  1. I watched a video of a guy tearing apart a Battleborn and they looked like 26650 cells but are supposed to be proprietary cells. I would bet they are made in China though.
  2. Battleborn batteries are engineered and manufactured in the US. I suspect that the lithium cells in the battery are made in China but I don’t know for sure. Battleborn’s get rave reviews but they are pricey.
  3. I used to use cheap batteries from Walmart and an old rusty charger that my dad gave me. They worked great. The problem is, I'm afraid the fish can tell when I'm using cheap stuff. I mean just reading the thread on active vs inactive fish makes me think I need to spend more money on batteries.
  4. The most logical explanation is the transducer mount. Other explanations involve aliens and UFOs. ?
  5. There’s been a lot of talk here lately about Lithium batteries. It’s a move I’m strongly considering. I don’t believe everything on the Internet and I don’t know if the guy in this video knows what he’s talking about. He make a convincing argument. I’ve always been a little skeptical about the Lithium battery industry’s claim that lead acid batteries only have 1/2 the capacity of a LiFePO4 batteries. Everyone now seems to be convinced that your lead acid battery is doomed if you discharge it to 49.99%.
  6. I would be interested in where you got this information. Dakota is an American company but I haven’t seen anything suggesting their batteries or cells are made here.
  7. Very well said @A-Jay ?
  8. I think every opinion expressed in this thread is correct 20% - 80% of the time. ?
  9. Unfortunately, products from different manufactures do not work with each other. I would stay with Garmin since you have the Force trolling motor. I assume the trolling motor integrates with the electronics the same way Humminbird and Minn Kota do. There are lots of little integration features that you will only get if you stay with one manufacturer. These are not must have features but are nice.
  10. Well there is no doubt that I can find fish on my electronics that I can't catch. I prove that constantly. So in that respect I agree and I'm not gonna spend an hour trying to catch fish that have already proven that they are smarter than I am. That said, how much time you should spend is a judgement call. I'm gonna try several different lures for at least 10 minutes before I move on. In some cases maybe longer. What KVD did in last years BPT Chickamauga tournament was very interesting. From what I could tell, it looked like he camped out on one spot just about the whole day on the final day. He could see fish on the spot and would go long periods of time without catching any. He just waited until one or more got hungry. I think it was a combination of not wanting to give up the spot to a competitor and not having any other good options. He won the tournament so it worked for him.
  11. I’ve posted this before. It’s an interview that’s mentioned in the article.
  12. I usually fish alone but I enjoy fishing with others. I fish very differently when I’m alone. I move from spot to spot very quickly until I find fish and I can spend hour just driving around staring at the fish finder. I feel like I would drive someone else crazy doing this.
  13. Well that’s how I fish off shore. I tend to spend a lot of time (hours) graphing and dropping waypoints before I start fishing but there are exception.
  14. Happy Easter to everyone from me and Tennessee Girl!
  15. Prayers sent.
  16. I don’t drink much so I can’t add much to this thread but I have some cousins that used to be in the business so I thought I would share their recipe for bourbon. 1) Add one spoonful of burnt sugar to a gallon of fresh moonshine. 2) Let it age in the jug for at least an hour.
  17. Today is my first day of retirement. I’d been planning to spend it on the water but I celebrated my last day of work yesterday by testing positive for COVID. So today I’ll be watching TV and coughing. ?
  18. Rackets and pickles? Sounds very messy….and fun.
  19. I'm an Ott Defoe fan but it's hard for me to watch him fishing with no shoes. I could never walk around all those hooks with bare feet!
  20. It's important to understand how much drag you actually need. I set my drag with a scale and it is extremely rare that I set it higher than 5 pounds. If I was fishing with 60lb braid and using rod rated for 20-40 # line, I might go as high as 8 pounds of drag to protect the rod if I to hook a world record drum but usually I just lock it down when I know it very unlikely that I will hook something that could break my line or rod. I've never owned a reel that didn't have way more drag than I would ever need for bass fishing. Someone who also used a reel for saltwater fishing might think differently.
  21. That’s illegal. Lock that man up.
  22. A heading sensor is the answer to your problem. I’m not a Garmin guy but I’ve never seen a heading sensor that connected via a network interface. They usually connect via NMEA 2000 so you shouldn’t need a network hub.
  23. It looks legit to me but it's in Spain which might explain the issues getting orders in a timely manner. On the few items I checked, the prices were not good.
  24. One thing I don’t understand about the video is the boat runs for a while at 10 MPH then at about 2:05 the motor trims down and speeds up on it’s on. Why?
  25. I had T-Mobile for 2 days. The service was spotty at my house and I spend a lot of time here so I had to cancel. I live in the country so it’s not surprising but Verizon coverage is good here. I was impressed with their customer service when I called to cancel. They seemed to be trying a little harder than the other companies.
