Stayed with the stock 60 hp Mercury. Word is, the 75 hp only gained 3 mph over the 60 yet a $1500 upgrade. That equates to $500 per mph. ?

I'm a creature of habit and always seem to catch my biggest fish of the year during early pre-spawn....... I'll be throwing swim jigs as usual.

I can certainly relate to this, early 90's though. 1 child in daycare, another child in kindergarten, building a house and working 6 - 10 hr days and wife starting her own business, wheeeew........ zero fishing. We do what we gotta do, hang in there.

I've never kept a log but can safely say that during the time we were raising our children, fishing fell off significantly. Fast forward and since I've retired, I'm averaging 3 days per week from mid March until early November. Wife and I also spent quite a bit of the summer months in Air bnb's on various lakes where I'll fish everyday, several times a day. 25 times for a working man would be great ?

I'm a fisherman who gets skunked in the winter time, quite often. I simply don't catch until water temps climb into the 50's. But when I do start catching fish, it's always on a swim jigs reeled very slow. Yes, I always trim the skirts to just below the bend in hook.

I pitch in standing timber late winter in deep water, clear. Seems like every fish I catch is in the upper water column....... Orange and brown here. Also like to free-fall swimbaits on an underspin.
