Needing a Shimano bait casting reel
I am wanting to put it on a Gloomis Bronzeback 6’9” ml rod. Right now I have a Curado 70 XG on it with 8# line. The lightest thing I can throw is a TRD on a 1/8 oz head. I would like to be able to use lighter Neds and maybe 10# line. What Shimano should I get?

Storing items in the battery box
I store stuff in the battery compartment. I, tool kit, small fillet board, live well dip net and extra rain suit (in a water proof bag). I have had no issues so far.

Battery issues
This was an issue for me when I had Lowrance units. When I changed to Humminbird they were the same. I at first added an Optima blue top just for the 2 bow Solix units. After 11 months it was grave yard dead. It was replaced under warranty. The distributor wanted me to try an Interstate. In another 11 months it died. He replaced it and said that if I didn’t use 2 batteries for the Humminbirds he would no longer honor my warranty. The two lasted long enough to be out of warranty when they died. I changed brands to Pro Guide and saw the same issue. Two weeks out of warranty and dead. My electronics guys recommended that I bite the bullet and get lithium. I decided to go with Pro Guide and they took into consideration the age of my core exchange and gave me a $300 credit off the lithium. It was a long frustrating road but I think it may be over.

Battery issues
I’ve had the exact same issue and spent lots of money with techs and battery dealers. What I have finally done is buy a lithium 100 ah battery and have run all three of my Solix units to it. I also bought a single bank 10 amp charger which is wired to the lithium. It’s been a year now with no issues.

Bearing oil
I’ve never seen a reason to use anything other than Shimano oil.

Looking for a jig
You might want to take a look at Tackle Max craws. I’ve had success using them with Jewell Pee Wee jigs. https://tackle-max.com/products/tackle-max-crawfish?variant=47467544379684

What’s the best flourocarbon that’s not super expensive?
It may not be the best but I have had good luck with Seaguar red label. I’ve been using it for years. My main usage is 12# and I buy 1000 yd spools from Amazon.

No more fishing license for me!
In MO all we have to have is an id with birthday on it. Any more they don’t even ask. But it still costs me $60 to fish your waters.

Spotted Bass Q's
Here in Southwest Missouri our lakes have largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass. You are likely to catch all three in the same area. Spotted bass often are present in schools so if you catch one you just might get several in the same place.

Suffix 832
I should have clearer in my post. It is a bait casting reel.

Suffix 832
I recently bought some 15# and put it on a setup for Ned rigs and small swim baits. I put it on with tension and have used it 3 times. It keeps digging on the spool and causing problems with casting. Anyone got any suggestions?

Best rod for finesse jigs - around 200
I have 3 setups specifically designed for finesse jigs (3/16 oz). They are custom builds. If it were me I would contact Delaware Valley Tackle and see what he would do for you.

Cheapest way to get another Garmin screen only
The typical way to connect units is via Ethernet. Be sure both have that capability.

Do you still replace your spool bearings to ceramic hybrids?
I used to super tune my Curados and put ceramic bearings in them until Shimano came out with the E series. They didn’t need anything so I quit and haven’t done it since.

Alabama Rig
I go mostly with 1/16 oz heads with a light wire 4/0 hook.

Supporting Local Tackle Shops
When I want something I go to the shop that isn’t a chain store. It is located about halfway between Bass Pro and Academy. John often has a better selection than either of the others. He will also order stuff for me if it isn’t in stock.

Yes me too.

Hair Jigs
I used to make lots of hair jigs in several sizes. I rarely used larger than a 90° 1/0 hook because it was finesse fishing with light line and thin smaller hooks penetrated easier. I opted for color combinations that the fish had never seen. You might be surprised what combinations work.
