  1. Hey Guys, we just rented a house for the 1st week of June on Lake Hamilton, Arkansas. Can someone give me some preliminary information on the 3 lakes I mentioned above. From what I understand there is good largemouth fishing on all 3 but Hamilton can get a little busy. I'm trying to put a plan together as if and when I may need to trailer the boat to Ouachita or DeGray. Would appreciate some feedback and as always I appreciate your help. GO BIG RED
  2. Consider a MHF Shimano Crucial. 139.00 and can be found on sale. Great medium priced rod and the big boys will warranty as if it is they're own brand. GO BIG RED
  3. Start with something heavy and when your comfortable reduce weight. As you reduce the more proficient you will become. Same thing with wind. Throw heavy into the wind and as you get more comfortable reduce your weight. Practice the wind in the yard before you have to work against it in the water. My 2 Cents GO BIG RED
  4. Hi Bobby, Send me a couple of tubes when you there out. I will throw the old tubes I have in the back of the boat for buddies. Rod
  5. Sorry for the delay, has been forever since I've been on or fished. Wehrspan became my favorite this summer. Quantity and quality, my big for the year was 6+. Walnut is great but lots of pressure, Zorinsky has reaaly declined over the last 5 yrs, you can find I believe more big fish on Zorinsky but very limited numbers and you will need to know the humps and channels to find fish. The timber has rotted and provides very few fish. If your willing to drive and buy a Iowa license 3 Mile, 12 Mile Anita and many more lakes within 2:15 hrs. Mozingo in Missouri (2:00 hrs) is awesome. Good Fishing and GO BIG RED
  6. Great Fish Ed, congrats. I havent forgot I owe you a trip just havent been that way this year. No way I'm interested in double or nothing this year, you guys look awesome. If you come to Lincoln for the game we can fish that morn. Rod

My 2008 media guide arrived today. That means season tix in the next few days. As always GO BIG RED. And btw I would like to personally thank the LSU guys for being good enough to sending us Pelini.
  11. I have not used both, however I went to buy a carrot stick and came home with a Crucial. The reasons: 1) Cost the Crucial was less money 2) Cabelas warranties Shimano rods as there own, ie. you have a problem you get a replacement in store. No shipping, No waiting. I have not been disappointed with my decision. GO BIG RED
  12. Besides the best guide I've ever fished with and btw I've paid alot of guys to out fish me. I left Fork with a good friend. If you need a guide call Tom GO BIG RED
  13. I use a Shimano Crucial 6'10" MH Extra Fast tip with a Shimano 100 DSV. 30# Sufix Braid with a Fluoro Leader. Wacky or Trig. GO BIG RED
  14. Vanish is crap in my book. I have a 1200 yard spool that berkley has replaced once and it is still crap. Someone can have it they will pay the shipping. GO BIG RED
  15. x3 I just purchased one this month and it has replaced 2 more expensive custom mades. Cabela's also treats Shimano as their own in regards to warranty. Replacement in the store no shipping. GO BIG RED
  16. I've been invited to fish a club tourney as a guest on the back of a boat with a guy from church. I've always fished out of my boat and have everything with me in my tackle storage. I get what I want, when I want it and then put it all away. Now I need to be organized and a little more mythotical let alone thoughtful of not overloading my invite. How and what would you scale down to to have what you need but not overkill? BTW, I dont own a tackle box anymore. Everything is in individual plastic bags, or falcon boxes or carriers. Thanks Rod
  17. I've never used one for paypal but being in the financial services industry we use them for anything that has to do with sensitive information. It's a great idea.
  18. Great trip and great fish. Thats a great day anywhere let alone a more northern state. Wheres your hometown?
  19. I've purchased Michelins at Sam's Club for that money on my last 2 suburbans. Good price and service in every metro when traveling.
  20. You Texans might want to be a little more specific on your definition of local. I've been to Lubbuck.
  21. Hi Brg, The Missouri is not great for bass fishing in our area. I wish it was, I took a tour boat on the Potomic yesterday and seen all the bass fishing and made me jealous. Wehrspan and Walnut have been the best for me. My big fish of the year in Neb came from Wehrspan 21.5". Also some quantity all year. I'll look forward to our outing. Rod
  22. I hated the MegaStrike so much I just bought a new 3 pack (I cant pass up a bargain). But now I hear about the new improved versions coming out and I have 2 year supply. :'( Sounds like I need to loose a couple of caps so I get to re-order. As to the original question I'm 100% sure fish hold on longer. I will not find myself without a tube. GO BIG RED
  23. I just bought a 7' mh extra fast from Cabela's. The reason I went with the crucial over St Croix, Carrot Stix and Some of the comparable price range is that Cabela's treats them as their own on warranty issues and will trade them out in store. No shipping, no waiting. BTW I love the rod. Its been in my hand 90% of the time. I would like to know about the rebate. I gave $139.00 at Cabela's. GO BIG RED
  24. You guys are always a wealth of information. Thanks guysl I am committed to use leader unless the water doesn't warrant. I'm going to replace my 15# with 20# on the next spool. And I think I will by flouro casting line versus the more expensive leader line. I am going to experiment with a few of the knots when Im prepping at the house and have time and directions but will stay with the uni to uni on the boat. Thanks again GO BIG RED
  25. I would also extend my offer to the wonderful fans of: Fresno State North Carolina Miami ( this is a begrudging offer from a Husker ) Rice Stanford Georgia Florida State (another toughy for a Husker)
