Why you should never go fishing without a spinning rod
Im a believer that both types have a time and place..I wouldn't throw a frog on spinning and wouldn't throw Ned on a baitcaster. Not knocking anybody for their choices...use what is most comfortable and functional for you based on how you fish. We've had this discussion on here before..the one about the guys that say spinning gear is for wimps and doesn't belong in bass fishing. The late great Aaron Martens would have disagreed...and most of the guys that claimed it weren't good enough to lick the dog mess from his boot heel.

Super shallow cranks
I really like the kvd 1.5 shallow..says it dives 3ft but on 15lb big game I'd say its maybe half that.

Favorite lures for June
In the morning under low light conditions I like a buzz bait or a popper. For moving baits water clarity dictates what I throw...the past few years its mostly been a swim jig. Its always hard to beat a weightless fluke or senko style bait.

Saltwater fishing around Galveston
I grew up about 45 minutes from Galveston and spent alot of time in my teens fishing there and San Luis pass which is just south of Galveston. If your just looking to catch some fish its hard to beat fishing live or dead shrimp on the bottom. For inshore fishing its kind of like a nightcrawler...will catch anything.

I'm going to work some exercise into my fishing.
Ive been overweight my entire life and the last year I started to suffer some pretty bad back pain. 5 months ago I started drinking more water and watching what I eat...then about 5 weeks ago I started walking 5-6 nights a week, stretching and doing some core exercises. Between those 2 I've lost a little over 30lbs and my back and knees feel.better then they have in several years. Oh and I'm a bank fisherman which like stated above can be a workout.

Strange night...
So she went in and saw her doctor today...still no kidney or bladder pain, no blood in the urine and no infection. Doc took the catheter out and wants her to try it...see if it was an isolated incident. She was warned that after removal it can be hard to urinate the first few times but she's gone normally twice now no issues. Here's where things get interesting. She told me that she had this happen one time last summer or fall not as bad as this but noticeable. Both times she had bud light hard soda. So I look up the ingredients...several artificial sweeteners that she doesn't normally ingest. Got me wondering if her bladder was having some kind of allergic type reaction...for lack of a better term...to those nasty chemicals. I could be wrong but to me once is a fluke, twice is a pattern. There's stuff in those sodas she doesn't usually have and that's the only times she has had these issue's. Maybe I'm just hoping that's what it is.

Strange night...
No...they tested her and no signs of infection

Strange night...
So last night around 7 my lady informs me that she can't pee..her bladder is full but nothing comes out. She called a nurse friend of ours and she suggested we go to the ER. We get there and the nurse tests her urine...no infection..she has no pain or blood so no sign of stones of any sort. Have you have a catheter recently? Nope. Have you switched medication recently? Nope. Any history of bladder problems in your family? Nope. They ended up putting in a catheter so she could "pee" so to speak...gotta see her primary doctor tomorrow. Assuming we will end up at a urologist. Just weird how it came on so suddenly with no pain or symptoms. 5pm can pee normally..9pm hospital.

you fishing this holiday weekend?
I wasn't really planning on going out but this morning I woke up at 6 and said screw it. Glad I did. Fished 2 hours caught 6 largemouth between 1.5 and 2.5lb. Weightless pearl fluke did most of the damage but I got one on a good ol chug bug. My buddy text me and said he was struggling after I left with only one sink but could see fish pinning gills against shore. I threw some wood chips in the smoker and headed back out. In 30 minutes of skipping a senko around I pulled a 3 out from under and a log and a 5 out of a piece of brush..both challenging with spinning gear. Excited to go back in the am.

Favorite fluke...
So far I've stuck with the old zoom super fluke...but I'm always open to new things. What's your go to fluke style bait?

Once In A Lifetime
So sorry to hear this...losing people is an awful feeling. When I was in my early 20s I went to Omaha for the weekend with my then girlfriend...on the way home a mutual friend of ours called and told her that my friend Alonso was murdered that morning. Apparently his cousin owed some bad guys money, Alonso opened the door said he's not here and they shot him in the face. That one was a jagged pill to swallow. I'm praying for you and his family.

Owner cultiva zip n ziggy...
I've heard these mentioned on here a few times over the years and see that they are now available on tackle warehouse. How easy are they to walk compared to a super spook Jr or the boyo spook?

Buzzbait size
I use 3\8oz mostly...white or black...90% of the time with a skirt 10% of the time with a speed craw.

Thoughts on Line Conditioners?
Ill agree with the above: use kvd line conditioner, tie good knots and lighten up a tad on the drag.

The official "Who's drinking tonight?" thread
Having a glass of High West double rye and watching Mad Men...doubt its what Draper drank but its whiskey so it still feels right

Is it just me?
I'm not much of a speeder...in fact I've been driving 22 years and never had a speeding ticket! I'm the guy driving 57-58 in the 55...if I "need " to get somewhere faster then I should have left earlier. I had a moron riding my a@# a while back close enough I couldn't see his license plate. I did notice that he was texting while tailgating me. When he finally flew around me I did the one finger wave...he was too busy looking down at his phone to notice.

Its official...
That's a good way to put it...the versatility is unmatched in my opinion. Also I feel a big part of its appeal is the subtlety...its kind of the finesse worm of moving baits..draws strikes even from spooky wary fish.

Anybody Ever Get Caught Without Their License?
I can count on one hand how many times I've even been checked..and I've always had my license
-
Its official...
Working it mostly around rock and some wood mixed in. Most of the time its a fairly straight retrieve with a pause or pop of the rod tip thrown in every once in a while...I try to bounce it off cover like I would a square bill and that does the trick. I've fished them several years and have tried half a dozen different trailers. I've settled on 2: 90%of the time a vertical menace grub...the rest of the time a zoom ultra vibe speed craw. I'm not a big paddle tail guy.
