honest conversation here. fishing rod slipping from your hand, midcast.
Years ago while fishing with my brother, I threw a rod and reel into the water after loosing a good fish......he still laughs about it. I'm a 2-handed caster and prefer longer rods behind the reel seat so slipping hasn't been an issue....... purposely throwing? Yes

Lake Erie 10 lb Smallmouth
Hmmm, I let this young kid Hunt my property and he has All the latest technology. He has cameras set up in various locations with live feed. It gives statistics where the big boys like to be and when they like to move. He's killed the biggest bucks on my property each and every year I've let him hunt. Technology makes a difference whether it's an animal or a fish. Yes, I still let him hunt ?

My prayers answered!
That's awesome, really is. Opposite experience here as my youngest daughter married an Xbox addict who couldn't keep a job. The marriage lasted a whopping 8 months. I'll remember to pray the next time.

not entirely sure why I participate in forums.
Mobile 1 extended performance. Any opinion other than this won't be taken seriously and shows illiteracy and lack of character and have to assume that the individual has never succeeded at anything in life. ?

not entirely sure why I participate in forums.
Ha Ha , yes happens all the time. You just gotta be thick skinned and just roll with it....... I'm actually entertained by it. Example: I bought a new Ford F-250 so joined a Ford truck forum in hopes of gaining knowledge. I'm an older guy and don't like my vehicle doing things that I can do so I asked " how can I disable auto high beam ? " A response I got " if you can't handle modern technology, you have no business driving a new truck. Those features are for your safety so I suggest NOT DRIVING after dark ". ? I replied back " good one ? "

weed guards on Jigs
I actually trim the guards, spread them and mash them closer to the hook and seldom hang. But I'm not gonna be the one to tell Greg he's doing it wrong ?

Winter 2022-23
Sitting on the couch with the dog ? We just had an ice storm yesterday with a half inch of sleet. Wife said the roads down in the valley are drivable but heavily salted. Salt is good on fries, not undercarriages...... I'll just stay home.

Road To The Super Bowl 2023
If Mr. Irrelevant keeps playing the way he is, the Niners will be relevant in the playoffs. Philly or SF coming out of NFC. Imo If Buffalo maintains homefield, don't see anyone going to orchard park and coming out with a win, not even Mahomes. Just for fun, Superbowl prediction ? Buffalo 27 SF 24

Winter is coming...
Reel maintenance has been completed. The weather won't allow fishing for this ole man, we got ice. Cutting wood and watching football is as entertaining as it gets right now.

Your Work Ethic
The key phrase " instilled as youngsters ". We didn't realize that we had a strong work ethic growing up because it was the way of life. Mom would drop us boys off at the local farms and we'd make hay all day and all summer until school started. In the morning before the hay dried, we were in the garden pulling weeds, snapping peas and filling buckets with vegetables for mom to can. My 1st full-time job where I was actually called an employee lol, I rode my bike to the big orchard up the road 6 days a week and sprayed for bugs, pruned trees and my favorite....... swinging a long piece of PVC pipe all day thinning out clusters of peaches. We were extremely busy during picking season. My wife has a very strong work ethic but it's not physical, it's simply being dedicated to work. Laziness is hard to grow out of if you weren't tought to work at a young age......work ethic.

Tough days are still fun.....
Looks like a fun time. I'd be quite pleased with 25 fish.

The Fight
River Smallmouth fight harder than any fish I've caught pound for pound and pickerel the least. Crappie on ultralight is also quite the fight. We have several lakes around here that support healthy populations of Largemouth and Smallmouth and when you hook one, most often you know what you got.

Where to fish in the wintertime? Lake, River or pond?
I've found over the years that lakes and ponds produce much better than rivers during the winter for Largemouth and the shallower the better on sunny days. I also much prefer the water temp 45* or above or I'm just simply enjoying the day and not catching. Smallmouth around here, mainly the river are much more active in the colder months and are easier to catch.

Slx xt
Because the internet is littered with reviews claiming the SLX line of reels as the best bang....... I'm a believer.

Y’all meet Oliver
Ha ha, yeah they do grow out of the appetite for drywall, thankfully. The wife's shoes stay on the menu though. ?

What lure do you keep a secret???
No secrets here. I've ran into other fisherman out on the water who were fishing my home lakes for the first time. I always give them the low down on what bait has been productive. Infact, just last year I gave 2 fisherman a pack of Robo worms and rigged them up for drop-shot.

Y’all meet Oliver
I'm a huge dog lover, all of them. I really hate to admit this BUT when the wife and I were building our current home, we lived in her parents house while they were living in Alabama in they're seasonal home. We thought what a great time to get a puppy and get it house trained before we move into our new home........we wasn't expecting that pup to have an appetite for wood trim ?

Your Moron Moments
I had an epic day couple of years ago with a Jerkbait early spring " prespawn " and actually made a post on this site. Left my phone in my truck and didn't have a single pic. It actually made me wonder if anyone actually believed I caught the fish that I claimed. I certainly believe you caught a 7lb bass, congrats.

How do you slow down?
This is pretty deep but I like the way you think ?

Baseball
I just wish that all series were 7 games. Not sure the best team comes out of a 5 game series, last season was a great example.

How do you slow down?
I'm a power fisherman at heart but know that falling water temps require slower techniques. I've said it before, I struggle to catch fish " largemouth " when water temps drop below 45* but when I do catch one it's always a big fish. The only techniques that I've had success with for winter fishing is jigs and underspins in deep water........ cast and let bait fall all the way to bottom and reel back very slowly. It's also the only time of year that I rely heavily on my FF to locate fish, otherwise I'm throwing to cover. Something else that attracts me to winter fishing is, I have the lake to myself.
