The First Day of the Rest of my Life

Featured Replies

Today is my first day of retirement.  I’d been planning to spend it on the water but I celebrated my last day of work yesterday by testing positive for COVID. So today I’ll be watching TV and coughing.  ?

Wow

Your timing sucks! ?

Anyway, congratulations on your retirement, you’re gonna love it.

Take care of yourself. I hope you’ll be feeling better really soon.

Super Sorry to hear you've got 'The Covid' as my MIL calls it.

Hope you can get right very soon.

As for your retirement - Congratulations

Might just be one of the more interesting times in our lives.

From the transition, to the settling into it, to the reality of it;

it can be as much of a challenge as a welcome change.

Best part might be, you are now on @Tennessee Boy Time.

That’s the absolute truth! Welcome to the club!  The changeover to retired life is a bit more difficult than I ever imagined but it’s been 2 years for me and I’m getting there.

Congratulations on your retirement @Tennessee Boy, and hopefully the Covid bump in your newly minted retirement road is in your rear view mirror soon. And as @A-Jay mentioned above so well, retirement does take some adjustments but they’re definitely worth it and worth celebrating!

congrats

One thing I'd like to mention, you instantly become a handyman for everyone that knows your retired, seriously.

Welcome to the retired club. I am in my eighth year of retirement and wish I could have done it a lot sooner. It is tough. It took me almost 20 minutes to get adjusted to it. Hope you get well soon.

Congrats on the retirement. I hope to join you one day this decade!

Worst retirement story ever. I worked at a company decades ago, and a woman retired with IiRC over 35 years or more. Had a big party for her on Friday, her last day. While leaving on her last day ever at work, she was struck by a truck who came off the exit ramp and the brakes failed. Killed instantly headed across the street to the parking lot. Never got to enjoy one second of retirement away from work. Shortly afterwards the company built a pedestrian bridge across the road to the parking lot.
