  1. I would only throw white or chartreuse swimjig in moderately low water visibility, like 1-2 feet, or if they’re on shad.
  2. I could see the coiling being annoying on bottom contact stuff but I use it mostly cranking bigger boot tails so it’s always under at least a little tension and I don’t readily notice it.
  3. It’s not too bad with a line conditioner.
  4. Go to line for butch brown is 20lb abrazx , nuff said.
  5. Strike king caffeine shad, killer on a bladed jig. Close second for me is the blade minnow
  6. Weighted techniques like slider, shaky, neko, and t-rig I use the tmac. For weightless “floating” worm and wacky I prefer the trick worm, only exception is the trick worm gets used for flick shake.
  7. Hopefully that's not the only change coming involving the brazenly illegal foid card, with any luck it the current court case deciding it's fate will completely banish it. You should't have to pay a fee and submit private information to obtain constitutional right.
  8. +1, I stumbled upon this combination a few years ago, that shimmy is as good as a senko.
  9. I cut most all guards shorter to make the profile more streamlined, just got to do that first then thin out fibers to get the stiffness you want.
  10. Don’t be afraid to mod the jig and snip off some of the bristles until it feels right to you. I tweak the weed guard and skirt on every single jig I buy right out of the package.
  11. Sure you can swim them all... until you can't. Talking about thick weeds of course, that's where a proper swim jig with a bullet nose comes in.
  12. I love to slooowww roll swim jigs from ice out all the way to late fall. I do this near, and often on the bottom grinding it slowly (with pauses too) through vegetation, weed edges, along sloping banks, dropoffs etc. Dirty jigs finesse or outkast pro, 5/16-3/8, boot tail trailers preferred. This has been a fantastic and consistent pattern for me the last four years.

  14. A dt10 on 15-17lb line will run at the depth you want and you’ll have a little extra muscle should you actually hook a giant. It’s not a flatside but dt’s are known for being subtle.
  15. i’m not a Chicagoland native nor do I consider myself a pizza aficionado so take this with a grain of salt, I’m not real big on deep dish but I do like malnatis with sausage, nancy’s is real good, I get rosatis often just because they’re so close, kinda hit or miss with them. You?
  16. Vegetables don’t belong on pizzas
  17. One of the more infamous being the study done by berkley or maybe it was pure fishing a long time ago where they tested a craw bait with pincers intact vs one with a missing one which did better, and then tested one with both missing which did better yet, basically they created the ned rig and confirmed that it kicks azz but the project got shelved because they didn’t think they could sell a plastic body with no appendages, what a missed opportunity! Confirms the old saying that lures are designed catch fisherman not fish.
  18. Kalin's ultimate saltwater bullet jig comes with a stout 3/0 hook in 1/4 & 3/8 oz, owner makes a great bullet jig head too.
  19. The length of leader determines 2 things: how far of a fall the lure has once the sinker touches down, and how far a fish can move before feeling the weight. Once on bottom the lure will stay there unless the weight itself is lifted up unless it’s a true floating plastic. Lure action will be the same regardless of leader length no matter how many times you hear “use long leaders to let your lure hover above the weight/weeds” regurgitated, dragging pulls a lure down. For length 12-24” suits me fine for easy casting and less chance of gut hooking fish.
  20. Ah of course, as a big st croix fan I’m looking forward to them and holding off on my next rod purchase waiting for the new lt series myself. Hope they can compete with the exprides performance wise. I was lucky enough to pick up an avid x direct from st croix for about $170 right before they ran out of them, fantastic value.
  21. Welcome neighbor! I’m in lake county too.
  22. I’m in, pm’d you slonezp.
  23. Have you heard new ones are coming? I was under the impression that they were discontinued and the victory line replaced them, which makes sense, why have two lines at the same price point?
