freaking snapping turtles...
You've got every Louisianan on BR imagining how many gallons of turtle sauce piquante you could make with a 3-foot wide snapper ?

Spinning reel for UL setup
I picked up a Shimano Sedona on sale at Academy for just a couple bucks over your budget. It's a 1000 size reel and feels closer to a 2000 than a 500: I don't care for tiny reels and it is perfect on my UL rods. Worth stretching the budget a little for, IMO.

Chatterbait Questions
I've caught more fish on chatterbaits than spinnerbaits...it's nearly always the first bait I try. If that's all I had, I would feel very confident.

Trailer Brake
I don't see any need for it with mine. Hard to imagine, and I have a 17 ft. Casita trailer with brakes so I know the difference. I tow both with a 4Runner.

Post a photo a day!
Century plant in bloom in my front yard. Another bloomed last year, also with a stalk that shot up over 30 feet in a relatively short time.

Sunline Flourocarbon
Settled on Sunline Sniper for all my flourocarbon use. Treated with KVD the night before every outing. Extremely satisfied in every respect.

Tackle warehouse processing time
In my case (only one time, mind you), it was actually the next day. If I recall correctly, ordered on Saturday, got the shipping info Sunday and it went out Monday. Surprised the heck out of me.

Tackle warehouse processing time
I too have become increasingly frustrated with TW's order fulfillment. Pay $13 extra for second day and it ships within a day or so. Free shipping takes two weeks to fulfill, not including actual shipping time. Spent a lot of $$$$ with them over the years. Too many other good vendors vying for my business to put up with such delays. My last order, scheduled to ship at the end of the month, will be my final.

Vehicle trailer light module failure
I'll second that. I use DeoxIT on everything electrical. Not only removes corrosion but helps prevent it from forming.

Fiberglass or Aluminum
Yup, here in Louisiana we raise sugarcane and stumps ?. Speed is not always your friend: just 'cause you can't see it, don't mean it ain't there. My aluminum boat tops out at 30 mph, but I spend most of my time at 16 or below. Lack of top end doesn't bother me a bit. And I've certainly never damaged anything running the trolling motor, which has hit its share of stumps and cypress knees.

To the best of your memory, what was the lure you caught your first bass on?
Either a Creek Chub Darter or Pikie, both in pike color. Got into smallmouth, largemouth, pike and pickerel on 'em in the mid-seventies one spring day from a rented rowboat in Lake Champlain. Only top water lures I had as a teen and put 'em to good use that very memorable day. Both of 'em still have a place of honor, displayed on a shelf above my computer.

Fishing on holiday weekends?
I actually read somewhere that it's better to deer hunt on heavily pressured public lands on Tuesday through Thursday. The heavy pressure during weekends makes the deer avoid detection by staying in secure cover, triggered by their innate instinct for self preservation. Why would bass be different? The constant parade of boats and lures on lakes that get heavily pressured on the weekends would make them more wary, while after a day or two it's back to business as usual, when the instinct to feed takes precedence. That's my theory and I'm sticking with it ?.

Fishing on holiday weekends?
Heck, I try to avoid fishing weekends...holiday or not. Fishing when crowds are out on the water reduces the appeal. I normally avoid Mondays as well, to give the bass a chance to recover from the weekend's endless parade of lures. ? That said, due to the dismal stretches of weather recently, I will probably risk a trip out this Sunday.

Mounting Fish finder I need Help!!!!!!!!
Without a picture of your transom I'm just speculating here. But I mounted my HB side imaging transducer quite a ways to the side. The critical thing is following the mounting instructions to be sure you're outside of their recommended minimum distance to the prop (turbulence). But don't expect accurate depth readings at speed due to the size/length of the transducer. Because it sticks out so far, I added a Transducer Shield & Saver spring mount and their Armor plate as well for some protection.

catfish beginner tips?
Wanted some catfish for the freezer. Three outings with jug lines baited with chunks of calf/beef liver did the trick. If you have trouble keeping it on the hook for casting, an elastic thread (Mike's Magic Thread) is your friend.

Looking for a meal of fish tomorrow...
When the bass aren't biting but the catfish are running (that's now, for me, due to high water locally), I like to collect some fillets for the freezer. This day's catch included blues, channels and flatheads, all caught on liver-baited jug lines. Here's a hint from my wife: always season filets and put them in the fridge overnight before cooking. Some of these made a very tasty lunch when pan sauteed and pecan encrusted.

Minn Kota Ultrex Deploy Issues
In my manual, the only part item 406 is "lead wire, foot pedal". We can't be talking about the same thing. How about a picture or perhaps the actual MK part #?
