It's Over. Top Baits of the Year.
I did so well with smallmouth on swim jigs that I just placed an order with Siebert for 45 more; IMO they are the best, and I especially like the wire tied skirts.

It's Over. Top Baits of the Year.
Looks like a discontinued 6th Sense.

Overlapping lures
Fun to catch, major pain to remove trebles from.

So what's your other obsession?
Year 'round, nearly every day, if I don't go fishing I hit the gym at 5:00 in the morning; followed by an hour and a half dedicated to exercise and reviewed training for my Border Collie.

Keeping track of multiple rods and techniques
I'm 83 and know what day of the week it is when the neighbors put out their garbage. I keep about 20 combos in the boat and constantly switch with about 20 more from home, but I know them all like a momma hen knows her chicks.

Standby generators
Whoever you select as a supplier or installer should be able to determine the size unit needed. Run additional supply lines to the fireplace, kitchen stove, and barbeque grill; it is best to complete installation during construction, not after.

Anybody like those Jawdroppers? I didn't.

Do You Truly KNOW Your Primary Pond Or Lake.......???
Over 1,000 miles of shoreline at normal pool, water levels may fall 15 feet below or rise 35 feet above; ain't no way to learn it well. Keeps the boredom at large.

Daiwa Salamandura SV TW 150 (2024/25) VS Shimano Curado 150 M (2025)
My opinion is opposite of yours, but every shoe does not fit everyone. I have given away, sold, or laid to rest all my Shimano reels except for two Calcuttas and one Sustain, which see very limited use; Curado was the most disliked. I'm a Daiwa fan all the way and keep adding more; any problems I've traced back to operator error. I do believe that anglers are more efficient by sticking with one brand rather than spending time and $ experimenting with others, regardless of the brand.

Rebel Craws?
The two smaller sizes were top producers for me when I wade fished for Smallmouth; one color shined above the rest, don't remember the name. Probably have at least a dozen asst. in the garage; not used since I relocated.

backing up the boat trailer
No one has mentioned the loss of depth perception. As a teen ager I worked in a trucking garage for a large paperboard manufacturer; serviced, fueled, made minor repairs, and backed full size semi trailers two deep into narrow stalls, broke off a few rear view mirrors during the learning process, but got to be really good at it. The years have robbed me of depth perception, no cure or aids for it. Today I have a dual cab truck, 21ft plus boat, and it takes me forever to back down an empty ramp or into my own garage; there must be others like me.

Standby generators
I had a Generac whole house unit added to my former home in Northern Illinois; hooked up to natural gas and it kept me from flooding several times. Now in Arkansas, I had a Generac installed and purchased a 500 gal. propane tank to fuel it. Recommend the brand, but you should have the same person or company install it as who will provide annual checkups and repairs. If that someone is not Generac certified, he will probably not have access to parts or warranty service. A backup generator is like insurance : costly, but worthwhile when needed. Buy a unit larger than actually needed, both of mine were 22,000 watt; he will need more than 22,000 watt unit if he includes the garage.

Round BFS Reel Fascination
There are 2 Tatula XT BFS rods; Small Plug Rod and Vertical Master. They are entirely different, I have both, matched with different Daiwa BFS reels; love them both. The Small Plug Rod is for just what the name implies, and the Vertical Master is intended for video games/minnow shaking. I will probably add a second Small Plug Rod this year, it's a hoot with Smallmouth and Brown Trout.

Carolina rig speed?
I seldom use a Carolina Rig on my lake; guaranteed to snag on the rocky bottom.

Attention Finess experts
This year I bought 2 Daiwa BFS setups; spooled one with 6# Tatsu, the other with 15# Power Pro Hi-Vis Yellow and 6# Tatsu leaders. Next year they will both be spooled with 15# Gray Smackdown and 6# Tatsu leaders; FG Knot is a necessity.

Winter 2025 ~ 2026
You guys are living what I moved away from; don't miss it at all. Planning to throw some jerkbaits tomorrow.

Lures you actually use
I'm curious; which Zako do you use Neko rigged, and just how do you rig it?

Nearly forgot two of my post spawn favorites: Berkley Wake Bull and BPS the Egg.

American Legacy Fishing
Bought from them many times, only one problem and they corrected it immediately. They shipped me the wrong BFS rod; when I called they sent out the correct model without waiting for me to return the other. That was this year. I will be waiting for Chad and Brian to open; unlike before, this time they will have skin in the game.

FFS questions: high wind, how to stop catching Gar, changing appearance with range, bottom fish
My lake is full of Gar and I don't want them in my boat; Longnose Gar up to 7 ft. long can be watched taunting schools of smaller suitors during the spawn, right under my dock. Usually when I see a lot of Gar in one area it means lots of shad are present, and Bass are nearby. I don't hookup with many, but they keep nipping the tails off my soft bait trailers.

Is it possible to cast too Hard?
Many backlashes occur when alternating between different lures, rods, reels, and line. An angler may get into the groove for one setup, then switch to something entirely different and experience a few backlashes for a short while. Swinging the rod like a baseball bat instead of properly loading the rod will cause problems, so will too little thumb pressure. Too much line on the reel is a recipe for birdnests, so is line memory when the line peels off the reel like a slinky. I have been guilty of all the above.

It's Over. Top Baits of the Year.
LC Slender Pointer 97, asst. Scroungers, Megabass 110 plus 1, swim jigs, Megabass Magdraft 6", Bass Mafia 5" Loaded Daingerous, LC Gunfish in 3 sizes. I have all that's needed to play video games, but that is boring and I fish for fun. Weather is getting cold and windy but the water was 62 degrees today so it's not over yet.

Fishing sunglasses suggestions
Cocoons is having a 20% off sale. Just ordered a pair of fit overs with polarized amber transitional lenses for $72. This is my third pair, I've been using them for years.

Tired of it…
I drove Chicago expressways for years before I got out of Dodge; now they are 600 miles in my dust and only a bad memory. Today I travel on 2 laners, cow paths, and rabbit trails; heavy traffic means 4 or 5 other vehicles in sight.
