Is there a limit on dogs?
We got a 3 dog limit unless you're a licensed breeder or kennel Down there maybe - up here, the city has all kinds of restrictions of what I can and can't do with/on my property...and no, I'm not in an association - those 'people' are just crazy.

Heavy spinning rod recommendation for heavy grass
Reels in the $100 ballpark are good Shimano SLX Daiwa Fuego CT Two off the top of my head that are quality reels at that price - I've still got Fuego CTs in my arsenal that I use...it's a good reel. $100 rods - Shimano SLX, Daiwa Tatula XT to name a couple - are also out there and of good quality.

Fluoro for backing?
I'd save the expensive flouro for leader material on braid-loaded reels. This is what I use for backing Casting reels - $10.99 for 1500yds Spinning reels - $6.49 for 3000yds

Heavy spinning rod recommendation for heavy grass
St Croix Avid Inshore series - there's a few Heavy power rods in there. Fenwick HMG Inshore and Elite Inshore - both have Heavy power rods

boater safety course certification
Way more than I've ever sped - my old runabout would hit 43 on a good day per the paddlewheel speedometer it had. Bass Trek tops out at 24 per gps.

boater safety course certification
I'd like to see testing and licenses like for road vehicles. Back when the numbers and HP were lower it wasn't such a big deal, but given the speeds and quantity of boats out there, I think licensing the 'drivers' should be the way to go. More enforcement of the rules as well.

Another great actor gone
A lot of 'Canucks' came down here for acting....two off the top of my head are Shatner and Doohan (Trek's Kirk and Scotty)

Another great actor gone
Donald Sutherland, a subtle and sardonic star, has died at 88 June 20, 2024 • The actor appeared in hundreds of films and shows, including M*A*S*H, Klute, Ordinary People and the Hunger Games franchise. He was best known for playing off-kilter authority figures.

2024 Minnesota Season Thread
Popped out for a couple hours on the bank...only took the jig/bobber rig and a selection of 1" and 2" plastics. 1 Black Crappie 3 Bluegill 1 Pumpkinseed 1 dink Bass - questionable if it'd score or not. At least I got a line wet - but I'm paying for it now...ankle is killing me.

Budget Bang for Buck Rods and Reels (spinning and baitcaster)
The Aird-X is head-and-shoulders better than the Laguna...I know, I've owned both. Dumped the Laguna soon as I could, but still have 2 Aird-X rods in my arsenal despite having Mojo Bass and Victorys in there.

The latest sale thread
I haven't ordered from them - but they're legit. Been doing business since the 70s...purchased by Northern Tool and Equipment in 2012 - and they're based here in the Twin Cities.

Big fish on spinning or casting ?
Either, but I'm still more 'fluid' with spinning gear having over a decade more experience with that than casting gear. My PBs (listed in my sig) were all caught on spinning gear.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
With the way the Esox around here steal baits...not something I could afford to lose....if I could afford it. Good luck with it, man.

Who is making the high end multi strand braids these days?
Probably cause it's a 13 strand braid as opposed to an 8 strand. 832 is my primary go-to. I've tried Smackdown and the improvement in castability isn't worth the extra cost. I'm also checking out Spro 8x this year...so far it's good...just have to compare it to my tried-and-true 832.

Figuring out hook sizes
Print the download on 8.5x11 paper - 100% size. This is an accurate size chart for quite a few lure items - single hooks, trebles, split rings, etc. https://www.jannsnetcraft.com/sizing-chart

Garmin 73sv
Check all connections between the Echomap and the battery - not just the plug at the end...to me, it sounds like something is loose somewhere in the run. That includes checking any switches and the fuse box.

Rigging new Boat
That's okay long as you do what I did when rebuilding the trailer for Bass Trek. Untreated 2x4, 2 coats of oil-based Varathane before tacking on the carpet and installing the brackets.

Ideal set up?
I use a spinning rig for all my skipping - still haven't gotten the hang of skipping with a BC. 7' MH/F rod, 2500 reel, 20# braid lets me horse them out...I'm fishing pretty much the same type of waters as Gim.

Best guess at bass weight
I always knew you were a giant among bass anglers, Katie.

Ideal set up?
Dunno which reviews - line/lure ratings put it right at a Medium compared to other brands/lines. I have a FR703SF and in using it, it seems to be rated correctly.
