  1. I actually just finished cracking open a Nasci FB 1000. It does in fact have bearings supporting the main gear as well as an X ship bearing. The FC model upgrades to a screw in handle which is a plus. The line roller isn't the best on these but an upgrade kit from Hedgehog studio is readily available. The one thing to be aware of is that at least on the FB series, the 1000 size has a single felt drag washer which is what I would say is my one gripe. Nasci FB 1000 has 4 bearings total 2 supporting main gear 1 supporting pinion gear 1 X ship Bushings are present in the handle (plastic) and line roller (metal)
  2. Dont care about colors matching but that should be a fun combo. Good pick up!
  3. It was asian portal but I too was surprised at the packaging. It was a couple of boxes folded into a triangle essentially ... I'm sure it also didn't help that it's a super ultra light so it doesnt take quite as much Obviously when it arrived broken my immediate thought was ... its a sign .. you need to order the more expensive model you were looking at

  5. Well my first JDM order happened exactly how I dreamed it would ... just like in the nightmares I had the rod arrived broken in a bunch of pieces. Time to file a claim with FedEx ...
  6. new plugs? ... how does one do this?
  7. This is the perfect time to learn to work on your own reels. Crack it open, take pictures as you pull it apart, and then put it back together. It'll make that $30 reel a wise investment for you.
  8. She's beautiful ... Anyhow, perfect. Should work for what I'm using it for. Thanks!
  9. If my math is correct approximate capacity is Nasci 1000FB - 4lb/140yd Nasci C2000S - 4lb/60yd
  10. Found it! Thanks. Yeah looks like a C2000S = 1000 sized body with a ? spool? Its odd that it weighs slightly more than the standard 1000 size but holds the same line cap. I'm guessing the spool must be larger and shallower to achieve that. https://fish.shimano.com.sg/content/fish/asia/sg/en/homepage/ProductPage.P-NASCIFB.html *EDIT - actually it holds less line ... odd.
  11. On Shimano spinning reels, do the "S" models share a body with the same sized reel or with the lower sized reel. I am looking into purchasing a Nasci FB 2000S and some places have it listed as a 1000 body with a wider spool while others have it listed as a 2000 body with a shallow spool. Any help is appreciated.
  12. I wouldn't know. Never considered looking for alternatives.
  13. The line roller would not affect spool travel and closing/opening the bail should not affect the gears or internals that affect spool travel ... its just ... odd.
  14. That is really odd as on a spinning reel casting has zero effect on spool/gear position. Only thing I can think of is the momentum from the cast shaking something loose ...
  15. @bulldog1935 I read your posts on rockfish rods and was tempted, but for the amount of panfish/trout fishing I do, I couldn't justify the price. Now for bass rods ... different story
  16. 6'6" All Star ACL GT-2 ... not one of the more popular all star rods but still a rubber butt All Star rod. Ive used it for everything and for a while it was my primary jig stick. It now works larger crankbaits, lipless, and spinnerbaits.
  17. Well I just ordered my first JDM rod. I was looking for a panfish/trout rod and thought I had settled on either a Lamiglass panfish or TFO panfish rod until I stumbled upon the countless threads on JDM rods. Ended up ordering a Major Craft Trapara Area Model TXA-632SUL from asianportal. This is my first JDM purchase and between conversions, language barriers, and lack of reviews, gotta say it was a bit scary even for an inexpensive rod ... but I have a feeling the bait monkey will like JDM offerings.
  18. Everyone here is very passionate about the history of BFS ... must be writing a book or something
  19. Those panfish will wear themselves out too ... after spawn season, its not uncommon to see a worn out fish kinda just floating near shore. You can poke them with your rod and get little reaction.
  20. Assuming fast action, you cant go wrong throwing split shot trick worms.
  21. I also would not. Question ... what's your objection to baitcasting?
  22. Maybe some will disagree but when i started fishing i went from spincast to baitcast and then used spinning later. IMO ease of use on spincast is comparable to baitcast with the brakes turned up really high.
  23. When enough people line up to buy them to make manufacturing them profitable ... one more thing we dont need but if enough people want it theyll make it for us
  24. Yeah if you really got the itch I guess you could add bearings to the handle. Theres also a bushing for the worm gear but given the build of these reels I wouldn't put a bearing in there.
