  3. I used to use buoys constantly. I’ve transitioned to GPS and waypoints. If you have a heading sensor so that your fishing finder orients the map to the directions the boat is facing, it makes it very easy to translate what you are seeing on screen to whats in front of you. Otherwise, have buoys can help a lot with boat positioning and knowing where to cast.
  4. I have ordered from Japan Lure Shop. They have fast free shipping. They are cheaper that Digitaka on the reels I use. Interestingly, the last time I ordered from them I placed a Tackle Warehouse order at about the same time on a Thursday. The package from Japan arrived on the next Tuesday and the package from Tackle Warehouse arrived four days later.
  5. Welcome to the forum. Looking forward to your contributions.
  6. I'll share a local one that was a widely held belief many years ago. Fish don't bite when Kentucky Lake is running backwards. To reduce flooding on the Ohio and Mississippi River, TVA sometimes stops the water flow through Kentucky Dam and runs the water backward through Pickwick Dam and down the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, thus bypassing the Ohio/Mississippi. No one was ever able to explain to me how they got the water to flow from the low side of Pickwick Dam to the high side.
  7. That rods made of expensive and/or exotic materials significantly improve your ability to detect a strike. When I was age 25 I bought into this big time. 30 years later, after using many different rods both expensive and cheap, I think it might be the biggest myth in bass fishing.
  8. That's very cool. Next time your wife makes fun of you, show her some expensive solutions in the Bass Pro shops catalog.

  10. @A-Jay I just ordered some of those shad baits. They look great. Thanks.

  12. High end rods are for impressing your friends more than catching fish so it really depends on who your friends are. ?

  17. I know that our Tennessee Wildlife Resources agency has done a lot of research on the topic. See this link for the details. https://www.tn.gov/content/dam/tn/twra/documents/FLMBstocking.pdf
  18. I’m sure many world and state records for the more obscure species are broken without any one noticing. In the nineties I was fishing a tournament with a guy that caught a monster Freshwater Drum on a rattletrap. It took him a half hour to land the thing. After he released it he ask me how much I thought it might weigh. I said 60lbs. He said he was thinking 55lbs. Neither of us had any experience guessing the weight of a fish that big. Neither of us knew the world record, which was caught near where we were fishing, was 54.8 lbs.
  19. Congratulations. I haven’t fished Center Hill in 30 years but I’ve been saying I’m gonna give it a try just to get our of my comfort zone. The primary cover on Old Hickory right now is Jet Skis. I’m sure Percy Priest is even worse.

  21. I think @A-Jay said it well. On good days I use very few. On bad days I use a bunch. These numbers do not include different colors and sizes. I've thrown over 30 different baits in the last year. Over 90% of the bass I caught were on 6 baits. That tells me I might be better off with fewer baits in the boat but I'm not sure how to make that happen. I think we all spend too much time looking for the right bait when we should be looking for the right location.
  22. When did they move Kentucky Lake to the Northeast? I was planning to fish there this weekend. Now I don't even know where it is. ?

  24. The current 360 when connected directly to the network hub is equally shared and controlled by any FF on the network. I'm thinking the new 360 might be controlled by a single newer model FF and shared over the network. If that's the case then I'll need a new Solix $6K will keep you current for 10-12 months max
