  1. Looks bananas! I’m picturing it on a carolina rig, deep weed edges…adding it to the list.
  2. I guess I’ll be the one to state the obvious here, this is the Nedko rig. Let it be written!

  4. Some impressive collections here, wish I fished enough to justify a 20+ rod lineup but I fish from bank or canoe most trips. I’m rockin’ 7 casting & 1 spinning setups atm: 7’mh/f st croix legend elite 7’ md/f st croix avid x 7’ mh/mf dobyns dc 705cb 7’ hv/mf dobyns dc 706cb 7’3” heavy daiwa dx reaction 7’3” heavy daiwa tatula swimbait 7’3” xh shimano expride 7’ md/f daiwa kage-spinning I’ll eventually add a medium light spinning and a dedicated carolina/mojo setup.
  5. I second p-line cxx, I’d go with the 15lb for lures under 3oz, it’s the equivalent diameter of most 20lb lines at .40mm.
  6. I've been using a 7' medium daiwa kage about a year now for jerks and cranks among other things; shakeyhead, wacky, neko. It is appropriately named the "all-around" model, it sells for under $200, it is the only spinning rod I have or could imagine needing, very happy with it.
  7. What? Line diameter affects a lures fall rate and running depth, kinda important if you ask me. I choose my line primarily based on diameter with its strength being a secondary factor, there are a few exceptions of course like punching and heavy cover.
  8. Bullet weight rigged backwards resists wedging a little better.
  9. The rapala shadow rap shad is a slow floater with 2 hooks... https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Rapala_Shadow_Rap_Shad_Jerkbaits/descpage-RSRSD.html

  11. Heard through the grapevine that they're made with the same blanks as the champions.
  12. Picked up the 71 mgl last spring and I love it, my last few curados went to heck in a handbasket in less than two seasons, started feeling geary, drags became sketchy, but this one is still solid after a full season, ??. I’ll pick up a 150 before spring. I ran a 200k for boot tails like the 6” magdraft, 5.8’s, bigger spinners, chatters and wound up replacing it with a tatula 200 for the capacity. Larger diameter line was an issue for me with the curado 200 with cast n crank presentations and 17-20lb line, I could easily empty over half the line on a cast, bye-bye ipt’s.
  13. The Chicagoland fishing expo which was to be held in schaumburg has been officially "postponed" until next year, bummer, was looking forward to it.
  14. Just buy the diameter you need/want despite test rating which are rarely highly accurate, most braids test 50+% over their lableled rating anyhow.
  15. Trying to branch out from the keitechs a little I tried the storm largo shad near the end of last year and was very pleasantly surprised, great swim, outstanding finishes, more durable than most, and beefy enough, despite being 4", to cast quite well on my mh/f casting rod. Pictured with owner 5/0 flashy swimmer. It's for sure gonna be a player for me this spring. Hoping for a 5" version, comes in 3" too.
  16. No doubt that big baits catch small fish too. Being in an urban area on the outskirts of Chicago the pressure is real and big baits makes for bites that are few and far between. I've found the "sweet spot" in regards to catching numbers and size for my neck of the woods are baits in the 5-6" range and I'm really happy there for a few reasons, one being it's allowed me to downsize my gear which is nice since I mostly fish from bank or canoe, I do not miss them longer rods.
  17. Coverts on sale for $ 3.50 where may I ask?
  18. Lol if your'e referring to me... my apologies. As far as the intended subject I only throw single colorados all the time as I only use spinnerbaits in stained to slightly stained water which explains my interest in that nichols blade.
  19. I love them too! I started throwing paddle/boot tail swimmers around '06, I layed waste to the local bass (and pike) polulation for years using primarily the 5" yum money minnows and various shad type bodies on jigheads including the lunker city shakers until I noticed my catch rates started really dropping off right around 2014-15 or so which is about when the keitechs started gaining popularity. My go to is the 4.8 and 5.8 keitechs and rage swimmers on owner flashy swimmer or beast hooks, I'll throw 6.8's too in and around the spawn too, always rigged weedless, the northern natural lakes I fish are heavily vegetated most of the year. I used strike kings shadalicious, bass magics and a few other hollows for a few years way back but don't use them anymore and now prefer the solid bodies. As far as glides I use mainly small ones (5-6") as a 5 pounder is a giant in these parts, I like the s-waver 120, it accounted for my biggest this year, I also dig the baby bullshad and baby bullgills too for skipping pontoons and docks, they catch numbers and size. While not technically a swimbait I also like big wakes like the black dog baits shellcracker, but this last year I got my hands on a few sweet custom made bluegill wakebaits which seem destined to replace them based on how well they did in the short time I've had them. In recent years I have returned to including more traditional lures and presentations due to pressure and popularity of swimbaits but they'll always be my passion and confidence lures.
  20. I have both, I don’t find the bluegill color to be very bluegillish, way too bright and yellow, it’s almost the same color as the trout just with the stripes added, pick one you can’t go wrong with either. (Edit: talking about bluegill not the new bluegill color)
  21. Well that was the first place I looked but I see willow leaf only, no Colorado’s, I’m talking blades only, not the whole spinnerbait.
  22. My google-fu seems to be a little rusty, where you sourcing them from?
  23. As long as your rod has a decent amount of flex it shouldn’t be an issue just keep an eye out for line dig (repack your spool often) and run your drag a little light. I have really good hook up and landing ratio with 30 pound braid to 10lb leader on a dobyns 705cb. I prefer the precise lure control braided line gives you.
