Its official...
I have a new favorite moving bait: the swim jig. For years my favorite has been a spinnerbait but over the past few a swim jig has out fished it 10-1 for me. Don't get me wrong I still love a spinnerbait but I just have supreme confidence with a swim jig.

Knots - Just something I do.

What's your favorite water temp to fish ?
I like all water temps for various reasons. I like the cold water periods for the challenge...its amazing what one largemouth can do for your attitude in 40 degree water right after ice out. For big fish its tough to beat 52-62 around here. Also the warm water period...lets say mid 70s and up offers other things I also enjoy...bass crushing shad balls, early morning top water and big worms in brush.

small popper that casts a long way
You know you would think this-but my experience has been different. I fish 1\4oz poppers alot and noticed the small booyah boss pop outcasts a rebel pop r of the same size. By a decent distance to.

Will High Gas Prices Affect Your Fishing?
I'm driving an 05 Silverado Z71...gets 16-17 mpg on the highway...lucky for me my two primary spots are about 1.5miles and 7 miles away. My other most frequent spot is about 35 miles away..for that drive ill take my secondary driver...a 2010 kia forte. It gets about 35 mpg so even at $6 a gallon a trip will only set me back $12. Also my work drive is 6 miles each way so about a gallon each day. I'm fortunate..even at $6 a gallon my personal gas budget will likely still be under $200 a month. I will also add that the last time gas was high like this...I think back in 2008.. I only made like $11 an hour. That was tough to manage...fortunately I'm in a much better financial place now so should be able to weather it better.

swimjig/jig hookup ratio?
Jigs I use 15lb copolymer and a medium heavy rod. Swim jigs I actually use 12lb copolymer and a medium power rod. Honestly I don't have issues hooking and keeping them pinned on either.

Dobyns VS ARK
I have a Tharp series, Cobb series and lancer pro casting models and a lancer pro spinning. I've been very pleased with all of them thus far. I also own a few dobyns rods and find the arks are as good for the money...maybe like them a tad better honestly.

Cheap grilling meats...
So like many of you I basically live off grilled meat, especially in the fair weather months. But as I'm sure your all aware of meat ain't exactly low price these days. For cheap grill eats I often lean heavily on chicken thighs and pork steaks ( cut from a Boston butt)...but I'm wondering if I'm overlooking any cuts?

Went for bass, got cats.
Over the years catfish have been a fairly common by catch for me in my pursuit for bass. Caught a big channel cat...like 15-16lbs..on a strike king spinner bait once. Just mangled it.

What am I missing???? lol
To play off of what @slonezp said above if in doubt set the hook. We all hear guys saying man he smashed it or god he thumped it. But in reality a majority of bites are you just lose track of the bait or something feels weird like spongy or no feedback at all. In those cases swing.

Buzz bait colors
Black and white...not sure I need white

Dobyn's Fury Rod for Jigs?
Agreed. I have a fury 734 and the Tharp money maker and for jigs I prefer the Ark rod hands down. For even less money on tackle warehouse right now you can get an ark lancer pro 7'3" mag medium heavy...another great jig rod and a steal at $80. I do like the dobyns for weightless senkos and flukes on heavy wire hooks.

Update on my lower back pain...
To each their own is right...I've been seeing my chiro for a few weeks and doing the stretches and exercises he recommended and my back while definitely not 100% feels better than it has in a year. Is it going to cure me long term? I have no idea. My sister went to a spine specialist... One who apparently is very highly recommended in our area. He suggested physical therapy- didn't help. Then he suggested injections- also didn't help. So he suggested surgery- she got a second opinion that also said surgery. She had the surgery and the pain is still as bad or worse than before. While I appreciate everybody's opinion we can go ahead and knock off the chiropractors are a joke crap. I believe doctors and chiropractors can both be beneficial under the correct circumstances. But just because somebody spent half a million on their education and have an M and a D after their name doesn't mean they aren't human and can't be wrong. I've heard as many back surgery horror stories as I have success stories.

I broke my brothers casting rod.
I broke a rod tonight...my 7ft medium fast Abu veritas. Got bit like 5ft from shore on a swim jig so I swung...jig rockets at me...hits the blank and snapped off like a foot. In the trash she goes ...it happens sometimes.
