.

Bait Fishing Help
I wouldn't - another failure point is the snap. It's a bottom rig - no bobber Bottom or near bottom feeding fish - bass, walleye, maybe some panfish.

Use of Dobyns Sierra 700SF
^ What Fry said plus... 3/32 Gammy off-set finesse jigs or 3/32 Owner shaky heads with Zoom finesse worms. That's a couple things I'll be tossing on my Procyon L/F - which has about the same lure rating as the SA-700SF

Why there are three pumps in my boat?
I was thinking of making a livewell for the canoe and designed up a system using two electrically operated 3-way valves - one pump to do all three jobs. Then decided it was too much for the canoe, but the system would work on any boat.

Budget Lures
Jawbone brand spinnerbaits and buzzbaits - $3 each. DSG or F&S usually carry them. The bass in my avatar was caught on a 3/8oz Jawbone spinnerbait. They also have other lures available at comparable prices - not the most durable, but usable.

Baby Bull Shad Swimbait
I got a Baby Bull Gill - that's the limit of my SB baits...luckily I have rods that can handle that one. Bigger ones like the S-Waiver 168 I'd have to invest in a new rig...nope...not going there...though the 120 is doable.

Why there are three pumps in my boat?
Third one is probably the bilge.

I told ya winter wasnt over yet in Minn back in march.
Ya - 85 degrees last week, and this afternoon I had this in my backyard.

Sneaking into private property
Better hope the judge agrees with that sentiment.

Shimano Vanford drag upgrade, 1000 size
Ya - that's for oiled-felt...it can compress and stay that way. Carbontex is much more forgiving in that respect.

Sneaking into private property
Even I know that much - and I'm an 'ancient' Boomer.

What's the state of tackle inventory?
I stopped into Fleet-Farm last week for some crappie lures - they had full shelves/racks, lots of rods, reels, sonar units, etc. I think it's a location-by-location thing - they carry lots of Rapala and VMC products...and Rapala corp is headquartered here.

Locked Out
I usually find them when going from the FB posts.
-
Sneaking into private property
Even if it's faked - they're promoting 'bad behavior' by doing that...no difference to me.
-
Locked Out
Just search for the title on YouTube - they're usually on the BR channel there already.

Sneaking into private property
I see one vid from someone who does that, and they're on my 'banned' list...forever. One group that did it regularly and got some notoriety I won't even touch their baits.

6lb mono on 1000 sized reel
Nope - I got 6# Sufix Elite Mono on one and 6# InvizX FC on the other...no problems...of course I use KVD L&L on them...may make a difference.
-
Shimano Vanford drag upgrade, 1000 size
No - but I don't have mine tight in any case. Standard is to have it 1/3 of the line test, or 1/3 of the max rod rating - which ever is lower.

Best place to get sun gear
My visits are usually around September with my Doc Heidi Cole. Last visit she found one - halfway down my back, a few inches right of my spine - an froze it off. It's a little uncomfortable for a few days, but I'd rather that than what could result if it was left on. This is what I do - light colored cargo-pants help with the heat, and the Columbia and HUK long-sleeved T's I have are SPF 30 rated and thin enough to be cool...add the hat and I'm good to go.

Is there a reel brand that you have never had any trouble out of?
Diawa, Pflueger, Mitchell, Abu Those are the brands I've owned and never had an issue with them.

Will a sapphire blue zoom super chunk work as a sexy Shad swim jig trailer and a black n blue Chatterbait trailer?
So the one's I have are useless? Darn you, bait monkey!
